He is caring, knowledgeable and works with me every way he can. Office staff have always been friendly. The only issue I have with this office is their policy of cancelling your app't. if you miss their day before call to confirm by noon. I recently was in another appointment when they called and they cancelled. Lucky for me they had not filled my app't. Overall I am very pleased with Wilkes Dental.

Dr Schit is the one to watch for if he's still being able to practice because he is very rough and rushing through as if he gets paid by the number of patients he sees. I severely have PTSD because of him and now I can't find a dentist at all. I shouldn't be made to suffer because of one lousy dentist not treating people like they should be treated. I wish I could stick that big ass needle in his gums and act like it's a joystick on a video game!!! Mind you there was no numbing prior to him doing this so I screamed out in pain and ask him if he was crazy or what...God Help Us if this is what we have to endure because we have Medicaid

Army dentists treated me when I was a kid, and I can still remember being held down while he drilled. Navy dentists decided to extract all four wisdom teeth 8 hrs before a deployment (miserable plane and ship ride). Of the minor proceedures was a cavity repair where the wrong side of my mouth was givin anesthesia, and the work continued while I complained. Of the civilian dentists that I have seen, they have been in a great hurry, only interested in payment, and not the most gentle. These past experiences has left me mortified at the thought of seeing a dentist. I have said all of the above to say this: Dr. Shinaman and his staff have given me a renewed trust in seeing a dentist. Because of shotty work done by other dentists, I had a tooth that needed extracting. I went to Dr Shinaman, and was immediately put at ease. I cannot tell you how many appointments I made, and cancelled the day before out of fear. On the day of the extraction, Dr Shinaman explained everything that he was going to do, and made me aware of everything he was doing ( even explaining the tools that he was using) throughout the proceedure. He made sure that the anesthetic was working fully, and made sure there was no pain throughout. He was in no rush, and made sure that the extraction was done completely. As much as I hate to admit it, this was actually a plesant experience. I am in my second day after the proceedure, and I have had no pain, no soreness, and feel so much better. Dr Shinaman is a great guy, and a top notch practitioner! His staff is equally professional and careing. I will recomend that anyone that has issues with their teeth contact his office.

The people at Southern Dental Associates are so kind and caring. My son is a patient on the…read morepediatric side and has been for about 6 years now. He is autistic but verbal. They explain everything to him in such detail before they start and then again during the process that it makes him more comfortable. He is sensitive to lights and sounds and they make sure that he has his glasses (sunglasses) on before they start. They let him touch and feel each instrument before even trying to place it near his mouth. I am so thankful for the amazing staff!!
