Another company made follow up contact and came out as they said they would.

Jalon came to inspect my roof after it was damaged by a storm. He told me I needed a new roof, and…read morefor $500 he could tarp the roof that same day to prevent any more water damage. I told him that was too much and I would tarp it myself. He told me if I hired his company to do the roof replacement, the $500 would be applied to that total, but if I went with a different company I would owe the $500. I thought that was a fair deal, so I had him tarp the damaged roof and agreed to use his company for the job once the insurance claim was processed. Two months later when insurance finally completed the claim, I had Bullard Roofing put on a new roof as we had agreed. After the job was done, Jalon called asking if he could come by and pick up the payment. He said that it would be for the roof job plus the $500 for drying in the roof. I reminded him of our agreement, but he said we never had that conversation and I owed the $500. If you use Bullard, make sure you get everything in writing. Do not make any verbal agreements with this company - they won't honor them. Bullard's crew also tried to take two unused metal roof panels that were included in the price I paid with them after the job was completed. Thankfully I caught them taking the panels on my security camera so I was able to get them back. The roof job looks fine, but I'm disappointed with Bullard's dishonesty about the $500 and their crew trying to steal two roof panels.

After having our offer accepted, our realtor gave us a list of inspectors to choose from to get our…read morerequired inspection done. Not knowing anything about any of them, I chose Cody because, honestly, his last name sounded like someone I knew from back home. Ridiculous, yes, but it ended up being a very good decision. Cody immediately responded to my request to schedule the inspection. He was able to promptly get us on his schedule which was important since we only had ten days to have the inspection completed. We wanted to be there for the inspection but our realtor asked us to give them about 45 minutes to an hour to get going with the inspection. When we arrived, Cody gave us a brief rundown of what he had looked at and his findings. He took my husband with him for the rest of the inspection and then backtracked and showed him the few things that he identified that needed done before moving in and a few things that should eventually be taken care of. We've had inspections on other property and we've wondered what they really looked at as they were in and right out. Cody took his time and really looked at the house - every part, including getting up in the roof and crawling through the attic. His written report was almost immediate (although it did initially go to our spam folder) and was quite comprehensive. I hope I'm not in the market for a new home anytime soon but next time I do need an inspection, I will definitely give Cody a call.

He is an absolute professional, provided new home owner tips, and a detailed report. Impeccable work at a fair price! I 100% support this veteran owned business!!! Thank you, Rocket Valley Home Inspections.

Russ inspected a home that I was under contract to purchase. It was a large home, and he spent…read moreabout four hours on the inspection itself, and another hour and a half walking around with me afterward to point out the more notable findings. He found a lot of minor issues, which was expected, and several major issues, most of which were surprises. I have been present for enough home inspections to have a sense of what is typical due diligence on the part of an inspector, and what goes beyond that. I think that Russ was unusually thorough with regard to the roof inspection, as well as locating plumbing leaks in the crawlspace. He found active leaks, saturated subfloor, and live fungus that was completely missed by a pest control professional who had earlier done an inspection for wood-destroying organisms. Pricing should not be a home buyer's primary concern when choosing a home inspector, but I thought that the $700 Russ charged for the home inspection and radon test was reasonable, especially considering the thoroughness of his work. His report was easy to understand and well documented with photos. Home inspectors often face pressure from realtors, especially listing agents, to soften their findings so that deals go through and realtors collect their commissions. I got the impression that Russ would not compromise his integrity in that way, and I would hire him again for a home inspection in north Alabama.
