I have been going to Dymin for about 15 years for all of my computer needs. I have found them to be knowledgeable, friendly, efficient and reasonably priced. I am a senior citizen, and they have always treated me with extra attention. Each time I needed a new Laptop, the transition was seamless with the extra touch of locating special files and having them readily available on desktop-with verbal instructions and offer to help if I had any trouble accessing. My laptop died this Monday night, took it in AM Tuesday, diagnosed by that afternoon and picked up my new unit Wednesday. Everytime I go here I seem to go home with a new problem. The problem I go in for has rarely ever been fixed. I have to deal with explaining the same problem to 3 different staff members who seemingly don't communicate with each other, and they always seem to forget important details and deadlines. Had issues with a laptop not going to sleep and not waking up correctly, and remembered we'd used Dymin for a couple of issues in the early-2000's, so I took it in to them. They called back within the promised 24 hours and were having trouble identifying the problem, but we agreed upon some additional troubleshooting, and they were then able to quickly replicate the issue. They tried a number of things, and ultimately decided the motherboard was bad. The cost to replace that was more than I was willing to spend, so I just had to pay the diagnostic fee, and they got the computer at least back to the condition it was when I took it in, if not slightly better. They kept in communication with me, were always polite and thorough in their explanations, and offered reasonable options. I swear Dymin worked day and night to help us out and get things up and running. They kept us up to date and tried various ways to help us and were successful! MOST AMAZING SERVICE EVER! My friend recommended Dymin when my laptop was on its last leg. I am a court reporting student, and my assignments and my tests are all online. I had to forgo daily tests as well as my national certification tests because my laptop crapped out on me in the middle of the tests. I took it to Dymin for diagnosis AND I picked up a refurbished laptop for $300 which works like a brand new, high-dollar laptop, and they diagnosed and fixed my old laptop in 24 hours as promised for $100. The charging port went bad on my laptop. Took it in and they said it would be a $150 one time labor fee. Then I recieved a phone call the next day. They told me the deal had changed. Instead of a one time fee of $150 for labor now it was $150 per hour for labor....Why? Well because my laptop has windows 8 instead of windows 10. So I said no thanks and went down to pick it up. Then they informed me that I still had to pay the $150 because they had to turn the computer on and boot it up to find out it had windows 8. They could have just asked me first???? Well they got payed for doing nothing and I got ripped off. So in their parking lot I randomly called the nearest computer repair shop(literally just 10 minutes away) Schrock innovations. They said no money up front totally free estimates even if the computer can't be fixed. They said it didn't matter that it had windows 8. Totally free honest upfront business. Dont go to Dymin! I used Dymin for years and after they moved to West Des Moines I had moved away but upon my return I took my computer in, my laptop, and found out the cord we ordered was not any good but the laptop was fine...I moved away and up to Michigan and I had some questions so gave them a call and the fellow was so very helpful and even told me where to look for a computer for a friend all the way up here...I trust the employees at Dymin and until I find someone up here in Northern Michigan I will probably keep giving them a call when I have questions because they know their business and they can be trusted...thank you Dymin for being on the other end of my phone calls...Maggie read more

This would be a 1 star review, but the guys at Dymin tried to right a wrong after I called them out on their repeated shenanigans, so I added a star out of pity. These guys will try to save a buck in any shady way possible in order to maximize their profits. For most people who don't know the ins-and-outs of computers, they might be a good place to get comprehensive service and repairs, but I know at least a little bit about computers and could tell they were repeatedly cheating me. I simply had a broken hinge on my laptop's lid... when I took it to them I specifically told them to fix that issue and NOTHING ELSE, since my computer was otherwise working great and I know how some places like to magically "find" all sorts of issues just to rack up the charges on customers. The lid issue was fixed after a full week, but they installed USED parts, and this is on a computer that is only one year old (there is NO WAY they could not have found new parts as far as I'm concerned). These used parts were obviously worn and not at all like-new to my eyes (scratches/scuff marks on the backing of the lid, for example), the first instance of them trying to make a few extra bucks. When I picked the computer up, it was all of a sudden much slower than when I took it into them (it took over 10 minutes to start up, something that only took about 2 minutes before I brought it in to them to be serviced). This issue obviously needed to be fixed, and when they looked into it they told me I needed a new hard drive, which would cost $60. I asked what they had done to cause my computer to turn into molasses, but they would/could not tell me anything. After they put the new hard drive in and were attempting to copy my files over, they realized I had a lot more data than the typical person might have since I have tens of thousands of photographs and several drone video files. This lack of hard drive space was only an issue because they sneakily tried to put in a 500 GB hard drive to replace my original 750 GB hard drive without telling me about this size downgrade. One would expect to have their computer returned to them with the same specifications that it originally had, but instead they tried to sneak a smaller hard drive into my computer... another example of them trying to make a few extra bucks. I complained and they easily could have upgraded me to the hard drive size that I originally had, but said they could not do so without an extra charge. Also because my hard drive had to be replaced, all of my applications were uninstalled and caused me several days of inconvenience of reinstalling everything. Their excuse for all of these issues was that the typical customer gets confused by computer lingo, and because of this they try to keep things simple and not tell the customer all of the nitty-gritty details. That's understandable and fine if they are honest and not pulling shady stuff, but the only problem with this is that I know enough about computers to realize they were cheating me on several occasions. Like I said, this would be only a 1 star review except they tried to make amends after I made it clear to the manager that I was unhappy and gave me a $50 gift card and transferred all of my data free of charge to make up for all the nonsense I had to put up with (and likely to dissuade me from writing a negative review like this). For me, a simple fix ended up taking almost 2 full weeks before I got my computer back in my hands in working condition, and even then it took me another 3+ days to get everything organized like I had it before I took it in to Dymin Systems and I was left with a hard drive that is 33% smaller than I started with (and almost completely full as soon as I got my computer back because of the amount of files I have). Do not go here if you dislike being cheated by a company just so they can maximize their profits in a shady way. I was able to tell I was getting cheated, but I have a feeling the average customer would not even know they were getting screwed. I'll be going elsewhere for future computer repairs or service. read more

We've had great experiences with Dymin in the past, but this time, the tech seemed far more concerned with the upsell than with cleaning our current machine. We have a 7-year-old PC that we use only for Word, social media, and iTunes, as we have newer laptops and tablets we use for nearly everything else, but the tech spent two conversations telling me it wouldn't be worth their time to fix the PC, as it was too old. I was pretty insistent, and long story short, they were ultimately able to add memory and repair the faulty CD/DVD drive for $151, which was a fair price and certainly more than I would have spent for a new computer.
