There is a Texas historical sign next to the entrance and provides some very informative historical information concerning this property. The Cemetery is about 5 acres in size surrounded entirely by farmland and appears to have plenty of space for future interments. The nice thing about this cemetery is the fact that it has been well-maintained and manicured with virtually no fallen headstones. I did come across some Westbrook graves of which I'm sure are related to the ones interred at the Westbrook Memorial Gardens about 10 miles away in Elgin (see separate review). If you're a local history buff, this may be a worthy stop for you. Plenty of photos included in this review to round out the story.

I was surprised to find a Texas historical sign at such a small remote location. The cemetery itself looks reasonably cared for, and occasionally visited. There are some turn-of-the-19th century headstones on the property, but there are two recent burials from 2022 as well. According to Google maps, there is a secondary location on the other side of the road on private property, but I was not able to spot it. This is a peaceful location, surrounded by rural farm land, and far from the noise of 290.

About five or so miles out of Manor on FM-973 lies this large well tended to cemetery. The first…read morething that struck me as odd was the fact that there are no trees on the property. This appears to still be an active cemetery as there are some recent burials here from the last few years and the most recent interment was from August 20, 2022. There's still plenty of room for more. Despite being surrounded on all sides by farmland, there is a new development in the area. This is a well laid out orderly graveyard with many family plot areas. Many of the names found on these stones are of German, Austrian and Swedish descent. There is no parking lot, but there is a gravel road perimeter that runs around the property. There is a decent size covered structure on the property capable of holding funeral services. There are a few graves from the late 1800s, but the majority are from the 20th-century. Two things I did not find are a Texas historical sign, and there were no CSA designated service member graves. Nor did I find any Woodmen of the world markers which are common in this area. I also saw no graves dedicated to the Pfluger or Boatright familys. If you desire to make this your forever home, you'll most likely have to contact the New Sweden Lutheran Church located in the vicinity, but not near the cemetery. This is definitely one of the more unusual cemeteries in the Austin area due to the fact that it is…read moredirectly located at the end of an airport runway. Gaining access to it is a little bit tricky as it is on a small single lane dirt road located just off of 183. It is about 2 to 3 acres in size and there's usually a jet passing overhead every few minutes. This cemetery can also be considered the greenwood cemetery as well. The cemetery itself is neatly arranged with nicely manicured trees and trimmed lawn. One fascinating side effect of the Jets passing so close above you is that exhibits a powerful whistling sound from the wind being sliced through by the aircraft after it has passed by. In other words the vortices that come from the edge of the wings descend into this area and create a strange wind-like phenomena. This is still an active cemetery and there were 2 recent 2022 buriels here. There's over 100 headstones here with plenty of room for more. The dates of the headstones range from the early 20th century to the present day. There were a handful of headstones from the 1880s through the 90s. Apart from the historical aspect of the cemetery, the best part were the planes landing just 100 feet above your head followed by that aerodynamic whistling noise.

Travis County is in the midst of the Texas Hill Country, with lots of rolling hills, with lakes and rivers traversing the county. There's lots of things to do here besides going to Austin- be sure to check out the outdoorsy things that there are to do. There's lots of swimming holes, including Barton Springs. It's also on the edge of the Edwards Plateau, sweeping Texas plains. Travis County is the 5th most populated county in the State of Texas, but home to the capital. Fun fact: Travis County has some of the nation's highest property taxes!

I spotted the cemetery on Google maps and decided to review it in hopes that it would also be included in the Google maps description, which Yelp helps to facilitate. There are many recent graves here and there are some who are reinterred here due to the building of Mansfield Dam nearby. There are graves that go back to the early 20th century and as recently as 2023. This looks to be an active cemetery with additional space for more. Towards the rear of the property, you'll find family plots with the names of Tounguegate and Hudson and others. There are several service members buried here and many graves are covered in pea gravel. The grounds are pretty much overgrown with weeds, and the grave sites are for the most part aligned, but there is some randomness. There are no amenities here nor is there a Texas historical sign denoting anyone of note. Some graves show signs of visitation, but not all of them.

So I'm not sure if this is the right location but on google maps and reviews, it says the location…read moreis next to the train tracks but it is also the train museum and city commerce. This is a little museum for anyone visiting Smithville to check out. The place is only room size but its good just to get a feel for the history of this small little texas town. It brings back all the good-nature qualities of a small American town, nice people, friendly folks, clean area and quiet setting. There is a playground right next to it for the children to play at. The location is at the T-square end of the town's mainstreet. You can literally visit the museum and chamber of commerce and then walk down main street and visit a few shops. There is also a skatepark down the street to the left of this place. Everything is very quiet, minus the trains moving along the tracks behind this place but other than that, you don't evey have to worry about traffic in this area. If your looking for a fun road trip with no problems, drive on over to Smithville and give them your business and tell them I said, "Hello!" :-)

I have to admit I've never done a cemetery review and I noticed there is no Yelp review of this…read morehistorical cemetery located near the center of Manor. The historical plaque posted at the entrance is well worth reading as it highlights the history of this resting place. The oldest person I could find interred here was born in 1796. The newest decedent that I could find deposited here died in 2022. The cemetery is fairly full but it looks like there's enough space left for another hundred plots. This is a nice quiet place to visit in spring time when the bluebonnets and other flowers are in bloom, although the noise of 290 can still be heard. There were many graves dedicated to the Woodmen of the world which may have been a trade union at the turn of the 20th century. There was even a confederate war memorial. So if you want a peaceful place to stroll amongst the formerly living or perhaps be interred here yourself, it's an easy place to walk through. I'm sure the local funeral home can give you the going rate for a plot here.
