My husband and I are seriously the most awkward when it comes to photo shoots, and I feared our photos would look forced. Leave it to Floyd to figure out a way for us to look like "us." He was very comfortable to work with, easy going, and made everything feel relaxed. When it came time for family photos, I feared it would be chaos since both families were so large, but Floyd kept everyone on track and got them done efficiently (and beautifully) so we could move on the partying! Floyd was recommended to us by our wedding coordinator. It can be really daunting as a same sex couple to find vendors who will make you feel comfortable. Floyd was wonderful to work with. He was very professional while being laid back, which really matched our energy that day (surprisingly!). He did a great job working with my wife. We are not exactly people that enjoy being in the limelight but he made us feel special and at ease as he was telling us when to hold hands, when to move, when to kiss, etc. The photos didn't take too long to receive after our event. I found Floyd early in the wedding planning through Instagram! I had met with a few photographers before but I wasn't really sold on any of them. Not that they weren't good, but either their "vibe/energy level" didn't match ours, or their photography style was too "intense" and "serious" (you know those photoshoots where it looks like the couple is about to face the apocalypse together?), or their prices were way out of our budget. Floyd is such a talented and experienced photographer and highly recommend him if you're looking someone to capture that love in the air! Initially, I was not even going to have a photographer at my wedding ceremony because everyone was booked. I was having the hardest time finding one with the timeline we were trying to follow and my hands were pretty tied at that point. Luckily, Floyd was available and willing to help us out (on short notice) and take our photos on our special day. Floyd is very reliable and responsive when it comes to correspondence. Keep in mind, which is great, because it takes a lot of pressure off when it comes to planning you wedding! He met us at our location prior to everything starting so he had pictures from the second I started walking down the beach to end of a beautiful sunset! Throughout the ceremony, you can barely even notice him snapping away (best candid pics ever!). We took both family photos and couple photos. This review is long overdue but here nonetheless. I found Floyd on Yelp (of course) as well as 2 other photographers. After viewing their online portfolios, Floyd's work stood out the most as classy and modern with the magazine style photos which is what I was looking for. I immediately e-mailed him and got a response within the next day. I was ecstatic that I was able to book my first choice and just as ecstatic that he was prompt with his responses. We got married at the Royal Hawaiian and Floyd knew that place like the back of his hand. He chose amazing spots for us indoors considering it rained the day of our wedding and the pictures turned out gorgeous despite the gloomy backdrop we were handed that day. He captured amazing moments that make you go "ooooh" and "awwww" and seeing the photos helped me relive the night that seemed to go faster than I would've imagined. My only regret is that I didn't book him longer, even though 1 week prior I already extended him by an additional hour. Nevertheless, Floyd spent every second working. Not once did I see him sitting down or wandering off. I even saved a seat and the full dinner for him to enjoy, but being the professional he is, he continued to work through dinner to make sure he didn't miss any meaningful moments. Doing wedding vendor research from 2,000 miles away was a difficult task. So before I made any "serious" inquires, the companies I would consider had to meet the following criteria: 1) have a well developed website showcasing recent works 2) have good/great reviews on various sites and 3) answer my inquires in a timely manner (email worked best for me since I work 8-5 Monday - Friday so, all of my communication had to be done in the evening via email).
