I was suppose to be a new patient. I scheduled with the team for an 8am appointment. I get to the office just to find out that they CANCELLED my appointment & I DID NOT get a notification. I spoke with the office manager, and she claim she sent a message in some portal ... first of all, how am I suppose to get it if I'm a NEW patient?? I haven't seen anyone! And no I didn't receive a call ... her response to that was "well it was 11at night" if it was that serious, I would've made that call. (So unprofessional in my opinion) I am new to this pregnancy journey and I was hoping that I would be able to be seen at this office because I heard nothing but great things about the providers. But TRUST the reviews about the office staff. I should've known better when I walked up to the counter ON TIME the receptionist didn't even acknowledge me. This is NOT the type of place I want my first time pregnancy journey to be around. This is just my experience. Maybe yours would be different. Just don't get your hopes up. read more

I have been going to Dr. Sermons for 12 years. He has exceptional bedside manner and safely delivered my 3 children via c-section. He went above and beyond to ensure top-notch care during my 4/5-day hospital stays. Not only did he visit me 2x day at the hospital, but he called many times, and answered my calls right away when I needed him. He also stayed for additional time to have meaningful conversations with me and other members of my family. My husband and I will never forget the first appt we had with him. A staff member had moved the ultrasound machine to another room, he looked out the door and said "who touch my shit?!" We looked at each other stunned and thought ..."did he just curse?" But this was just a little peek into the level of deep care we were about to embark on. One thing you must know about Dr. Sermons is that he is funny as hell and will curse anyone out who is not doing their job properly. When the nurses at the hospital noticed my chart, they look at each other and said "oh, it's Dr. Sermons" and upon inquiring more on their comment they said "honey, you KNOW your doctor. He does not play around!" Dr. Sermons is skilled, respected, and loved by his wonderful staff. Although he doesn't handle high-risk pregnancies anymore, he hired a great doctor who is as equally as passionate and attentive as he is. My husband likes him just as much as I do and always looked forward to joining me on appointments because it was a party anytime he entered the room (even on FaceTime!). The day he retires will be a sad one. Also, I want to add that he's incredibly thorough and NOT one to overlook even the smallest of details. He moved me to his office after 2 of my appointments to further discuss certain concerns. His background in pharm is such a plus! He has customized prescriptions for me in the past and explained in detail side effects and alternatives to meds which I appreciate since I prefer to avoid depending on medication when possible. read more

Dr. Sermons is an awesome doctor! He's super friendly, positive, funny, thorough, and makes you feel very relaxed. I used to hate having Pap smears prior to going to Dunwoody OBGYN, they were painful and just super uncomfortable. With Dr. Sermons my Pap smears are hardly painful, and no longer awkward! The office staff is pleasant, and the check in process is quick and pretty efficient. Overall I'm very pleased with my experience with this practice, and won't be going anywhere else as long as Dr.Sermons is there! read more

I wish they had negative stars. I've never been treated so poorly by a place who is supposed to be caring for your well-being. The front desk person is absolutely the rudest human I've come in contact with. I'm several occasions and even on the phone. When I had blood work done, it took over a week to get the result back which were urgent to my health and she would not let me speak to a nurse and was very argumentative. The front office manager was extremely rude to my husband when he was helping me complete the online forms when their system and WiFi wasn't working. And finally, the doctor didn't remember anything I told them the time before and couldn't be bothered to look it up in my chart. All in all a terrible experience. read more

I have really enjoyed my experience so far - the whole practice is really always responsive, actually call when they say they are going to call, polite on the phone and an absolute pleasure once you are actually in the office. These qualities are very rare these days. I'm glad I landed here first before trying several other bad ones first. One other "popular" office I called in Dunwoody/SS area was rude on the phone and sounded exasperated that I had even called. I am glad that happened because it led me to this wonderful setting. If I could give no stars, I would. Dr. Price was extremely nice when I first met her on 10/19. She seemed knowledgeable and compassionate, but I later learned and felt that I was being mismanaged. I asked for a D&C initially as my preferred way to manage my blighted ovum diagnosis. She told me she'd get back to me about scheduling it, but it was taking longer than I thought it should for her to get back to me. To expedite things, I asked for Cytotec instead to get this over with (10/28). At my miscarriage follow up 2 weeks later (11/12), I had retained products of conception, and I asked for a D&C again. I was told that the OR schedule was full and that they wouldn't be able to get me in. They advised either more Cytotec or waiting it out. I waited it out because Cytotec is not fun to take. I passed clots on my own after that appointment, and I was hoping my uterus would be empty after that. At my second miscarriage follow up on 11/23, I still had retained products of conception. If you don't know, retained products puts you at risk for things like sepsis, infection, intrauterine adhesions which can lead to inability to carry a child, etc. Instead of offering me an OR slot for a D&C, Dr Price offered to perform a D&C in office, but the gag is that the office is NOT equipped to perform this procedure in office. This made me uncomfortable, especially when I got a call from her later that evening after my appointment saying "I found the D&C machine but it's missing a hose. So we can't do the D&C tomorrow. I'll keep looking for the hose." I was deeply bothered by this, and I made it known in the most polite way I could. I wanted this procedure done properly and in the right place. I ended up finding another OB practice (The Healthy Woman) that was able to perform the procedure the very next day for me. I'm extremely disappointed in the care that I received from Dunwoody OBGYN. And I should add, I'm an internal medicine physician (MD). I'm a colleague to these people, and they managed me in the least ideal way. read more

I get that it is still Covid and everything, but as a Dr's. Office If you a mandating that patients wear masks then you need to provide them for people who don't know or forgot. Instead you turn people always. Sitting there I overheard this happening to a few people and one had an emergency apt. That's so embarrassing for a facility. The lady at the front desk is short and cold to people. Will never come back. read more

Love this doctor, super helpful makes you feel really comfortable but staff is very unprofessional. They never asked what my contact/billing information was, they sent a bill to my old address that was on file from last year when I made an online account through Zocdoc, which I was told they no longer use. I've been to appointments and was never told I had a balance my insurance usually covers all my visits so I was unaware and they sent me a bill without calling or notifying me, and being that they had incorrect information on file and sent me to collections as well. This was the best doctors experience I have had since moving to the area. The office staff was nice, patient and thorough. I scheduled my first visit with Dr. Price, however, she was tied up with a delivery. Instead I saw Dr. Sermons and I am happy that I did. He is a great doctor. Very kind and patient. He took his time and answer my questions. It was nice that they could see me even though Dr. Price was with another patient. I hope the baby she delivered and its mommy are happy and healthy. It's hard to put into words everything that factors into why Dr. Sermons is not only the best OB/GYN, but the best doctor I've ever had in my life. I've been going to him for 16 years, and it wasn't until he delivered my first child almost 13 years ago that I was truly able to appreciate all that he brings as an Ob/Gyn. I have called him in the middle of the night at least 5 times, and he was courteous each and every time! He would go on to deliver my two youngest kids as well, and the experience was as awesome as the very first. He somehow manages to ALWAYS make you feel like you are the only patient he has in the entire world. He has such a relaxing bedside manner, and yet is SO hilarious at the same time!! I always belly laugh when I go for my annual visit and forget about whatever was troubling me before I arrived! (NOTE: It takes a moment for some people to adjust to Dr. Sermons' frank demeanor; speaking for myself, though, it's what I love most about him!) Most importantly, he is EXTREMELY thorough, and doesn't let anything slide. He errs on the side of caution and extra tests (without charge!) for even the smallest thing. He really and truly cares about all of his patients, and it doesn't get any better than that! His patients love him to the ends of the earth, as well. Unfortunately for other doctors, I measure everyone else against Dr. Sermons, and everyone else always loses! Love him! read more

Dr. Sermons is very caring and really cares about his patients. He gives advice and also lets you know when you're doing something you probably shouldn't be. It took me a minute to get use to his personality. The first visit it kind of took me by surprise but the compassion he showed for my daughter was excellent. I am giving Dr. Sermons a 4 stars and very disappointed that I have to. I had my first child with him and honestly I RAVED about him and his bedside manners to anyone I knew. I remember going when I was barely a month along and had a wonderful experience throughout my whole pregnancy. He was plainly hilarious. Half of the time I was feeling so sick and just not looking forward to having a baby, but I have to give him credit for helping me see otherwise. My husband and I always looked forward to our visits because it was like going to a comedy show ... his wit, the way he treated his staff, the conversations. Just a very pleasant doctor and we always walked out with a good laugh. That was about 2 years ago. Now I'm on my unexpected second pregnancy and coping with the fact that I didn't know I was so far along before coming to him. I don't know if it's the fact that I waited so long and mayyybe he thought I was being negative and irresponsible but this time around I get the cold shoulder. Maybe what I say or joke may not sit well with him, but I barely get a hi. It's uncomfortable and I'm in the limbo about what to do or say. I know some of his staff is new, so maybe he's getting used to that or it is that the healthcare profession is full of hooplas and insurance doesn't cover "sh!t" as he's put it... whatever the case, I wish I still saw his passion for helping women and guiding them through pregnancy. My friend who goes to him told me today that she was sorry but nothing of what I told her about how wonderful of a doctor he was, was true in her case. She said she couldn't figure him out and didn't feel as if he cared enough about her as a person/patient. She also went on mentioning negative examples, have of which I had no good explanation for. It sort of pained be because this was a friend who I had SUCH a hard time being convinced into not having an abortion in several occasions. So for her to go and see a doctor was exciting and nerve-racking and the "yay you are pregnant" service she expected wasn't what she thought it would be based on my reviews of him. So I'm also thinking on what to do. Do I stay, do I go??.... all depends on how my next visit goes. My second choice will be Dr. Joseph Tate who has a wonderful reputation in the community. As of right now I'm keeping my appointments and hoping whatever funk is going on goes away. Hope this post is helpful. read more

I don't write many reviews, I actually am one of those people who doesn't contribute at all to making Yelp better as I just fudge off of everyone else's experiences and find great restaurants, service providers, etc. However, today I feel totally moved to write my first review as I absolutely love Dr. Sermons and anything less than a 5/5 for his rating is total BS. I had my first appointment with him about two years ago. Needless to say, I was new to the city, had only ever seen one other OB/GYN whom I absolutely adored (not counting the two that I saw in Atlanta during my search), and was very nervous about finding a new dr. to take her of my "jewel box." When I first got to the office, I was nervous. It wasn't the OBGYN experience, it was that I was getting tired of looking for the right dr. It was the "usual" check-in process, then I was brought back by a soft spoken nurse. I met and had a consultation with Dr. Sermons for about 20 minutes in his office before he ever examined me. He asked me questions about where I was from, did I have family in Atlanta, and what made me come to see him, like why him and not another doctor? It was such a casual, pleasant conversation that I was completely at ease and comfortable when he started inquiring about my history of abnormal pap smears. It was a great meeting. The actual exam was so smooth, easy, and quick. I felt totally at ease. He has excellent bedside manner. He is the kind of person that makes you feel like you are the only person in the room or of importance. He's extremely thorough. He is VERY down to earth. If you could imagine what a perfect dad situation would be, he seems like he would be it. Don't get me wrong, I have a wonderful relationship with my father and I don't need a new one at 34 years old. However, he is a person who knows what to say, how to say it to you, he gives you the truth and he gives it to you straight. I would love to talk to him about other matters in my life aside from my health. He's that cool. He is a great doctor, with excellent bedside manner, is very knowledgeable about medical information and is down to earth like no other. I recommend him to every person I know--even men who tell me that their wives are expecting. He is Atlanta's best kept secret and has apparently been in his same location for 20 years. He must be doing something right--at least he is for me! read more
