Also, John Carbone told me that if I make two separate payments on the same day, the extra payment would go toward principal so I did this. it did not apply the extra payment towards principal. read more

I would rate this place 0 stars if possible. Their lack of professionalism and poor service is egregious. My family has a slightly different type of refi transaction because it includes our deceased mother's home that was willed to us. The net-net is that the family member doing the refi in order to take ownership has excellent credit and sufficient income. He also has an auto loan and credit card with DCU. The way that DCU thanked him for his continued business was to string him along knowing that we had a legal deadline to meet, and then ghost him. No formal denial of financing (which doesn't make sense anyway), but instead the rep completely ignored multiple status request emails and messages leaving us in the dark and wasting weeks of time in an important process. We had to zero out and stalk a manager to finally get a response. We moved on to another source, and are at the final stages before closing. We already paid for a very recent appraisal through the other lender, so our current source told us to get a transfer of appraisal from DCU. In their epic lack of service form, DCU is refusing to do the transfer. This is a common type of request, they know they created problems for us with their lack of attention to our timeline, yet they continue to be an obstacle to us moving forward even when another lender is ready to write the deal. They are wasting not only more of our time, but they are also wasting more of our money forcing us to pay for another appraisal. I will NEVER do business with this joke of a lender. read more

This used to be the place to get a good home Mortgage with a great rate, but the games they play have changed my mind. My first mortgage in 2016 was great and easy, loved the credit union. In 2018 I applied for a Home Equity Line of Credit. The process took forever, almost 4 months, and I have great credit slightly over 800. At that time I thought the appraisal was low, but it really didn't affect me so I said whatever. In 2020 I tried to refinance. Rate was slightly higher than I wanted, but I said that's fine and applied anyways. Then the games began. Once again, same appraiser gave a lower than average appraisal. Homes in the area were selling for 40-50 thousand more than the appraisal, and I had just done a major remodel, expansion to the kitchen that blew the other homes out of the water. I understand banks appraise low on purpose probably to protect their investment, but this was low. Then I got the phone call from the Mortgage Department saying that since the home appraised low, they would have to raise my interest rate up .25% because the loan to value ratio had changed. (See the gaming going on here?) I said, nope, that's not gonna work, so I started to work with a mortgage broker. End result: Lower interest rate by .5% which saved 10's of thousands, lower fees, and an appraisal that was $10.000.00 higher. I lost my application fee to DPCU which was around $600, but in the end I was ahead by 10's of thousands by not using them. I learned a lesson and will tell my friends about my experience. read more

DuPage credit Union is not a customer friendly institution to help reach your financial goals, or obtain loans for things like home or car. Their auto loan rates are advertised as low, but are way above average after you submit your application. If you are looking to consolidate debt, they will not help your cause. The instition is looking for quick and easy ways to charge high interest on lower risk individuals. I would highly advise other avenues for your financial goals or loans. read more

Be Careful... They can have great rates... but as I just experienced as I have two loans through them, they can be a bunch of CROOKS and charge your account with charges after the fact without any warning! Customer Service is poor. They refuse to fix a 30 day late payment negative mark on my credit report, which was due to a bank error. I have an auto loan from years ago and set up autopay, I had no autopay problems for years, but for some reason payment didn't go through or wasn't accepted in 2016. They blame Fifth Third Bank, and Fifth Third Bank blames them, for stopping auto pay. I'm guessing it was probably Fifth Third Bank's error, but no matter, DuPage Credit Union will not correct my credit report, even as a courtesy and a history of never being late, and despite being told last year it would be corrected. I dealt with customer service, then dealt with Vicky in the department that handles credit reports, Vicky then checked with the VP. The answer was "No", they won't correct my credit report, and then they explained how it is not a big deal to have one 30 day late payment on your credit report. I know one 30 day late payment isn't a big deal, but it is a matter of principle. I wouldn't recommend banking here. Their website banking is poor also. read more

Not the best for rates. My credit score is quite good (825+), and no other debt. I pay off my credit card monthly. DCU pushes ridiculously high rates. Ended up going with WF for my mortgage With a great score and 30% down DCU should have been able to do better. Customer service is a joke. Don't waste time. Skip these jokers. read more

I had experience as a realtor working with DuPage Credit Union (DCU), so I placed a call and found a special 1.9% interest rate. My daughter joined the credit union, applied, was approved within 24 hours and was able to purchase a great used car within days. Just can't say enough about what a great experience this was after seeing how crazy car financing has become. We are singing praises for DCU! read more

Horrible customer service. Requested information regarding home loans online and requested to be contacted via e-mail to set up an appointment. Never received an e-mail but received a voicemail and when I made the effort to call back they told me the person I'd be working with was "away" and would contact me in a few days. 3 days later she did call back and was rude and condescending towards me and acted as if my questions were a burden to her. When I asked if I could just set up an appointment to go over details in person (as I'd already requested over 1 week ago do to) she told me that someone had already called me to do so and I failed to answer her call. She also said that I never indicated on my request form my preferred contact method. Very disappointed in this, as I have other loans through them and never experienced this lack of customer service and argumentative attitude from their staff before. read more
