The Lighthouse is on the national historical records & was the site of the first shots of the war of 1812.Regular tours are offered daily plus they have paranormal tours offered on select days, since being listed on the haunted history trail of NY state.A guided tour will take you into rooms featuring military branch uniforms & artifacts, plus you get to feel the life of a Lighthouse keeper by visiting the bedroom, kitchen & living room area.Exploring outdoors you can see a 44 foot surf boat, Civil War cannons, anchors & bouys.Just looking out onto the water is just breathtakingly beautiful, such fascinating history here to explore!!

Dave our tour guide was great. In fact we had. No idea how much time had past he kept us busy and informed. There is a lot of history here!

This is a very lovely FREE park to enjoy. The day that we went, the lighthouse was closed but we were able to walk around the grounds and take some lovely photos as well as enjoy the lovely view of Lake Erie. There are several things on the grounds to see like boats, old maritime artifacts and very nice people working around the grounds to answer questions. I would definitely go back here again. There is bathrooms and a place to picnic on the grounds as well. Definitely a family friendly spot to enjoy and budget friendly to boot !!!

Highly recommend the Wonderful tour of the lighthouse. For $10 you have access to the keepers quarters and all the history inside. Lots of Military memorabilia and stories lie within. You will also climb the tower to see the expansive view of lake Erie. Wonderful time !

I went to the Dunkirk lighthouse with my friend, she is a local resident and live there for 30 years but never went there. It was a perfect day, the tour guide was amazing, informative and full of energy. It was absolutely breathtaking and energizing to see my good old Lake Erie. I'm from Buffalo and in the summers we would live in Canada near Fort Erie

    Very historicalplace

Not only you can check out these older-version trains, it is also a perfect place to watch the trains in used as well. There is a little gift shop that offers a cool merch from cute key chains, post cards to the train operating manuals, not to mention a knowledgeable and friendly staff who would give you an in-dept details about the train history. Would recommend this train museum for a fun family day. There is no wait to enter, as well as no fee, though the donation is recommended in order for them to keep this place running.

The inside of the station is very well laid out with lots of memorabilia from golden railroad days. There's a video showing the different S curves modern freight trains navigate and a very nice seating area outside so that you can watch passing trains on the mainline. The people who work there are all very polite and knowledgeable volunteers and there's even a little souvenir store that sells magnets, hats and other items that us railfans must have. It is interesting to walk through the Empire Builder dining car as it puts you back into the olden days when this train ruled the rails. Most of the equipment have a very nice outward appearance such as the engines and rail cars, however I do not believe most of them are operational. I really like the fact that they do not charge any admission for this museum but merely ask for donations. Right now the museum is open on weekends from 12 to 4 p.m. I highly recommend you stop by and spend a few hours here and really experience railroad history.

The ground level contained a gift shop, several rooms with antique furniture, and a room that contained a timeline of Jamestown and Chautauqua county history as well as locally made items. Some of the exhibits upstairs included a furniture room, an upside down Christmas tree, a toy room, observation tower, Lucille Ball photographs, and more. Some of the exhibits on the lower level (basement) included an old kitchen, Swedish Roo, Underground Railroad information, and farming tools. There were docents spread throughout the museum, and QR codes to watch videos on the items in each room. Overall worth the visit!

Here there are a lot of stairs. There is no way to maneuver most of the building if you cannot do the stairs. No elevator. I went in July, it was so hot in the building. Might want to try it in the winter time. Also the lighting is poor. Lots of things to read, but could not see what was written on the cards. wanted to know more about sometimes, but there was no information on and no one to ask.

I was there with a 6 month old and I have to say they have it set up nice for parents to care for young ones from places for diaper changes to breast feeding. Impressive. There's a large room for quiet time and a snack bar for all your children's needs. Easy free parking is a plus, no hassle getting in or out. We did go up to the rooftop deck but it was closed, so was the planetarium but it didn't matter there was plenty to see and do. The Buffalo Museum of Science is FUN!

The museum is small, but absolutely rich with history. It was a Passenger Depot for the Buffalo, Rochester, & Pittsburgh Railway in the early 1900's. The inside of the museum still retains the look of a train station in that day, with most of the rooms still in tact! You can see where luggage was processed, where passengers would have bought tickets, and even sit and wait for trains! There are plenty of train-related relics and memorabilia that fills cases in the museum, decorates the walls, etc. There is a huge model train display in the center of the room, but it was under maintenance when we visited. What adds to the experience here is the train cars you can explore here! I've never been inside of an old train car before, and this place has several you can walk through. Some of them have old cots from where passengers would sleep, ovens and 'kitchens', closets, even toilets. It's super cool to be able to see how people would travel back in the day! I definitely recommend visiting this museum at least once, even if you're not that in to trains. But if you are, this is definitely the spot for you!
