We visited E. Carroll Joyner Park for Easter and brought Luna, along with my nephew for a little Easter egg hunt. The park is very pet-friendly, with plenty of open space and trails for dogs to enjoy. While there were a few other pups around, I have to say--Luna was definitely the cutest dog (and bunny!) at the park that day. read more

This park is large if you walk down each trail or you can do a quick loop. I walked here this morning and got in 4 miles and after lunch just 1 mile. The best part is all the green surrounding you. There was a nice breeze today and made it enjoyable even with the heat and humidity. The trails are good for dogs, stopping and sitting along the way and even picnics as well as photo opportunities. There are a few restrooms and even a place to buy water if you forgot yours. Additionally, parking is adequate, but Im sure at peak times then maybe not. So what are you waiting for, get your shoes on and head over to E Carroll Joyner Park to get some fresh air and maybe even some exercise. Don't forget, it is pet friendly as long as it's not an alligator. read more

I visited Joyner Park for the first time this weekend. This is a really nice park with plenty of parking and restrooms throughout. This is definitely more of a park than a trail even though there are a ton of walking paths and the area is massive. I didn't see any trash on the ground and landscaping is well maintained. Joyner Park is clean and overall fee This is a great place to visit on the weekends and I will definitely be back! Update: Visited again over the weekend and took a different path. A nice gem of a park in Wake Forest that has a fairly nice and spacious community center on site. The park is idyllic in a sense and the pathways undulate nicely with the terrain. The hills can be challenging at times, especially in hot weather. There is plenty of parking and they left some of the old structures that were present when it was a farm years ago. However, they recently tore down the tobacco drying barn because it became structurally unsound over the years. Overall it's a nice space. Two loops on the outermost trails will be roughly four miles. You can walk or run other trails or do a combination for shorter distances. read more

Joyner Park is a nice park to spend time in to relax or just walk or run the trails. The open green space They recently had a fall foliage tour where we learned about the trees and the plants chosen for the park and the best trees for storm water runoff and shade. The parking lot is good sized and has plenty of parking. I would not leave valuables in the vehicle as there have been some break-ins. The trails are well marked so you know how far each option is. The trails are wide so it is easy to social distance. Exercise equipment was in various spots along the trails too. There are benches along the way too if you just want to sit and take in nature. read more

Joyner Park is so lovely! We visited today, and with the gorgeous weather, the park was very busy. Parking was easy to get to and there were a decent amount of parking spots, but honestly, might not have been enough parking on a very crowded weekend. There is construction going on, an amphitheater is being built as well as a large community center. There was a decent amount of construction noise and a lot of construction workers, to be expected. We noticed many signs showing roosters, deer, horses, but we actually never saw any animals. Restrooms are very close to the parking and the building and ladies room were very clean. We'll definitely visit again. Hopefully to see the new facilities and see more nature. A few of the trees were blooming and once spring hits, the park will be gorgeous. We plan on walking more of the very large park in the future. This park is great for families - there are bench swings placed about, grills, and designated seating areas. Very dog and kid friendly. read more

The changes Wake Forest has seen over of years. This old farm turned into a wonderful community park. A Community park that keeps growing somehow. Joyner is a wonderful small town hometown feel of a park. Walking trails, small amphitheater, community center and fields for families to spent time on and children to run around on. Many Senior Pictures, Homecoming, Prom and other special event pictures taken at Joyner. Many community events happen at Joyner, it's a great family and community park. My work had a photo shoot at Joyner park and I can see why the photographer chose this location. It is really very stunning. There aren't a lot of bells and whistles to this park, but the upkeep is exceptional. The park is nicely manicured and even the bathrooms are super clean and easy to access. Doesn't seem like much when you walk through it but as you walk you notice a lot of historical things and the whole park is amazing to walk through .... The events and the things they have for kids is amazing an the playground is good also for them to get all the energy out before they go home .... The whole walk through is about 2 an half hours to get done but it's worth it tho the views are amazing to keep you focus .... read more

As I get older and find myself doing way to many reviews of food establishments, I need a place where I can burn some of the extra calories I seem to keep collecting too much of. This park is great location to burn unwanted calories. The paved trails are perfect for walking, running, roller blade, etc. There is a back drop of old farm buildings and stone stacked fencing as an added bonus along with green space. There is also outdoor exercise equipment to burn even more calories. Combining a run with some pull-ups and chest presses is great break from the monotony of putting one foot in front of another for an hour. Once your workout is done, you can relax and cool down and swing gently on one of the several swinging bench seats. There is usually a nice breeze to help with the cool down. I only wish it was bigger but it is a gem of a park overlooking downtown Wake Forest. read more

So much to love about this park! It was my first time visiting this park in Wake Forest with my family and we all enjoyed it. There were great trails, it is family friendly and lots of beautiful scenary. A smooth pavement meant that kids were riding bikes, scooters and skateboards safely. There were runners, walkers and Moms pushing strollers and Dads walking dogs. Lots of grassy areas to toss a football or even enjoy a picnic. Plenty of photo ops for bird watchers, nature lovers and even historians who would enjoy seeing old chicken coops and tabacco houses. We enjoyed the swings and just being outdoors with each other and getting some exercise on this unusually warm New Year's Day. There is free parking and public restrooms, which were well kept and clean. read more

We've lived in Wake Forest for almost 2 years now and I just finally got a chance to check out Joyner park. I took our 7 month old to see the new community center and playground which is gorgeous! It's upper exciting that they have so many classes and activities happening all the time. We went on a Sunday during what I think was a Vegan Festival. It was SO crowded and the new community center parking area is very small. Decided to walk the garden loop because the playground was full of older kids and no swings were available. I am pretty disappointed that the playground doesn't have an area for smaller kids. Its really only good for kids over 5 yrs old. The park is still very beautiful and we can't wait to enjoy it more as our daughter gets older. read more

Love love love this park! Living in Wake Forest, we are lucky because we do have many walking trails and areas for strolling with the pups but once Joyner park was established, we took full advantage. Our dogs are in love with Joyner. The trails go all around the park in parts where you can see the kids play, people having picnics, and then you can take a trail that takes you into the wooded area where it is more isolated. This is great for pups that are STILL learning to behave themselves without getting too excited everytime they see anything else walking. Apparently, they think all the visitors are there to place with them and only them. Joyner park also has a mini outdoor theater area where the Six Sundays in Spring take place. For six Sundays in Spring, there are free spring outdoor concerts from various bands- jazz, bluegrass, zydeco, and more. If you want to take some cool photos of the fam, or pups, this is a great place! There are a couple of old barns that look really cool in the rolling hills of Joyner. Visit, if you can!!! Good times! I love this place. It's definitely my go to place for running. There are different trails you can run and the scenery is fabulous. It makes for great areas to sit and do bible study on your own or even in a group. There's a few places you could bring charcoal and grill out. Great park for walking, jogging or biking. Located just off capital in wake forest. 3 miles of trails, some parts shaded. They have an amphitheater for concerts in spring and a garden area as well as old buildings like a tobacco shed, old barn and mule shed. Free parking, a few grills and benches and a few covered areas to sit in. Dog and kid friendly and they have plans to add additional features like softball field and playground. This is a beautiful park in Wake Forest with nice trails, open fields and swinging benches. We went on a Sunday evening and there was live music and many families came to sit in the grass with picnics to enjoy the weather and music. I read it was the Six Sundays in Spring event and looks like we made the last one on May 31st. There were also a few food trucks at this event and it was really a perfect evening outdoors. The trails were very nice and we did a nice walk as a family. We also saw a few people with bicycles so it is perfect for bikers and kids. read more

This is a great place to get outside and enjoy the fresh air. It's large enough to have a walking trail that's a two mile loop, and it boasts many quality attractions such as: a pond, open fields of tall grass which you may frolic through, quaint bridges, heavily wooded areas, lightly wooded areas, regular benches, benches that are actually swings, a bench that CLEARLY must be a make-out bench (because why else would they put it by itself at the end of a dead end trail surrounded by trees?), signposts bearing mysterious hieroglyphics of farm animals to direct you along the trails, a cluster of equally mysterious log-cabiny farm buildings, ACTUAL BATHROOMS, an open-air amphitheater in case you want to put on an impromptu play, and an English-inspired flower garden. Seriously, there is a lot going on here with this park, but I love it. The grounds are very well-kept, and the walking trails are wide and paved with asphalt, so it's a great place to go if you have a baby in a stroller, or kids who are just learning to ride bikes or roller blades or whatever. The downside is that it can get crowded, which can be a problem if you want some solitude. I guess on the flip side, that can actually be a good thing, because it feels safe. It all depends on what you're after. read more

A beautiful, clean park with lots of trails AND it's not even 5 minutes from my house? How fantastic! I really like Joyner Park. Just yesterday I was there walking the dog and a young deer went bounding through the fields right near us - very picturesque! There is a nice bathroom facility, amphitheater, "old" log cabins, and doggie poop bag poles (which I appreciate since I can never remember to bring my bags with me), plenty of shade, and lots of benches for sitting and enjoying nature. My one comment would be to have more trash cans around the trails...yesterday I spent a good mile carrying around a poopie bag until I came across a trash can that was along the path I was traveling. Otherwise, this is the perfect place for family picnics, walking the dog, taking a run, or just sitting and enjoying the scenery. read more
