What can I say?) and there wasn't so much glaze that it overpowered the doughnut (I'm lookin' at you, Krispy Kreme). Now, I must give you fair warning that there isn't much of a selection. They offer the basics: plain, glazed, crullers (on Fridays), jelly-filled, chocolate, powdered, blueberry, and the occasional seasonal flavors like pumpkin, BUT they are so delicious that you don't need all the crazy toppings to distract you from the dough. A dozen doughnuts goes for $7.45 and they accept credit/debit on anything over $5. They also offer bagels, but 1) why would you ever buy a bagel outside of the metropolitan NYC area and 2) why would you buy a bagel when their doughnuts are so damn delicious??

The place is rather large, the dining area indoors looks like it's good for at least 30 people anyways and then the outdoor porch weather permitting is probably good for another 20. I arrived about 15 minutes after they opened and the line was forming pretty quickly however it also moved along pretty quickly. The person that takes your order is not the same person that gets your donuts and puts them in the box, so that seems to streamline things pretty well. There's a display up by the cash register with one of every donut that is currently being sold that morning/day so you can make your selection easier. The menu is a little more extensive than donuts, as they also have hoagies and shareables and of course coffee/ juices. For whatever reason, somebody decided to put donuts with beer... Yeah I don't know... But, if the mood strikes you they have a very fine selection that they rotate from time to time of draft beer. It's a pour your own kind of a thing and they also sell growlers. There's of course t-shirts and other random souvenirs that not only have the company logo/wording but Owego in general. Bottom of mind this place is definitely worth a visit.

The order was simple: A dozen doughnuts and a small coffee. I have eaten at several other Curry Donuts' in the past and was always satisfied with both service and quality of food. Lets start with the Donuts. It is a small town donut shop, but the selection was poor at best. The selection that existed lacked the staples that I expect to see in any run of the mill doughnut joint. Glazed. Cream filled. Bavarian Cream. Chocolate dipped. Not to mention old favorites that keep me going back to Curry Donuts like Apple Fritters and Boston Crème. There was not a Krueller to be seen. So we pieced together a dozen of what was available. A couple chocolate cake doughnuts, Strawberry and Blueberry filled and some other miscellaneous pastries to be on our way. All that was left was the coffee. In my opinion a Curry Donut Coffee surpasses even famed rivals Dunkin' Donuts' ever popular dark brew. I took a sip. Ice Cold and Old. That ruined it for me before ever getting a pastry anywhere near my mouth. When I got home I found scrawny, missha pen Doughnuts. Most were dry and stale. A "Cinnamon Swirl" that tasted like it was made without sugar with ablolutely NO glaze on it. The usual Elliptical, pillowy concoctions I am used to were replaced by spherical (no kidding, some of them were actually shaped like baseballs!). I feel that pretty much sums up my experience. The service was barely attentive and disinterested, but not "bad" per se. I hope that my next visit brings a more pleasurable experience, as I look forward to getting a good, quality cup of Joe and a couple of my favorite doughnuts in the morning, rather than gas station fare.
