Absolutely beautiful park! The weather was perfect for walking and enjoying the views, too. Nice paved drive in and ample parking in gravel lot. Restrooms at the entrance and a covered picnic area not far behind. There's signage along the path giving you info and a water fountain as well. Loop is well maintained and very pleasant to walk along. Really lovely piece of land and so many good photo ops! We plan on returning for prom pictures as well as just to get some exercise and enjoy the views. Highly recommend this as a free family activity.

You know what, I don't want to tell you about this place. Why would I want to share my favorite outdoor refuge in the area? After all, this is the place I go with my dogs several times a week, a place I go to meditate in complete solitude, and a place that has eighty-eight essentially untouched acres of woods and fields surrounded by the Neuse river. I wouldn't want to ruin such a place by inviting an untold amount of people here, would I? I would. It's too good to keep a secret, and believe me, it's pretty unknown. This place is amazing, guys. While many people might see it, or park next to it, they usually jump on the Greenway that connects to it, rather than enjoying the park itself. Their loss. Swing by early morning sometime and take a little walk on the unpaved trail that loops around the whole area. You'll love it and continue coming back for years.

Nice wide open field and connector to the Neuse River trail. Picturesque bridge over the Neuse river and decent nature trail too. Never too crowded, pretty peaceful actually. Thumbs up!

The Waterfall Trail was more of a true trail, winding through the woods. The Lake Trail primarily looped around the lake. It would have been nice to have distance markers on the sign. This was the perfect spot. I'm sure we probably weren't supposed to let him in the pond but it was his last day with us so we let him splash around the edge. The trails were still viable even given all the leaves had fallen. It was a really peaceful walk and we made great memories. There weren't people there at the time we went which I was thankful given our circumstances. Unfortunately it hadn't rained enough lately to produce the waterfall in the waterfall trail but we did get to see a little one on a different trail. If you walk the waterfall trail and get to the top, there's an intersection where you'll see lots of people carved their names in a tree. Stop by and look up, if you see JAX, that's in honor of my boy. Enjoy your fur babies, your children, and your own life, stop and smell the flowers. Take a walk on a sunny day and feel the sunshine in your face. We're only here for a short while.

Great place to cool off during those summer months! There were a handful of older kids who weren't paying attention. One tumbled into my toddler on accident. They had a first aid station on site but the girl was young and didn't seem to have a clue. My toddler had a busted lip and the girl said "we can wrap it". SMH. I just took some gauze and comforted my kid.

There are also shaded turf areas with seating, which is a nice touch for parents who want to stay out of the sun while keeping an eye on the kids. A few things kept it from being a 5-star visit. The parking lot is very small, there is only one restroom for the splash pad area, and I wish there was a small gate or fence around it since it's so open. I also expected it to be a little larger than it is. Overall, it's a clean, enjoyable, and free place to cool off on a hot day. I'd definitely come back.

No alcohol) they have a food truck on site, as well as a "dirty soda" stand. Flavored sodas with cream (very popular in Utah but slowly making their way to the east coast) as well as a first aid bungalow. Everyone gets a life vest but kids under 18 MUST wear theirs at all times! I like that rule! Keeps the kids safe. Of course the teens working there are certified lifeguards just in case! They also offer scuba classes/lessons at the quarry. Would I come back? YES! Maybe one day I would try the courses and swim or paddle board but the go around it was nice relaxing and letting the kids live carefree in the lake!
