I needed a 50-year old dial combination safe opened. After calling a few places that advertised…read moresafe cracking, I finally found Strauss/SEI and they said they could do the job. A few days after dropping off the safe, the gentleman I was working with, Dan, said he had tracked down the company that bought out the original manufacturer, and they could get me the combination if I jumped through a few minor hoops and sent them a form (and some cash!). I got the combination a few days later and went to Strauss to try it out. At least 4 of us tried to get it open, to no avail, but it was great that Dan hunted down this option and offered it up. So, we had to go back to the safe-cracking route. It took a few days for the technician to get to my safe and another one, but he was able to get it open. They don't open the door, just get the lock to release the mechanism and have you come in to get it. I picked up the safe and got my items out. Dan was even nice enough to help me with disposal options for the now unusable safe. Pricing was very reasonable, and service was excellent. Highly recommended!

Signed up for their maintenance plan last fall. They checked my furnace, all good. This spring I…read morescheduled a maintenance call for my air conditioner. I told the repairman that I had turned it on once and I had no cooling. He checked inside, no problem. Went outside, took the cover off surrounding the air conditioner and immediately could see the problem. My dog had urinated on the corner repeatedly which ate away at everything and corroded the pipes that hold the refrigerant. He said he had to order the parts and it would be $3000 to fix. After 8 days I called and was scheduled for the repair. I never received a written estimate for the repair. Was never told the maintenance call was now a diagnostic call or that I would be charged. Never received a bill for this either. The repairman said it could take up to 4 hours to get it fixed. It took 2.5 hours. I paid and asked for a receipt, was told it would be emailed to me. After 4 days, I called as I had not gotten my receipt. It was promptly sent over. I was charged for 4 hours of work when it only took him 2.5 hours. I immediately called back and explained the overcharge. I was put on hold for over 15 minutes. Then I was told yes, the repair took 2.5 hours, but the additional time charged was from the earlier maintenance calll. I said that was already paid for as I was on their plan. Was told no, since it turned out to be a diagnostic call, not a maintenance call, I was being charged. I said he didnt diagnose anything, once the cover was taken off it was obvious what the problem was. She doubled down on her explanation. I had never been told this, never received a bill for this. I feel i was overcharged for the repair and they were simply making an excuse for the overcharge. I promptly cancelled any further maintenance from this company and will never use them again. ​
