Let's break this on down: SERVICE: You'll walk in and feel like your are walking into a friend's house. We were greeted with a smile and a warm "hey there, how are ya?" I'll be honest, this is not the place where the stylists wear chic matching uniforms (in fact, they'll probably be in comfy active wear) or where they offer you a sparkling water or a glass of wine, BUT they are just as nice as can be, and affordable. SKILL: Note: I can only review Tony (I have yet to get a haircut from another resident stylist.) Tony knows his stuff! He has cut pretty much every variety of hair that exists in my family (long and curly, short and curly, short short and straight, and medium length straight) and every cut was a success. He pays extra attention where other salons would not, especially around the ears and at the back of the neck. He'll also take the time to listen to what you want and won't get sassy if you ask for "just a bit more off the top" halfway through. ATMOSPHERE: Just prepare yourself: SophistiCuts is located in an old residential-looking structure tucked away from the main road, and the inside is just as unimpressive as the outside. At the appointment, I was worried if I was going to be able to try on any of the makeup products due to my serious allergies to some ingredients commonly found in beauty products.   Elaine and Peggy went out of their way to verify the ingredients in each product to ensure it was safe for me to use or to avoid. They took my allergies seriously, which allowed me to feel safe and comfortable. I've always had an attachment to my long hair, and Elaine recommended that I cut it to my collar bone. Elaine's knowledge of style and warm personality allowed me to follow through with her recommendations. Since the cut, I've received many compliments! Elaine held up many colors to my face and picked out the best ones. She also picked out the best makeup colors and taught me how to apply the makeup.  I felt beautiful! After the appointment, I was sent a customized color fan that I used in my closet to determine the clothes that were not the right colors for me and  donated those clothes. It's such a happy place to be and it's three in one with the makeup, hair, and photography. The studio is next door but they're connected. I came here to get my hair and makeup done last minute for a wedding. They were able to fit me in and were a delight to talk to. I ended up having to do my hair twice because the curls fell quicker than expected and they were able to fix it and didn't charge any extra. Makeup was awesome and the lady was super cool about everything. I have crazy sensitive skin but have no experience with makeup so I wasn't really able to tell her much about what usually itches except for my eyes. She was really patient and found some stuff that wouldn't bother my skin. I really enjoyed coming here and really felt taken care of. My hair fell down quickly anyway because it was windy but I still loved what they did with it and it had a nice design to it even when it fell. I would definitely come back here. I might even do my hair and makeup the same way when we do our 10 year renewal of our vows!
