This is a perfect little spot right by the train station. Was told to try here as their pancakes was just as nice as the place across the street but less of a line/wait. We were able to get in without a wait but if you plan to come in the evening definitely recommend making a reservation as the location is small and seems to be popular with the locals. I give this restaurant five stars for the food and three stars for the service because we were kept waiting a long long time without any information about why we were kept waiting until we asked. My husband is a diabetic and so I did not appreciate being kept in the dark as to why our food and we ordered a lot of food didn't come out for a long long while however the salad was excellent. We had breakfast here and we're delighted. The service was fast and friendly and our food was delivered hot and quickly. I had the apple crepe and my partner had the chocolate crepe, which came with both dark and white chocolate. We also had a bowl of vegan yogurt with strawberries and it was delicious. We wanted a snack, something light but also a place to sit and plan our day. The staff was friendly and attentive! The menu had nice options. This place fills up fast! We shared a slice of apple pie. This was our first stop in Amsterdam since it's literally right across the street from central station. The location is awesome because after a long day of traveling it was quick and easy to find without having to wait for long lines or sit outside in the cold. I enjoyed the decor of this spot it was very young and hip reminding me a lot of walking into an urban outfitters or Anthropologie store. The employees were all really nice and attentive. I had ordered the black coffee and ginger apricot pancake. I thought the coffee was great, strong just like I like it. The pancake for me was a different experience just because it definitely is not like the pancakes that we have in the states. The pancake was as thin as a crepe and it wasn't super sweet. It was a nice change I definitely felt healthy eating it, but I probably would order something else to try the next time I go. read more

Because what they serve is awful, there was literally $1 dollars worth of ingredients with about 20 chips, little cheese and crème fraiche, the chips were very weird. Easy location by Centraal Station and entrance of Oude Wallen. They have both inside and outside eating. They have a variety of Pannekoeken but the ones we ordered looked good but were not cooked all the way through. Drinks were good. Service was a bit lack luster but accurate. A cute café near the Grand Central Station, it's a convenient bite, and the food is quite good. It's basically modern fusion with a Netherlands touch. There was a stage in this small space, although nobody was playing at the time. The walls are festooned with funky murals. Special mention of the bathroom, which is a weird work of art in itself, with the tiling and angles reminiscent of a Gaudi building. Service was very friendly if, like with most of Europe, slow. The wife, chatting with the server, also learned that a key element of the "Dwaze Zaken" experience is that all the ingredients are locally sourced. Super location with a great view. Those enormous windows frame the world so beautifully. You could make a film by leaving a camera pointing at a window. Inside warm and cosy. Outside dark, cold, wet and chaotic. Some years ago the beers were overpriced but now this cafe can compete with any other. Their selection of special beers is really good and changes regularly. Tonight I'm not eating but I have eaten here often enough to be able to recommend it. The decor, the temporary art exhibitions, and the quirky furniture make this well worth a visit. Really glad I had a meeting here, otherwise I may have missed it. This cafe and restaurant, right across from Centraal Station is right there, but it is hidden, too! Good coffee, cozy atmosphere. I also had a breakfast omlette served on fresh bread that also comes with coffee and fresh juice. The great thing about this is the location - smack dab in the center our tourist-ville yet feels like a local spot you'd find in more relaxed and hip areas of the city. I know I'll end up using this place as a meeting point, too, for those coming in on the train. Rather than meet at CS, meet here. Their dinner menu looks great, too. After our visit tonight, I have to update my review. This evening, Dwaze Zaken closes at 24.00 but they had cleaned their coffee machine before 22.15. Nearly two hours ahead of closing, they were no longer serving any hot drinks (coffee, tea, etc.) and the waiter really wasn't apologetic. We definitely won't return here in the evening...*maybe* we'll give them another try in the afternoon. read more
