I used temporary supports from Home Depot to be safe, but I live relatively far away and don't work in construction anymore, so I needed someone to come and fix this. It was difficult to find someone, but a neighbor recommended this company. They knew exactly what needed to be done. The pergola had been in place for 20 years, but wasn't built to last much longer than that. This father and son came in, and spent a day installing three new posts, matching the original style exactly, leveling the beam perfectly, using concrete footings and painted everything to look brand new. They might be busy as great contractors are hard to find, but plan ahead and wait until they can service your project, and you will be glad you did. For reference, I sometimes visit my past construction customers from 30 to 40 years ago when I go back to CT, and my work still stands - my point is that I know what I'm talking about, and I'm grateful both to these guys and the neighbor who recommended them.
