We hired cornerstone fence to do both projects and we are extremely pleased with the results. The owner (Jason) bid the job and was very Helpful explaining all the available options, and in designing and building the deck and the fence that would match what we had in mind. He made suggestions to improve durability and aesthetics which we incorporated, and it turned out far better than we expected. We went with a composite deck and a Cedar fence. The transformation took approximately 4 weeks to complete, we watched every day as they deconstructed the old and then built the new. They cut no corners and everything was done to ensure a long life for the deck and fence. Cornerstone's attention to quality and to detail was impressive to watch. from the footing system they used to anchor the deck, to the postmaster fence posts and horizontal cedar planking, they build their projects to last. They did a terrific job, the crew was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. Jason was on site everyday and communicated with us daily to see if we had questions or concerns. I would have thought that when RVF sent Dane County Deck & Fence with personal and BBB - A+ recommendations, that it was a sure bet. Perhaps this customer just caught their crew during a bad day. I paid RVF $7200 to install a new fence inside my older one as the neighbors had committed numerous crimes against me with no police action or court protection. Before one section was built, I noticed 4 vertical wooded slats hanging and flapping loose at the top on a neighbor's side. I asked Raoul (sp?) if he could please nail it together with 4 screws. He barked, "That's not in the contract, and I only have do do what's in the contract. I was not hired for this." I reminded him that the customer standing before him was an elderly, totally disabled man in his spine, shoulder and hands and could not turn 4 screws himself to resolve the obvious future problem with the threatening neighbors. He barked again, "I'm not going to do the whole fence. I wasn't hired for this. It's not in the contract." I told him that it was not the whole fence, as I showed and stated, but only 4 vertical wooden slats. He argued, and roboticly repeated himself - with good measure turning his body to face away from me to hide his obvious unreasonableness - and poor business and customer service sense. In the end he said begrudgingly that he's do it. He did not. 4 screws. 4 screws and your previously A+ rated business gets this for a business review from a man who has been a foreign correspondent/journalist in 6 countries over 32 years, including 2 wars. My talents could have been put to better use to add to your otherwise fine online reputation. It only takes one bad apple to spoil the bunch. I had even greeted and made coffees for the workers. No thanks needed; how about hello, whenever I passed them. Not one of them ever responded; not one - once. They did not even look back at me. Strange way to treat a man who had just paid you $7200. I would give them zero stars if I could…read more I got multiple estimates for a fence repair, chose their estimate, scheduled a repair day, and THEY NEVER SHOWED UP! That day I scheduled a repair time for the following week and they FORGOT ABOUT OUR JOB A SCOND TIME! RIDICULOUS! I wasted two whole days of vacation and four weeks waiting for these "professionals". Now I have to wait 5 months for my fence to be repaired in Spring. They finally sent a written estimate after forgetting about our job twice, and the price INCREASED! What type of compensation is that?! They never offered an apology for missing the appointments or delaying our fence repair by 5 months. The only monetary compensation they offered was for me to pay a higher price than I originally was quoted. The front office workers essentially screen his calls. Our conversation was as follows.. Me: "Hi, is the owner in the office and available to speak?" Rockford Fence: "May I ask who's calling?" Me: "Bryan Z_____. I had left a message that was not returned." Rockford Fence: "Oh, it looks like he's out of the office right now." Me: "Does he have a work mobile phone so I can call him?" Rockford Fence: "A lot of times he leaves that in the office." Me: "Can I please have the number anyway just in case he has the phone with him?" Rockford Fence: "No" The fact that the manager either is/isn't in the office is conditional based on who's calling is unprofessional to say the least. The customer service, deception, and time wasting is simply infurating. Avoid Chris (estimator) specifically. He didn't give us a paper estimate, then lost the estimate, lost our contact information twice, never answers his phone, and does not respond to messages. Rockford Fence was given a fair opportunity to make this right to us (the customer). They refused to apologize for wasting our time and refused to even consider monetary compensation for time wasted.
