We were here for a birthday party and instead of being fully staffed having enough staff there to teach and help all the kids climb they make each parent be with 1 kid...oops well I have two kids meaning that 1 of them couldn't participate. Absolutely absurd. 2. If you are FAT or TALL or your kid is FAT you will not fit in the small triangle that you must humiliating squeeze though to be able to do the "caving" I saw a grown woman crying because guess what ...if you don't fit your kids can't participate. You need to go with them. and for gooood reason....the caves are pure terror... 3. CAVE trauma ...Children including my own daughter got stuck and lost in the "caves" my 11yr old was banging on the wall for over 20mins until a random person found her, you can't hear her because it's loud in there. I saw another two kids terrified and hysterical looking though a small plastic window in the wall..they were stuck and NO staff helped a parent had to try to go in and find them but got lost. 4. The rock climbing itself was not fun at all the treks up are *VERY* short and most are super easy even for kids...ropes dangling all over, just awful. I've been to several climbing gyms and was a novice climber for fun in my younger years. I've never been to such a poorly organized kids party where adults and children alike were crying. If you are thin go alone and plan to avoid the caves you might like it there. Otherwise avoid. See the triangle that all adults and all children must fit though for your kids to even go to the birthday party if that alone is not awful enough if you don't fit or happen to be claustrophobic there is no staff there that can go on with the kids. Dirty and it's clear that the mats, walls and definitely the "caves" do not get cleaned. Avoid at all costs.

It takes about 3 classes for kids to warm up but my child really enjoys, singing and dancing. Its a great introduction to rhythm, melody, ethnic and heritage songs and different meters. Their favorite part of class is when Matt dumps out a big pile of instruments for them to explore. The class is a little loud and overstimulating for me as an adult at times but I really enjoy doing this with them. This will be our 3rd session. I also appreciate Matts laid back deamenor and flexibility. Sometimes my kid is acting up but Matt will dance with them or work to include them in the class more.

The indoor pool is on the small side, but it's also (as far as I know) the only indoor pool that doesn't require an apartment lease or hotel room booking within the city of Albany, which makes it the biggest indoor pool in town. The gym facilities also look pretty extensive, but I haven't actually come for the gym yet -- I'm in it for the swimming. The staff I've interacted with have been universally nice and helpful. My biggest complaint would be that the indoor pool closes so early, I assume for staffing reasons. Also, keep in mind that they require you to reserve your lane ahead of time for the indoor pool. I like the policy, since it saves you from going to the gym, getting changed and showering only to realize that there are no free lanes, but if you like to be more spontaneous about your workouts the JCC pool might not be for you.

There are a heck of a lot of services and activities associated with the JCC. The largest would seem to be the nursery school, the gym and the pool. If you had a nursery school aged kid, and enjoyed to lift weights and swim for some good low impact cardio, you would probably never leave this place. But that's just not me.

My son started when he was…read more3 years old (they have since changed the minimum age requirement) and now is getting ready to test for his black belt at almost 11 years old. He went from white to black in the little lions program and then white to (soon) black in the junior program. I have nothing but amazing things to say. The instructors really care about the kids. They don't just know their names, they know their interests, personalities, siblings names, friends. They take the time to really knew each student. They do not push kids through the belt levels either. They make sure each child is really ready to move up before they invite them to promotion testing. My son has ADHD and really struggled especially when he was little. My husband and I agree that a major reason our son is now disciplined, respectful, and can focus better is because of Master Yang's. I even tried Krav Maga and made some great friendships during my brief time in class. Pregnancy and knee surgery kept me from going back but my son continues in their taekwondo program. This studio is more than just a place to learn martial arts, it's a place that teaches a lifestyle, character development and perseverance. Master Yang's quickly became like a home to us and we have loved every minute of our experience. I am beyond thrilled that my son wants to continue beyond his black belt at Master Yang's because I could not bear the thought of leaving our 2nd home. So if you or your child decide at any time that this activity is not for you, Too Bad! U still are responsible for that bill for the next 4-7 years rather you're in class or not. OK, I get that this is a contract and you have to pay your bills. What I don't get, is that Master Yang claims to b about community. When I spoke to his Director Ashley, about my financial problems that I started having, she just nodded me to death, said she understood. As I had to leave the class indefinitely because my electric was getting disconnected, numerous car repairs, and well, just a lot of life hitting me at once. This company does not care if u will b without heat, a vehicle, a job or anything else that makes it a lil easier to get thru life. They want their money, even if you're homeless. They hold one charity event a year n claim to b about community. But yet, they can watch a member of their community fall, n proceed to burden them even more financially by sending a 4000.00 bill every month with a 20.00 late fee added every month. I should mention, joining this class is what contributed to my financial problems. As they convince you that u can not proceed in class without certain equipment, or u need certain equipment, or they're changing the uniform. They want u to buy, buy, buy every month there's something else u have to have for class. If u r not fully buying whatever n whenever they tell u, than u can't participate in class. They help u get into a finacial hole, but don't help u get out. I'm not asking for charity, I'm not even asking for food that I have little of to feed my family. I have no school stuff for my middle schooler, n they want me to pay a now over 4000.00 bill eventhough I've been trying to get out of this contract since April. It just goes to show, business is business, when it comes to money. Even to the people that claim to b there for community. The floor in the studio is so comfortable, my knees, feet, and hips are happy. No matter what mood I'm in when I walk in the door, I always leave relaxed and clear headed. However, the classes are filled with many a level of expertise, so whether you've practiced for years or not, there is definitely a place for you. I am taking Kat Abram's classes and she is pretty fantastic. She is open and encouraging, and not at all intimidating. She wants you to be comfortable and her classes are very invigorating; both spiritually and physically. I have only been to 3 classes and I can already feel my body in a different way. It's funny how you can become aware of something, and then suddeny because of this, that thing starts to change. In this case, that thing is my body, and it is wonderful. Aside from all the personal fulfillment, it's also super local and pretty affordable. It's located right where Washington and Lark intersect. The yoga studio is on the second floor and the space is perfect. The room is strewn with persian rugs and there is a constant flow of light leaking in through the tall windows, making the room open and bright. Needless to say, it is a very comfortable environment for stretching, breathing, and meditating. My package cost about $120 for 7 classes; not too bad, if you ask me. It is pretty fantastic to treat yourself to something like yoga at least once a week. There are a variety of teachers and classes and they offering everything from meditation to djembe drumming.
