It was foodie time at Borough Market on Tuesday (our last full day in London), and it was foodie…read moreheaven for me and my family. We enjoyed walking around and seeing a wide variety of food options! The whole market area was clean and organized when we got there at 9am. No lines yet. Long lines did start forming around 9:45am when the hot foods were ready but moved pretty quickly. We tried: * The Ginger Pig - Traditional Sausage Roll * Wild Mushroom Risotto - Spelt Risotto with Truffle Shavings * Turnips Greengrocer - Chocolate Covered Strawberries * The Black Pig - The Best One With Crackling * Turkish Deli - Turkish Delight & Turkish Coffee * Bread Ahead - Crème Brûlée Donut

It is a farmer's type market with some prepared foods, which were top notch. We walked the entire thing and grabbed as much as we could to eat. There are plenty of food places just outside the space that are open later as well. I got some meat sticks from a vendor, sort of farmers market style. There was also another stand that had fruit in a cup with chocolate. Our best deal were some arepas that were half off because it was closing time and they wanted to get rid of them. This isn't the place to take pictures, but rather to immerse yourself in all the goodness that is here.

Muesli Mountain is great- if you haven't yet stumbled across it, I suggest you check it out pronto!…read moreHidden away in a yard behind Queen's Park Rd, it is essentially a mini open market, with stalls selling all sorts of yummy food and interesting arts and crafts produced locally. The ethos is basically local local local! It's a really lovely alternative place to pick up freshly made bread (from the Lighthouse bakery) and organic fruit and veg. At the moment there is a stall selling and renting (!) live Xmas trees in pots and there is also a great selection of Christmassy gift ideas. You can even pick up sustainably sourced logs and kindling for lovely winter open fires. The market is open every day except Sunday and if you live in the Hanover area it's a really great resource. Even if you live further afield, Muesli Mountain is worth a trek. It is an inspired project with a lovely atmosphere- one of those little gems that makes you so grateful you live in Brighton.

Think Local, Buy Local, BE Local…read more As straplines go, Museli Mountain Market's is short, sweet and spot on. Run by a team of Hanover residents, it's an open market that aims to provide other locals with a space to meet, chat and learn how to be more sustainable. There's fresh organic fruit, salad and vegetables from local farms and allotments, gorgeous bread from Lighthouse Bakery and store cupboard essentials like pasta, rice, flour and cereals. They also sell local seeds and plants, cleaning products and Ecover refills. As a girl with a sweet-tooth, my only grumble is the lack of fresh and tasty, locally baked cakes!

We have driven past this place so many times and said we should go in...we did a couple of weeks…read moreago Well, its amazing...what doesn't it have that you didn't know you needed! Not only are we talking about a full service, excellent Farm Shop, it also seems to have part of the shop as a Tardis... I mean - can you really still buy Surf?! And it is definitely bigger on the inside. There are so many nice fresh things...and then you begin to wander about to see what else there is...and next you are looking at things you had in your youth...the next minute you need a trolley...frankly, make a list beforehand and try and keep some sort of order to your visit A great experience, well-staffed, friendly and knowledgeable The Tardis will return you to both your chosen and current time...no Weeping Angels...I think

You could quite easily…read moredo your whole week's shop here, and the prices are not too OTT either, considering the environment you're in. The range of fresh fruit and vegetables from their own fields and greenhouses out the back is substantial, and they also buy things in to increase the availability of products at more tricky times of year. The range of tinned and dried goods is superb with some real delights and obscurities, particularly among the chutneys and relishes. There is also an excellent frozen foods section with everything from apricot danish pastries to mixed summer berries to diced onions (really!), which you buy by the bag, choosing as much or as little as you want. We find the mixed berries particularly good for making smoothies and coulis, and much better value than the supermarket versions of the same. Local, fresh eggs are also to be highly recommended and the cakes and bread are excellent!

Situated in the St John Ambulance Hall, directly on the Victoria Road Car Park, this lovely country…read moremarket runs every Friday, 10-12 a.m. They sell a delightful seasonal cornucopia of lovingly homemade produce including Christmas cakes, puddings, crumbles, Victoria sponge cakes, fruit breads, dinner rolls, tea bread, fairy cakes, jams, marmalades, chutneys, mincemeat, and so on. All these items are locally produced by stall holders who hold hygiene certificates, and who have to make and package their goods to exacting standards. Everything is freshly made the day before or even on the day, so you can freeze it at home. You can place orders for almost anything you want - sausage rolls, handmade chocolates, elaborately decorated celebration cakes, whatever - knowing that it will be made locally, from scratch and from quality ingredients, with no fillers, chemicals or preservatives. This hidden gem of Sussex currently has a loyal following of the older generation, but young mothers and others inspired by Jamie Oliver's love of good food are starting to realise what a fantastic find this is. As well as all the delicious cakes and savouries, there is a huge variety of craft work - children's knitwear, handmade cards and calendars, jewellery and home grown seasonal fruits, plants and hanging baskets. You never know what will appear from one week to the next, which keeps you coming back for more ! Entry is free, the hall is wheelchair and pushchair accessible, there are refreshments on offer and car parking is very easy since the hall is on the car park. You can park for about 40p for 20 minutes. Horley Country Markets, St. John Ambulance Hall, Massetts Road, Horley, West Sussex, RH6 7DE.
