Last fall, my husband bought a pistol and shotgun from Hoosier Armory. I was not totally comfortable with the guns in our house as I have never been an active participant in gun handling in any way. That's why I took this course. By the end, I felt comfortable with the knowledge provided and in the handling of my weapon. There were more experienced participants in this class than me. I should mention that I was the only woman in this particular training, yet I left feeling more comfortable with my experience than I had hoped! I highly recommend this course to any and all!

He's in between bike sizes right now, so we've had to try them in person to be sure of the fit. Academy has a whole row of bikes that you can pull off the shelves and sit on. They have children's bikes and adult bikes, everything from mountain bikes to cruisers to hybrid. They have a pretty good selection! I would add Academy to your list of places to visit if you're looking for a bicycle. Beyond bikes, Academy has lots of things for almost every sport or physical activity, it seems like. Golf, running, baseball, you name it. And there are lots of school supplies here, too, like backpacks, water bottles, lunch bags and things like that. They got a lotta stuff.

It's always the best way to learn about the area and find the real local fishing spots. Fishing the White River had been on my list for a while, and I finally had the chance to check it out. A local bait shop recommended Schwartz's Bait & Tackle for purchasing a fishing license and getting advice on where to fish. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by the shop's welcoming committee Skipper and Smokey Joe, two very friendly cats that the owner rescued. I later learned that Skipper recently needed surgery and the local community raised the funds in just a week. That kind of support says a lot about both the shop and the community around it. Mason and Jacob were fantastic. Super friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about fishing. They took the time to talk about equipment, bait, tackle, and the ins and outs of the local fishing spots around the White River. It's the kind of place where you can walk in with questions and leave with real advice, not just gear. They also mentioned they'll be offering guided fishing trips this summer, which sounds like a great option for anyone wanting to learn the area or improve their fishing skills. The shop itself has a great selection of fishing gear, bait, and tackle, and the whole place has a laid-back, welcoming vibe. If you're planning to fish the White River, this is definitely a place worth stopping by. So, I was happy to find a brick and mortar option dedicated to Northface. Anyway, a clerk was welcoming and offered to help me. They had lots of heavy, hiking jackets. But not what I was looking for. The clerk told me I could find more options on line. Dang. So I left empty handed and disappointed. But the store is nice if you are looking for Artic wear. Prices are high, but the clothes wear well and are constructed beautifully. Visit mid week, to find easy parking and no crowds.

Caveat - I HATE shopping and I HATE raincoats - so was not looking forward to the trip. However, Jocelyn made our shopping experience painless - she was knowledgeable and very friendly. She showed me the options and explained how each were different. She allowed us to chat but checked back frequently enough that we felt taken care of. Raincoat and a sweet water bottle carrier secured - perfect for our hikes, trips, and concert season. Is it cheap? Nope. But I feel you get what you pay for. My hubs has had his same North Face rain jacket for almost 15 years, and he swears by North Face rain gear for the quality. Jocelyn also explained that all of their products are guaranteed against manufacturers defects for life - so you just have to bring it in and they will replace it. Sweet. Also, while it might be boring to some, I like that the styles and colors never really go out of style with tNF. I have had most of my tNF pieces since college and they are still kicking (shout out to my first Denali!). Of note, if it has been a minute since you have visited The North Face in the Fashion Mall, they are now in a smaller space upstairs - no longer beside the Apple Store space on the first floor.

They will only offer a gift card while the website states otherwise. Their website says if you pay via PayPal you get a cash back. Hannah states she is the GM and there is no one above her but to call customer service. That is a lie. I don't work in retail and know there is a regional or district manager above a store manager. I called customer service and they want me to drop it off at a fed ex location. This issue was not rectified in a way that best suits the consumer. I'll never shop JD again.

I have been in occasionally to get other supplies as their variety and selection is superb! Their inventory includes all sorts of bikes that you could need, including Electric, Road, Mountain, and Hybrid/City bikes. They have also increased their inventory with the acquisition of Gray Goat, allowing them to carry Specialized bikes. The sales staff are always helpful and will go out of their way to get you what you need (even ordering a bike in the size that would fit you best). Prices are high, but I think they're around what you'd find at other bike shops. Unfortunately, cycling is an expensive hobby/activity. If you do purchase a bike, they do install accessories (for free in my experience), so you could add a pannier rack, bottle cage, light mounts, and more to your bike before even taking it home! To give you inspiration for some rides, there is also a map in the back of the store showing the local Indy trails and recommended routes to explore. In addition to bike supplies, gear, and clothing, they also sell fitness equipment like treadmills, bike trainers, etc. at this location, but I haven't really explored that section of the store. The only thing I would note is that I would not recommend getting here via bike, as 82nd Street is a very busy thoroughfare and the surrounding area is very car-centric, unfortunately. But otherwise, it is a great store with pretty much everything you could need to get riding!
