I had heard a lot about this place recently and was looking forward to trying it out. It is located in a downtown loft space right across from the Sangre de Cristo Arts Center with lots of parking in the front off of Sante Fe. When I arrived the owners Rick and Sue welcomed me into their beautiful paint studio and offered me a variety of drinks and snacks to choose from. I spent the first few minutes getting acquainted with the nice and friendly owners, the teacher of the class, and the other students, then it was time to put my apron on and get to painting! The studio is fairly large for lots of individual painters, as well as for bigger private parties/groups. We all got to pick a seat which was already set up with our own personal easel, canvas, brushes, and a variety of paints to get started. Apparently Brushes N Beverages offers different painting themes on different days/nights of the month. On this particular night we painted a beautiful mountain range with a sunset lit sky! I have no prior painting experience and I have to say that I have not had this much fun in a long time! The teacher was super patient and thoroughly explained which brushes to use, how to mix our colors to make our paintings a little more customizable (the guy next to me wanted to paint a "Denver Bronco colored sunset"), how to create different blending effects, textures, etc.. She even walked around to check on each of our paintings a few times to offer specific help and tips on how to make our paintings as beautiful as possible. After a very enjoyable 2 hours I found myself sitting in front of a beautiful masterpiece! haha! I am so proud of my painting and everything that I learned in just one night at Brushes N Beverages, but most of all, when I look at my painting I remember how much fun it was and what a new experience it was for me in Pueblo! I am going to highly recommend this place to everyone I know! I already want to bring all of my family and friends back here so that they can experience it too! I imagine this place would be perfect for family outings, a cool date experience, girls night out, bachelorette parties, work functions, family/high school reunions, birthday parties, baby showers..the list goes on! Basically, it would be perfect for any occasion where you want to do something different, learn something new, have a drink, relax, have fun, and be proud of yourself when you sign your beautiful painting with your name! No reason was given, but I suspect it was because of several negative reviews left for some of the alleged instructors; my math and English instructors had no idea what they were doing -- my English instructor relied on AI to grade one of my papers and I got dinged for plagiarism because a student in Africa cited the same dictionary reference I did! I pointed out that problem and was ignored. My math instructor failed me on a couple of geometry questions and when I pointed out that he was wrong using outside sources to support my point, I got ignored then, too. To this day, they still have offsets against my state income tax returns and will not explain what the offset is for, the amount remaining, or any other details. Stay away from PCC. They're not to be trusted.

We visited today after a long hiatus. This is certainly among the lamest museums we have ever had…read morethe misfortune to tour. It SHOULD be a repository of artifacts about the varied history, cultures and ethnicities that have built the City of Pueblo from the 1840s to present. What it IS is something different. There are three sections. One gives a very brief history of the establishment of the original trading post/fort/community established in 1842 and its demise. The rest of the section focuses almost exclusively on the Hispanic people of the area as well as the indigenes. Display placards, all of which are in Spanish first, then English through the museum, consistent label American settlers as 'colonizers' and 'anglos' throughout. The second section, is dedicated completely to the steel industry labor movement in Pueblo. The third is about a small, fringe section of the city, featured because of the strong presence of citizens with Hispanic heritage. There's a lot of wasted space in the attractive building. Years ago, it used to have many more artifacts and gave a somewhat more balanced presentation of the rich history of Pueblo. Most all artifacts that do not support the present narratives are removed.
