I was pleased with the quality of the work he performed, and that is one of the reasons I continued using his services and supported his business. Unfortunately, my complaint is not about the quality of his lawn work. My complaint concerns the handling of my money and a commitment he made to me in writing. After lawn service was promised on July 29, July 31, and again on August 1, 2026, but was not completed, Zak agreed to refund me a total of $132.00. On August 2, he wrote, "You will be receiving your $80 back for the cut," confirmed that he would also return the additional $52, and then stated, "I have processed your return and you will receive your refund within the next two weeks." I took Zak at his word. I did not continue calling or contacting him. I respectfully waited the full two weeks he requested. As of August 24, 2026, I still had not received the promised $132.00 refund. For me, this has now become an issue of integrity, honesty, accountability, and honoring one's word. When a business owner tells a customer in writing that a refund has been processed and gives a specific timeframe for receiving it, I believe the customer should be able to rely on that commitment. As a senior citizen, retired federal government employee, and retired U.S. Marine with 21 years of service, integrity and keeping one's word mean a great deal to me. I can acknowledge that Zak does outstanding lawn work, while at the same time being deeply disappointed with how this financial matter has been handled. I am sharing my personal experience fairly and factually so other consumers can make their own informed decisions. My request remains simple: honor the written commitment and return the $132.00 that was promised to me.

Mark met with me within a couple of days to survey my property and gave me his expert opinions and recommendations. He offered so much more than I had envisioned and gave me several options to chose from. I chose the option to have my front and side yard fully covered with sod. I also had a driveway drainage issue when it rained, causing water to pool in my driveway up to several days. I was so impressed with Mark's patience in answering my questions and thoroughly explaining the steps on how the sod project would be completed, I had him include the estimate for a french drain to be installed as well. I accepted the offer and Mark provided timely communications and updates before the project began. On the day of the project, Mark and his crew were extremely organized and work very well together. The old grass was removed and the clay soil was prepped and leveled. The 100 ft french drain was installed during the yard preparation. The top soil was applied and leveled. The sod arrived on time and installation began on the morning of its arrival. Mark and his crew had all the sod laid quickly. The team was very friendly and respectful of my property. One of the crew members found an expensive drill and gave it to me so I could return it to the Spectrum technician who left it when he was moving the cable lines. I worked from home and I was not disturbed by the work going on outside from the crew. All the work was completed in two days. Now I have an HOA friendly yard! Then I began to get complaints--things like, "I'm running out of ideas", or my favorite "This is taking up more time than my $10,000 and $20,000 jobs I have scheduled, and I can't make any money." As the home owner, I have the right to have a garden that I will enjoy, so who wants to hear complaints from someone that you hire? We eventually finalized everything, and set a date. His crew was great! Friendly, knowledgeable, and did a great job--garden looks great. They solved my drainage problem, so I no longer had the threat of water destroying my plants. That was the initial plantings. The crew that came in to finish the 2nd set of plants wasn't so hot. They neglected to put down mulch, and living in the South, you have to have it, so I had to buy it myself and spread it. I asked them about it, and they said Nick said not to--mystery to me. This is not the cheapest landscaping company in Charlotte NC, but they had such grand reviews, I decided to go with them. I'm hoping I can make my garden grow, as I've not had luck in the past, but I'm not even going to bother asking for replacements if some of them die, as the 1-year warranty is iron clad with watering requirements, pest control, soil issues, etc.

He completed some insulation costing $700 and disappeared. 'Paul' stopped taking our calls or texts and refused to refund our money. He was professional in the beginning and claimed to be a 'godly man.' This is a tactic to get your guards down. We have started a civil lawsuit as well as made a complaint with CMPD. It's so unfortunate that people don't want to earn a living the honest way and have no problem stealing from other hard working people. There are several business with similar names, please dont fall victim to Paul Stamey. Do your research, ask about licensing and insurance, I found this out the hard way. There is a creek that runs through my back yard. The creek couldn't handle the water flow, which caused my backyard and both sides surrounding my house to be underwater. I took photos so I could show the constructors before hiring. I had 2 companies come out. They were rated 5 on Yelp but I had no connection or felt they had any concern about my problem after viewing my photos. One company spent 15 minutes and never sent an estimate. The other company spent 10 minutes and quoted a price of purchasing another home. Plus I would have been in violation with the Army Regulatory guidelines if I allowed them to do the work. The third estimate was from GreenMan Joshua (one of the owners) came out viewed the photo and walked my land. He is very knowledgeable about land, nature and various regulations. Erin (the other owner) is skilled with various plantations that absorb water or beautification. What really impressed me about them beside being family owned is that I could feel their passion/excitement/drive in what they do and how they didn't. mind educating me. Now I am empowered and comfortable. I am very grateful and thankful for them and plan to use them for Stage 2 of my project.
