Just rescued a golden retriever on 11/23/2024 and needed a vet so I chose this place where my parents take their dogs. Happy I took my girl there cause the staff were super friendly, knowledgeable and talked me through what she may or may not need and also provided prices for everything. Once we got to a room, the staff kept giving my girl treats which made her more relaxed. Then she was checked and weighed and they clipped her nails. They were very professional and talked me through next steps. I'm a first time dog owner so knowing more was helpful. At the end of the visit, I was able to purchase her meds that she needed as well as flea and tick for next month. They have 10% off on Tuesday's and Wednesdays for military which is awesome and seniors. I would be back to get more flea and tick stuff and if my girl needs to go back for anything I'll take her there. Another plus- they had some items in the hallway like toys and bones for sale. I didn't want to write this review because I admire this clinic's mission, its affiliation with a national greyhound rescue, its affordability, and the vets' responsiveness to phone calls That said, the front desk staff and Dr. Berman, in particular, are disorganized and miss important symptoms. They ran the wrong fecal test on my dog and I did not realize it until Dr. Berman mentioned it months later. The practice manager ended up refunding me. Dr. Berman is very laissez-faire and failed to properly treat my dog's persistent diarrhea. She recommended that he stay on a bland diet indefinitely, even though he was losing weight (three other vets have since told me that my dog is now nutrient-deficient). Worse still, I called when my dog was short of breath and lethargic following his regular vaccines at a vaccine clinic. When Dr. Berman responded at the end of the day, she seemed perturbed that she had to call me, didn't even ask me to check my dog's heart rate, and told me to give it a few days and he should be fine. He turned out to have a life-threatening pneumonia and I had to rush him to the ICU two days later. Luckily, he survived after a week in the hospital. Worse still, after I complained to the practice, Megan Orr, the assistant director, called me while my dog was in critical condition and proceeded to berate me for following Dr. Berman's advice and not realizing that my dog needed immediate attention??? She exhibited zero empathy and was completely unprofessional. Look at some of the other poor reviews and avoid this place. They are negligent. read more

i have brought my greyhounds to Dutton Clinic since 2013. the care up to now had been excellent. my most recent experience with the new surgeon and staff vets, however, was a disappointment. communication was misleading which resulted in one of my dogs having more teeth extracted than what was agreed upon after the surgeon had made his full examination. my other dog, who was due a simple scrapping for dental cleaning as performed numerous times in the past, received no care despite a separate visit. instead, i was told to make an appointment for his cleaning that would include sedation. nonetheless, i was charged for a visit that was 30 minutes late and lasted no more than 4 minutes. i shall look for an alternative vet to care for my greyhounds in the future. read more

I'm heartbroken to say this clinic's negligence cost the life of my cat and severely compromised my dog's health. I trusted Dutton Road for years for routine care, but when serious concerns came up, their lack of thoroughness--and compassion--became tragically clear. My dog showed signs of dental pain. Two different vets, including Dr. Raney, glanced at her teeth without doing a full oral exam and said she was fine. I later discovered she had multiple cracked and rotten molars. Another clinic had to extract 11 teeth. Soon after, I brought my cat in for a sick visit. Dr. Raney attempted to pull my 14.5 lb cat out of his carrier by scruffing him, causing him to cry out in distress. She failed to do a proper exam and assumed dental pain, prescribing medication and scheduling a cleaning. The next day, he became drowsy and had trouble breathing. My husband brought him back to the same clinic, where another vet ordered an x-ray--but failed to recognize a severely enlarged heart. Instead of referring him to emergency care, they gave steroids and antibiotics. He died at home two hours later. Three other vets at different clinics reviewed that same x-ray and immediately identified advanced heart failure--something Dutton completely missed. When we spoke to the clinic's manager afterward, she reviewed the visit video and claimed that Dr. Raney "never scruffed" our cat. But she did try to--and that attempt alone was enough to traumatize him. Worse, while I was trying to connect my husband to the call--barely able to operate the phone through my grief--I heard the manager laughing loudly with someone else in the background. That moment showed me exactly how much they cared. Please be careful. In my experience, this clinic demonstrated not just poor medical judgment, but a disturbing lack of accountability and compassion. After 30 minutes beyond that time, I came out and told them if I don't have anyone come to see me & My dog, in 5 minutes, I am leaving. I wait 10 minutes and still nobody, so, I LEAVE. Ironically, THEY Gave me the Time. So, if you have no value for your time or the anxiety of your Dog, call them. Once they get to you, they are ok, Waiting until they do IS The PROBLEM. read more

Just recently, my cat was acting differently. She also was spotting with some blood when she urinated. I took her here and with xrays, it was found that she had kidney stones. And a lot of them. The staff was friendly. The doctors were very professional. They even took me back to show me these kidney stones in the xrays. After surgery to remove them, and a little healing time, my little girl is back to herself. I feel the doctors saved her life. I am truly thankful for that. I see on some reviews that they mentioned a problem with cleanliness. I am big on that. I found them to be very clean here. I have been going here for some years now. one can't say enough good things about the care they provided to our dog, Rocky, even up to when we had to put Rocky down. He had brain tumors and the seizures got so bad, we couldn't see him suffer any more. They had the utmost respect for him and us. We had Rocky cremated there and had his cremains back within a week. Although I have seen changeover in veterinarians, everyone that I have had has been professional, and very caring with my cats. The staff is always very nice from making the appointment to checking out. I was there on April 19, 2023 with my cat, Harley for her annual exam. Dr. Aime Berman saw Harley. My dog had some teeth removed. I kept calling and was told everything is fine and he's not ready for pickup. Finally, at 7p I rode up to get my dog. We took our puppy here her first check up and for all of her shots. Everything seemed fine with those visits. We were told to make an appointment for her to get spayed in July or August. I've called multiple times over the past few weeks to schedule her and have been told the scheduler will give me a call back, I've even left her messages on her direct line. We called this morning to try to get an emergency appointment because our puppy is really sick. They asked what is going on and told us they would call us right back. We've never received a call back from them and ended up taking her to VSEC instead. Unfortunately we'll be finding a new vet because this one isn't reliable. read more

This place has not adapted well to the COVID situation. I attempted to merely pickup a prescription last week and I had to wait 45 minutes. My dog had an appointment today and we ended up leaving after waiting in the parking lot for over an hour. The pets that were taken in were in there for roughly 40 minutes. So if I had stayed my entire wait time would have been close to 2 hours (or more?) I know someone else who had a similar experience 2 weeks ago so this appears to be there level of service now. I don't understand why they can't call clients up to reschedule if they are that far behind. If you make an appointment be sure to block out a few hours for it. read more

Then their Surgeons thought it was a great idea to travel during a virus outbreak and have to be quarantined after they showed up this morning. They could not resuture him today. I have adopted both of my greyhounds from NGAP (National Greyhound Adoption Program) which has the Dutton Vet Clinic as part of their facility. I have found all staff very friendly, informative, and caring. Although I take my greyhounds to the clinic, I also see all types of dogs and cats there. The veterinarians are knowledgeable, gentle, follow up with phone call results when necessary and let you know if you need to schedule your pet for additional procedures. They also send you a reminder when your pet needs to be scheduled for an annual examine and/or blood work and/or shots. read more

Amazing experience at Dutton Road Vet when I brought my Cane Corso puppy in to see Dr. Seymore. She was so informative and took excellent care of Bruce. I would recommend her and this clinic to anyone. I live in the city and it is worth the drive up. All of the staff is so friendly and their discounted flea market of unused pet items is amazing! This place is great! Many thanks to the staff. My mother took our chihuahua here for a second opinion. We had taken our dog to another vet for a growth on her stomach. The other vet refused to operate on her because she's an older dog with chronic bronchitis. They aspirated the growth told us it wasn't cancerous and sent us on the way. When we came to Dutton within minutes of them examinating our dog they told us immediately that the growth wasn't a tumor but a hernia!! They operated and within 2 week, out came the stitches and our dog is running around happy as can be. We will be bringing our dog back here for regular check ups and anything else that comes up. read more

BEWARE!!! I have been a CUSTOMER here for a few years now which should count for something. It does not. I recently brought my greyhound in with a ripped off toenail (an oops at the dog park that day). Her foot was filthy and bloody. Dr. Desnoyers did not clean or bandage the wound. I went home with the same filthy foot I arrived with! And I was the one to suggest the appropriate cream for the wound. She only told me to soak it in epsom salt. This cost me $50 for NOTHING. A day or so later I thought I would call the office manager, Donna, to discuss the matter. She was apologetic and told me to ask for Dr. Mills the next time. She said she would have Dr. Mills give me a call as I still needed some help with the foot. I never received a phone call. I left a voicemail and still did not receive a phone call. I was VERY worried about the condition of the toe. I'm thinking I should have received a credit toward a future visit or something to make up for the lack of professionalism. WELL! It gets better!! Two weeks ago I called to inquire about dropping off a stool sample as we are dealing with worms. The girl on the phone proceeds to inform me that I am BANNED from the clinic!!! I phoned a woman who works there that I sort of know and she tells me to email her an outline of the events on the day of the visit and she will pass it on to the appropriate person in charge. I did as requested and sent it off to her. I waited over a week for a reply and received none. I phoned her today only to be told that I "caused a scene". I then phoned to request the office manager to inquire as to whether or not they had this "scene" on their video surveillance. I was not put through to the office manager. Rather the previous woman, Bobbie, called me back to tell me that the doctor does not like it when a patient comes to the clinic for a service and then goes elsewhere for different treatment!!! WTF?! WELL! It gets better!! On October 15, 2018, I brought my beautiful greyhound in for an episode of limping after it appeared she injured herself while arranging her bedding in a furious manner. Dr. Desnoyers had an x-ray taken and then brings in Dr. Mills. They both inform me that my girl has osteo and that they wanted to euthanize her that day. I was devastated! However, I did not have her killed that day. I took her home, thinking I would spend one last night with my beautiful baby. The next day she was fine! I took her to a vet in Egg Harbor the next day for a consultation and also emailed the x-ray image to my other vet who stated "I would not hang my hat on that diagnosis". The two doctors at the Egg Harbor clinic were very skeptical about the osteo diagnosis. The said if it even is osteo, it is very early stage osteo and to euthanize now is very premature. The injury was a partial ACL tear - THE ONLY THING THAT HAD CAUSED THE PAIN - NOT THE OSTEO! In all my distress, I made a call to someone at Dutton clinic (too upset to remember who) to discuss the fact that the doctors wanted to prematurely kill my girl. I guess that is what started this ball rolling. With the kindly treatment from the Egg Harbor vet, we had a wonderful last month together before we finally made the difficult decision to end her life. There was so much love and good food for her last days. I am thankful that I did not let them kill her on October 15. I cry as I type this. And I am banned from this place! Imagine a world where a second opinion is frowned upon and you get banned for seeking one out. Imagine a world where those who do not perform their jobs to the satisfaction of the CUSTOMER are not reprimanded. Imagine a world where the "doctors" do no wrong - kill people and animals and get away with it. I was scared and worried for my new greyhound with her foot wound and did not want to lose her because of the disgusting lack of treatment we received at the clinic in February. Shame on all of you. If I kept returning things to Macy's due to poor quality - WOULD I BE BANNED FROM MACY'S??? You doctors need to humble yourselves - YOU ARE NOT GODS. This place is amazing!!!! The most compassionate staff I have ever encountered and the cost is so much more affordable than private vets. I take care of a large colony of outdoor cats that have had very rough lives. Most of them are beat-up, older cats that a lot of people wouldn't give the time of day. The vets and staff at Dutton Vet Clinic obviously care about the animals as more than just $$$. I also really appreciate that they give you all the options available but don't push unnecessary (and expensive) tests on you. So far, I have brought five cats in and have had fantastic experiences with each of them. I am just about to make an appt for a sixth cat. I truly cannot say enough positive things about this place. I brought my pain in the ass cat here because he has been a little under the weather. I felt like a horrible mom because it's hard to take this cat to the vet so I avoid it until I need to. Of course he poops in the cage before I even get him in the establishment. This cat is trying to embarrass me. After fair warning and the guy bragging he's never been bit, Omar was able to grab him by the scruff and pull him out the cage. My little lion growled, hissed, and swatted. I was in fear for the assistant's life as I was sure my cat was going to break his streak. Omar was very good at his job and carefully went over what was going to happen and gave estimates of how much everything was going to cost all while controlling this beast. He brought my kitty to the back so him and the vet could examine him more safely. Him and the vet came back unscathed and told me that his teeth needed some help. They made me aware of all costs and even gave me a sedative to help ease my kitty's fears for his next visit. I can't thank this staff enough and I'm glad I found a place close to home that is caring and affordable. Also, they give you 2 treats for you to take home for your pet at then end of the visit. They also have a store to shop discounted merchandise that's donated for the greyhound rescue and they have kitty donations. Another added bonus is it's 10% off your first pets first Visit. I took my puppy here for his second round of shots and I was very impressed with the service. The waiting room has beds and toys to help making the wait much more interesting for the four legged patients. The vet tech was friendly and professional and I like the vet. He was efficient and courteous, which I appreciated. And there was no "up sell", also a big plus in my book. Did I mention it was completely affordable? I am by no means a cheap pet parent but it is so refreshing when I don't feel like I am going to have to eat Ramen noodles for 6 months after routine vet care for my animals. The Boarding Staff is the most unprofessional, rude staff I have encountered. I was told to pick my pup up before 4 and pay after I came to pick her up. My daughter picked her up at 3 and they started complaining to her that I didn't pay when I dropped her off at that she is early, and she overheard them in the back saying she's not getting her (f%$###) dog back early, amongst other nasty things. There was miscommunication on time of payment, and that was not on us, my daughter had the payment as we were told! I am floored at how they acted, can't imagine how the dogs are treated in their care, as my pup's mouth was so dry and she was incredibly thirsty when we got home. read more

I have been taking my dog to Dutton Rd. for 4 years for regular check-ups and boarding. Last weekend I was finally able to get my dog in for boarding after trying to contact Michelle for three weeks. When we walked in to drop him off at 1pm they kindly notified us that the boarding staff didn't arrive until 1:30 and apologized. At 1:30 when we came back in Michelle the woman in charge of boarding began yelling at my husband and I. She said we were liars and she would never make an appointment before 2pm. She was screaming at us in the lobby, we weren't even able to make it back to boarding. I did not leave my dog with her. I have never experienced anything so unprofessional in my life. I will NEVER again bring my dog to Dutton Rd. No customer should be called a liar or be screamed at. It was completely unacceptable. read more

I have been coming to Dutton Road Vets since it opened and before that with National Greyhound NGAP. Not just the only people to trust with your greyhound as they are a special breed with special needs, but all animals. Their vets are knowledgeable, down to earth, compassionate and explain things a pet owner can understand. Prices are fair and I believe they also have a senior discount day. Not your average office as they have equipment that rivals the veterinary emergency hospitals. Very impressive facility. read more

Our experience with DRVC has been very positive. One of our six greyhounds was lame for several months and no vet (including our former vet and U of P Vet hospital) could diagnose the possibility of a CORN -- we received phantom pain and possible spinal damage as a diagnosis. DRVC assisted us with getting our princess back on her feet (literally). Our attending vet responds promptly via e-mail or phone with follow up, and the staff is VERY attentive, professional and treats our greys well. There has been some hiccups along the way, but none that I would say were the vet's OR clinic's fault. After 20 years with our former vet, we transferred our records and our greys' care to DVRC, and that to us, SAYS A LOT. read more

Today, my 4 lb yorkie who had diarhea, with blood in her stool, was turned away because I did not have an appointment. Holly was a patient at Dutton Road Vet Clinic. She was seen for a prior medical condition and received all of her shots there. Also, I had 2 senior dogs that were seen at Dutton Rd. Both were treated and eventually put down at their facility. Finally, I have another dog, Lilly, and she received her shots at their facility. I can only imagine how much money I spent on my dogs at Dutton Road Vet Clinic. To be turned away because I did not have an appointment, was unacceptable. I have one other mention, my company pays me to do volunteer work. Last year I used my volunteer hours working at Dutton Road Vet Clinic. They should let all of their customer's know their policy, before making appointments for routine vet care. They will take your money and then when your dog needs to be seen right away, tell you that can't fit you in their schedule. read more
