If I could leave a zero-star rating for B & R Roofing, I would. I have used this company twice, and…read moreon both occasions, Andrew responded promptly and completed the work quickly. However, less than two years after the first repair, the roof began leaking again in the exact area they had previously worked on. I contacted Andrew multiple times by phone and text message, but he never responded. As the leak worsened - becoming more severe than the original issue - I also sent emails and called the business line, yet received no return calls or responses of any kind. After exhausting all attempts to reach B & R Roofing, I hired another roofing company to repair the issue. That company documented B & R Roofing's prior work and confirmed that the repairs were incomplete. Specifically, B & R Roofing only patched a very small section where the leak was visible and did not replace the roof underlayment, despite quoting and accepting payment for that work. After reviewing other customer feedback, it is clear this is a pattern in how B & R Roofing operates. I strongly recommend that potential customers carefully consider their business practices before hiring them. I will also be filing a formal complaint with the Santa Barbara Contractors Board

Texted pictures of the finished work also. He is very professional and knowledgeable. This time we called him because our panels didn't seem to be working correctly as not much energy was being saved in the battery. I figured part of it was dirty panels. He cleaned them and also ended up taking down an old dish, that he thought might be causing some of the problem. He had me send him pics of our solar battery percentages and also had me send him a couple of past months of use from our solar company app. He felt there was a problem and suggested we call our solar company. Sure enough, we have 5 panels that aren't working. If it wasn't for Aaron, we may not have known that for another month or maybe more.

He responds to texts and phone calls right away and explains the process and equipment so you understand what is involved. We have 13 panels so not a huge job. He was in and out in about an hour. I didn't realized how dirty our panels were until I took the photos...yikes! Our production has improved and I feel so much better having them cleaned. Aaron suggested a maintenance schedule and his pricing is very fair. We are so thrilled to find someone that we trust and will take care of our very pricy investment.

We wholeheartedly recommend Tunnell Roofing for roofing projects!…read moreWe do a lot of research and have an extensive vetting process before hiring any company to do our home improvement projects. Tunnell Roofing is a bbb.org accredited 3rd generation Santa Maria family-owned business since 1949 - which implies they must be pretty good to be around that long! After whittling down our choices to three Central Coast roofing companies, we scheduled interviews with their representatives. John Tunnell gave the best impression, made great recommendations, provided any desired roofing materials, was the lowest bid without any hidden fees, and provided more services than the other companies (power washing, prepping, priming, painting all fascia & soffits). Instead of trying to sell more materials, John gave logical reasons why we didn't need more/costly materials. It can be very nerve wracking, to say the least, about a roof-tear off and replacement. John always promptly responded to all our MANY questions and made us feel like we were in good hands. We also extensively research materials for all our home improvement projects. We really liked the Westlake Villa 900 Charleston low-profile cement tile but didn't know what underlayment to use that had a good warranty. John recommended Westlake's SwiftGuard underlayment, which we later discovered Westlake gives the same 50-yr tile warranty on their underlayment when you have both installed - that's unheard of!! We also decided to go with Westlake's raised battens (to prevent potential water buildup behind them) and their raised bird stops in charcoal black (to match drip-edges). The bird stops and drip-edges look like a pretty dark-brown vs black, which goes very nicely with the terra-cotta color (Charleston) tiles. We replaced our dormer attic vents with low-profile O'Hagin vents, which are hardly noticeable. Also went with Consumer Reports' highly recommended Behr Marquee exterior semi-gloss (Ultra Pure White) paint - it's beautiful and should be easy to clean. One thing we do want to note from our research is to beware of installing a self-adhesive underlayment directly on a plywood roof deck - see YouTube videos on what's required when replacing it. The crew John Tunnell provided were very professional, did a fantastic job, and finished ahead of schedule. Our new roof looks amazing -- thank you!!
