I used to be a big fan of The Gun Range because of their friendly staff and their policy allowing outside ammo. As someone who buys in bulk from Cheaper Than Dirt, being able to bring my own rounds makes this hobby much more affordable. Unfortunately, my last visit with my son was a major disappointment: Shotgun Ammo Price Gouging: We brought a new Boss 25 to break in, only to be told we could no longer use outside shotgun ammo. They quoted me $48 for a box of 25 shells. For context, I buy 250 shells online for $86. That is a massive markup. Misleading Safety Claims: When I questioned the policy change, the manager claimed it was due to a fire caused by "faulty shotgun ammo" at another range. I looked this up while waiting; the fire she referenced was actually attributed to faulty air filtration, not ammo. Poor Customer Service: We bought two targets but only ended up using one. When I tried to return the unused, unrolled target, I was told it was "unreturnable" because it was rolled up--despite the fact that the clerk was the one who rolled it when selling it to us. A private business has every right to change its policies, but they should be honest about it. Don't hide behind safety excuses to justify inflated prices. They've lost my business and my trust.

Then they closed down the rifle range, right after upgrading it with new cement pads, baffle system, and pathways. The shotgun area was in need of cleanup and repair. I was told (by the forest workers there) it was going to all be reopened after repairs were completed. That was 3 years ago. Recently the same workers told me it was probably not going to reopened because of money issues? Maryland government officials should be ashamed.

This whole thing stinks of politics. Can't we keep the politics out of some things? My kids loved to learn gun safety and shoot at that range. How far are these democrats going to push us? I need all the Faith and Flag Conservatives who enjoy their 2nd amendment rights to help out here. Lets stop all the Dems BS! Help me organize a group of volunteers and petition city hall for immediate permission to get that range going again?..(for starters). I surprised my husband with a trip to this shooting range for our anniversary. I had never shot…read morebefore but he was in the Army so he knew exactly what to do. I was a bit nervous at first but the staff were super friendly and walked me thru everything. Every staff member we came across was knowledgeable and made the experience fun! They are very serious about fun safety and quickly addressed a gentleman who walked in with an uncased gun, he was politely but sternly advised on their policy and shown the door. I felt very safe. On the range itself, there were many shooters around us and they were all very friendly and encouraging. It was so much fun, relatively affordable and we will definitely return to try other varieties of guns to shoot from their large selection.

The range was small, the stalls were congested. The range has no tables or anything besides in the…read morestalls themselves. (The rifle racks within the stalls were nice though). No limits to the amount of people per stall so next to us was a group of four or five inexperienced shooters who were warned before being asked to step out to wait for a range safety officer who could babysit them. The ammo prices are ridiculous. A box of 5.56 online is under 15 dollars, they charge close to 25 dollars per box.
