The zero gravity seats that vibrate and the sounds, and additional options just made the experience so relaxing and very much needed! The room was a comfortable temperature with the heating pad on the seat, you are given a blanket in case you do get cold. I loved the details and information we received on what to expect and what was going to happen! The mint tea at the end was also such a wonderful touch! All in all I am ready to go back! Took my husband for his birthday. It's very clean. They send you to a nice locker/restroom to change into a white robe and slippers. Initially we were the only ones in the salt cave. Towards the end of the session, a couple of ladies came. Relaxing music plays while you lay in reclining chairs wearing an eye mask and with a blanket. It was quite relaxing. I don't know if the salt helped or not. I will say that it was nice and relaxing so it met the goal I guess. read more

I took my husband here for his birthday to have a unique experience. We did the 45 min salt cave/sound therapy and we had a lovely, relaxing time. We booked the salt suite, but since there were no other parties at our appointment time we were "upgraded" to the cave. I wore a tank and thick leggings because it was a cold day, but next time I'll probably wear shorts to be able to expose as much of myself as possible while in the cave. You are given a comfy blanket and hot stones, but I found it pretty warm in there that day and didn't need the blanket. My only extremely slight negative is we were sat in the loungers closest to the fan(?) that pumps out the medical grade salt during the experience, and with my ADHD I found the whirring of the fan louder than the sound therapy in the beginning (which is quiet in the beginning) and it was distracting and prevented me from falling into total relaxation. My husband didn't even notice it though, and he was transfixed before our guide even left the room. Next time I'll prefer to sit further from the fan. My husband tends to not be into "woo woo" but he said his experience was amazing - he was so relaxed he could barely lift his arms. He fell asleep and said it was a hypnotic state. The owner is extremely kind and soothing. It's incredible he built the place himself too, everything is just beautiful and so carefully considered. We will definitely be back, we would love to try having a massage before entering the salt room. This business is an amazing addition to Durham. Definitely try it! Thank you! read more

Wow, soooo relaxing. We visited a salt cave in Asheville several years ago and wanted to try this place in Durham. While Googling them I actually stumbled upon a Groupon, which was not expected but welcome. I called and asked how to book online using the Groupon and was given instructions on how to do so. We visited on a weekday while I had the day off. The owner is very friendly and explained everything to us. We sat back and enjoyed the relaxing lights and music (okay, so the music was a tiny bit loud) while the micro salt particles were blown in. What made this better than the Asheville cave in my opinion is that their special chairs vibrated gently to the music. That combination just lulls you into a more relaxed state. Honestly, I can't say I benefited from the salt therapy itself but did thoroughly enjoy the experience, which was capped with cups of chamomile tea. This is a nice addition to the area. read more

This place is the best ever!!! Me and my friend accidentally actually turned up for our appointment late, as we had mistakenly told ourselves our 10am appointment was at 11am. Thank goodness Bruce was so sweet, kind, and understanding, and he still let us keep our treatment since we were lucky and there was time and space to still make it happen. Even just chatting with Bruce before and after the salt room was like catching up with an old friend. The space and salt room itself are beautiful and luxurious, it feels like a retreat the second you walk into the doors. The chairs lean way back. He also gave us warmed salt stones to place on our bodies which was an extra treat. There are headphones to make the music an extra immersive experience, and the chairs even vibrate along with the music which was super lovely. I had an hour-long massage with Cleo. The Cave is welcoming, quiet and calm. They have a helpful form to fill out with outlines of the body so that one may indicate "trouble" spots. I wish I would have visiting this spa for the salt instead of the massage! My partner gave me a gift certificate for a 60min massage at the Cave and I was really looking forward to it. Although the spa itself is quite beautiful and very soothing, the space for the massage felt like an afterthought (bright lights streaming in from the window, shed-like feel). In addition, the cost of the massage is $120 not including tip and the actual service was mediocre. You're unable to request a massage therapist by gender, style, etc. Apparently you just get what you get. I've had many professional massages before and this one was unique, consisting mainly of this person using one hand to rub small circles over my back through a sheet. For the price, I was highly disappointed. Umstead in Raleigh and Fearrington Spa near Chapel Hill are leagues above for a similar price range (plus better amenities). read more

They called me at 5:00PM when my appt was scheduled. I forgot I made a day to try and get away for from my DV marriage but he cut my drivers license, wouldn't let me take the car with zero access to anything. I bought it in secret on my what I believe to be a secret card. Humiliated, I explained more in detail to the gal I spoke to on the phone & cried because (I disclosed one of my traits being autistic because I felt the need to justify myself.) Point being, I don't miss appointments, periods. Why would I intentionally avoid the first thing I scheduled for myself in 3 years? I was tearing up the entire call. The only woman I spoke to, I wish I got her snotty name, -- WELL, due to their "policy" she could "maybe" offer me half price off my next purchase... I physically could not get there. ...my...next...purchase?! These are the owners, representatives, self-proclaimed healers of a space and as an indigenous woman with healing arts ingrained in my family, I am beside myself. PS: to add to the genuine empathy: (I stumble and got so uncomfortable -- told her about my disability discrimination eviction during COVID & finding BOTH my best friend & brother after taking their lives because of...bullies...??? hmm) she implied: "oh, wheelchair?" not a kind gesture, a next time when you buy, do you need a wheelchair snarky comment. no. Visiting Cave & Spa was a deliciously novel experience; it felt like a healing temple. The translucent salt walls provided a warm glow and the bed of pink salt underfoot was both grounding and exotic. I was immediately comfortable in the soft leather, adjustable recliner and chose to listen to the soothing, trance-like music using headphones while my wife relaxed in silence.
