Not recommended. I had a very strange experience with this photographer. My fiancé and I decided to elope to Maui, and was looking for a photographer to shoot some photos for the day. Emailed Dylan, and he encouraged me to ask questions and to give him a call. However, it took him over 10 days to reply to simple, basic questions, such as pricing and availability, and he didn't answer the phone when I called. By the time he got back to me, it was over 10 days later. He said he had an emergency to take care of and seems to have a lot of personal problems. If you've got all the time in the world to find a photographer, and to plan your wedding, then you may not mind his snail's pace in getting your questions answered. But if you want a photographer who's more sensitive and responsive to your timeline, and who's prompt in replying to your questions, phone calls, and emails, then stay away from this photographer. Imo, this photographer is over-rated, scattered brain, unprofessional, hard to get a hold of, and unreliable. read more

I seen some of Dylans work when I met him at my aunts wedding but I booked him when I started planning my own. My husband and I are so happy we hired Dylan as our photographer for our wedding at a great price. He was recommended to us from Geri. When we first wanted him, he has another project to do so we were sad that we weren't going to get him as our photographer. We tried to find another photographer but we couldn't. We contacted him again a few days later and surprisingly he was available. Which we were so great fun for, we heard such great feed from Geri and just wanted him. We we're able to meet up with him to get to know each other a little bit. When meeting him, how he was taking about photography and telling us about taking photos, you can just hear in his voice how passionate he is about photography. I've never heard anyone talk about photography the way he does. Wedding day came, he told us how to pose which made me look more curvy, C's and S's. Geri told how critical he is which is what we wanted. He didn't disappoint. He made sure to take pictures of everyone. He even made sure to even add my daughter in the photos as she was little bride. He was able to take pictures of everything and everyone. I just love the laughter of my families and friends faces that he was able to capture. I look stunning and my husband looks so handsome. We love the photos. He gave us a lot of photos too much that it had to be put on two thumb drives. I liked that he gave us everything so I can chose which one I like more. We have never met a more passionate photographer. We hired Dylan to photograph our wedding. Before we decided to hire him, he spent over an hour showing us different photos and different ways to pose- even though we were going to hire him anyways! He talks a little fast, but it's because he's so passionate about what he's doing. The day of the wedding, he spent the whole day with us from about 10a to 10p. He took our getting ready photos, ceremony, and reception photos and we are so happy with the results. He captured every detail of our wedding and was very kind, even when we asked to take table photos during dinner at the last minute. It's been years since we saw Dylan Dawson but he really did a spectacular job with our wedding photos that I was excited to write a review for him. We did check out a lot of photographer's portfolios but we liked his a lot. It's probably easy to make attractive people look like models, but he also made everyday average looking people look happy, in love and like models and so because the price was also right, we hired him. He offered his services for the entire day and we appreciated the value of that. We also really liked the experience of him as our wedding photographer. He made us feel like we were models, he made it fun to take the photos, and he was so passionate and about get fab photos like other reviewers mentioned, that he made the photo taking super fun and made the day more exciting. He also called his friend for assistance when my make up was less than spectacular to help me fix it for free. Why five stars? Dylan is a true professional, passionate, knowledgeable and has the talent to create beautiful photographs. I had a company where we did promotions, shows and a magazine for modified european automobiles and for health/beauty/modeling. I have a deep back ground in creative photography. As we were preparing for our wedding my fiancé and I did the expo tour with the large selection of photographers, we went though ads and asked for recommendations. Because of my background I was disappointed at the quality and creativity of what was being offered. I met a lot of nice, hard working people but the photos were incomplete in setup or copies of other great photographic work but poorly executed. Sorry, just being honest. One month before our wedding we met Dylan at the Ko'olau Ballroom bridal event. Dylan greeted us and as my now wife talked to him, I looked at his work. I saw layers of complexity in each photo which contributed to a beautiful snap shot in time. Each photo had a message in mind. He also used the best features of what was available and reduced the subjects short comings with careful placement and touches. he also used elements beyond the people to add to the creativity of the photograph. I could see similar results to what I had grown accustom to in my business. Then I spoke to Dylan and the passion, talent and knowledge became readily apparent. We felt right with Dylan and inquired about his availability and compensation. Since our wedding is not on a Friday or Saturday we were fortunate to sign him up and for a reasonable rate. Before our wedding Dylan took two hours to get to know what we were looking for and had us go through mock posing so we can maximize getting great shots on our wedding day. His suggestions and patience to go over to prepare was very comforting for the both of us. He had not gotten paid a dime and he has already invested 2 hours of prep with us and an hour at the expo. On the day of the wedding, Dylan showed up early and went to work. He continued for over an hour past our agreed to time and wanted to continue shooting. We got to see some of the shots as he was working, amazing. We can't wait to see the results. Bottom line, I found a gem of a photographer in Dylan. I will update when I get the photographs. Wow!!! Dylan did our wedding photos this past May in the north shore and prior to our wedding he scoped out the perfect beach/cliff scenery and the pictures were amazing!! Granted I had to do a little hike in my wedding dress but I was willing to take this perfect opportunity for good shots. He is very talented and has so much passion.
