There were plenty of various restaurants, working areas and seating areas. The restrooms were very clean. After claiming the luggage, follow the signs to customs. Going through customs was to bad..... the signs will direct you which line to go to. Approximately, 15 minutes later, I was at the custom gate. After answering a few questions, I was on my way. Instead of taking a train, I decided to take an Uber to the hotel. Just follow the signs for the car sharing, taxi and bus area. By the time I got to the designated location, the car was with a few minutes. I didn't find this airport to be very difficult.
Arriving in Brussels, my flight parked at the farthest gate in the Brussels airport and I had a…read morehike to get to border control. The line took almost one hour at 9am on a weekday. Unlike in Germany, it appeared that Brussels had not yet implemented the new customs system at arrivals so non EU citizens queued in one line. EU citizens zipped through with the electronic pass gates. However when it was my turn with the agent I only had to scan the fingers on my right hand, answered a question what do I do for a living and that was it. Less than a couple minutes surprisingl. Baggage claim was right after and then the exit. Very good signage that directed people to the bus, train, parking, etc. When departing Brussels, follow the signs to the appropriate terminal if not checking luggage. Electronic gates required a boarding pass scan to validate trip and gain entrain to the security screening area. At least multiple lines were open so it flowed well. Plastics baggies needed to hold your small liquid containers), water bottles emptied, belts removed but shoes stayed on. Immigration was next and much more efficient on departure. US citizens accessed the electronic gates with just a passport scan and photo. It's not 100% functional as I was told to keep trying gates until my passport was accepted (4th one was the charm). Passport still had to be inspected and stamped afterwards but that was quick. Overall 50-50 rating based on this experience. Hopefully arrivals will be much better after full implementation of the EES screening process.
Holiday decor still up

Walked out thinking I would take a Taxi to my hotel close to the City Center. Taxi driver mentioned it would be almost 200 Euros and suggested going back and taking a shuttle bus. Ok, that math works much better as it was 19 Euros one way. Comfortable coach bus that took about an hour to take passengers to Brussels Central station. I didn't see too many amenities outside of the Terminal. If you have time and not in a rush to get to the City Center, will do. That said, I would pick BRU as the preferred airport.

I tried every access point with no luck and pushed the assistance button but no one answered after nearly 20 minutes so had to pull a ticket and pay another 110 euro when leaving after our trip. I contacted customer service twice before getting a response and, after providing them with proof of multiple payments, they only offered me a parking credit for the next time I fly out of this airport which is 4 hours away from where I live and won't likely ever use again. I insisted on a full refund but never heard back from them. Do not recommend giving them your business. There are other places to park that are cheaper and nearly as close to the terminals.

Past security, there are shops for duty free, and you can relax and have a coffee or adult beverage while waiting for your flight. This airport has a lot of connectivity to other airports throughout Europe and north Africa. We recently caught a direct flight from Eindhoven airport into Marrakesh, Morocco for our seventh marriage anniversary trip and it was so very convenient for us. Some of the boarding procedures struck me as odd because since this is a very small airport, you are made to stand outside and walk to your plane. I have done this another small airports but we were made to stand outside in the freezing rain for a long time due to slight miscommunications before we got the green signal to board our plane. If they could iron out these small inefficiencies, I would give this airport five stars.
Wat een rotzooi hier! Geef mij maar Schiphol...

I grabbed some food here for breakfast prior to my morning flight. They have beer, wine available as well. There was a large variety of breakfast food of mid quality (ie pre-made omelet rounds, dry croissants). I liked the separate snack area with self serve alcohol , expresso machine, fridge with sodas, and bar snacks. There are showers available but major negative was the number of bathrooms. A lounge of this size needs many more!
