If you're looking for a freshly made sandwich on great bread with quality cold cuts, this is the place. If you're expecting a typical Subway-style franchise sandwich, keep driving. The service was friendly, the sandwiches were delicious, and everything tasted fresh.

That was the best spot to get some food to recharge, so I decided to take a walk down memory lane and get an Italian sub when I got off of work. The staff was inviting, and the place still looked and smelled the same as it did when I was a kid. There was plenty of meat on the sub with all the fixings, and of course, I complemented it with plain Middleswarth chips. Being from Pennsylvania, you have to eat it with Middleswarth chips! My mouth was drooling looking at the sub, even though the roll itself felt very hard. With the first bite, I went right down memory lane, sitting in my grandfather's green Ford Ranger. I scarfed it down, but well... I was disappointed. The bread was so hard that it almost scratched the roof of my mouth. The cheese was just bland, not bursting with flavor, and the salami and pepperoni slices had no flavoring to them at all. I think the only thing that saved it was the hot peppers that I added. To make matters worse, I also noticed the bathrooms were dirty, which is never a good sign. I also felt very slow and sluggish afterward. I don't think food is supposed to do that; food is supposed to give you energy, not slow you down. I do not recommend this place for a sub at all. I'd rather get one from a pizza shop or even Sheetz--and I think all Sheetz food tastes like cardboard, but that's just me. I hope my review helps you decide where to get your sub next!

Holy gee-whiz! It's been nearly two years since I went to The Spot and I was happy to get back. I…read morevisited The Spot twice this week and enjoyed a club sandwich both days -- they are so huge and packed with delicious cheese and meat and has thick, lean, crunchy bacon on it. I joked with Jenni that it's a 20-minute sandwich because that's how long it takes to eat. I brought a coworker yesterday and she had a reuben sandwich which she said was outstanding. She tried the chicken and rice soup and said it was wonderful so I tried that today and agree that it was totally worth the $3.99 -- hot, rich, full of chicken and packed with flavor. Today I took another coworker and she loved her sandwich and raved about her tomato bisque soup. Something happened at The Spot that I've never seen before and we were impressed. There were two other customers talking to each other while we were eating. One of them was a (very) loud talker and the owner quietly and discretely went up to her and said he could hear her across the dining room and reminded her other people (us) were eating and would she please lower her voice. He did this with sensitivity and respect but it worked and we were able to enjoy the remainder of our meals in peace. When the loud talker left, we thanked the owner and told him we had never seen anyone do such a thing before. That was just awesome! The sandwiches and soup are so amazing and it's wonderful to support a small, local business. I suspect I'll be back in the area in the next few months and you can believe I will be back and bringing another coworker along.

Looks dreary, large space with an inactive billiards table and a bar area, don't know if this place is popular in the evening. TV is on some nondescript program. This place needs to invest in modern upgrades to the interior The sandwich was excellent. Icy breaded and cooked (likely frozen mass produced but still good, with shredded lettuce and a bit of tomato on an excellent soft Italian bread roll, plus the right amount of tangy tartar sauce (also mass produced). I really enjoyed it! My rate: service 3, food 4, location 4, atmosphere 2, value 4, for an overall score of 3.

Still two steps over there. So in fact, there is no handicap access for someone in a wheelchair. Fortunately, I am able to use a cane and was able to ascend a few stairs to the interior. Inside is a small restaurant with a counter for ordering and a handful of tables for seating if eating there. We stood at the order counter several minutes before anyone acknowledged our presence. In their defense, they were busy filling orders, placing to go orders on their warming area, and continuing to cook. Finally, the "cook" looked over & said, "I apologize for the wait, we'll will be with you in a minute." The young person who finally took our order seemed a bit inexperienced, but we weren't in much of a rush. Nevertheless, there still were several slip ups in our order. My wife ordered a BLT. When they asked if she wanted it on white or wheat, she said, "white, please, toasted and no onion." What she didn't realize (my wife) was that white or wheat meant a brioche style hamburger bun not traditional sliced bread. That was not clear until we asked after being served -- and were told they don't use "regular bread". Second hiccup in this order was that while the sandwich had a wonderful abundance of bacon... I mean a load!... Somehow they not only left off the onion but also was no tomato! It ended up being a bacon, lettuce and mayo sandwich on a bun. So back to the counter to ask them for several slices of tomato. (Apology accepted.) My order was for a Philly-style cheesesteak with Cooper cheese. It came very hot, juicy, and quite yummy. In fact, it was too big for me to finish. So once again, the general generosity with fillings and toppings was top-notch. Prices were very reasonable and I would encourage you to go and try it. If in the area, we likely will come back as well. As a side note, my wife worked as a server at this restaurant 68 years ago when she was a teenager! Different name back then for both the restaurant and for her. Fond memories.

Fortunately you get to fill them with one of the many tasty choices available on the menu. My go to is the Turkey sandwich or the Philly chicken. The French fries are amazing. The truffle fries are good but can be a little salty so be careful w those. I went to two locations and one was willing to grill my onions where the other said they can't. Not sure why that is an issue but it's annoying because I don't like raw onions. Still that good that I went back minus the onions on another occasion. One location is small and hard to eat at inside but does have some seating outside (couple tables). The other location has ample seating inside and feels more outdated but has the charm of a diner. That's the one I prefer. Whenever in the area I always get my Bobby Bays sandwich.

Maybe you need to order extra or more vinegar? Something was definitely needed though. It was pretty plain tasting. Don't get me wrong, it was still a good sandwich, but it could have been a GREAT sandwich with some extra flavor of the oil/vinegar. This would definitely be my sandwich spot if I lived in York!
