They changed my watch battery for a small fee and had it done in an hour! Great service and very covid-friendly!

Recently my Accutron Spaceview watch manufactured in 1964 began running slow. We took it to a…read moretrusted local watchmaker who said he could clean and lubricate it but if it needed replacement parts he wan't sure he could obtain them. Because of that he would not be able to offer us a guarantee. We mentioned this to our grandson who surfed the net and located a website for Robert Piker. We called Bob and describe the problem to him and he said he could easily take care of it. He's very easy to talk to and told us that he got into the repair of Accutron watches because he had a similar problem. He taught himself how to repair Accutron vintage watches, and to Bob it became is a labor of love. He said that he searches the web daily to source replacement parts so he always has a supply available. We sent our Accutron watch to him and he called us back to tell us he could repair the watch and that he would test it for several days after it was repaired to make sure it was running precisely as the day it was manufactured. If you send the watch to Bob, he will evaluate the problem and call you to tell you what has to be done and how much it will cost. From our experience, his repair prices are extremely reasonable. Every time we spoke to Bob we were confident we made the right choice. In fact, he told us that not only do watch repair people sent him their Accutrons, but the Bulova company itself send him the vintage Accutrons to be repaired. This was very reassuring to us since he is one of the few people in the country who repair such watches. Let us tell you if you have an Accutron Spaceview or Astronaut watch that has to be repaired don't think twice, contact Bob Piker at 309-287-2627 or bob @mybob.net. You'll be as thankful as we were that you did.

I finally just got it to a better repair person and they tell me that there are now parts missing from my Acutron space view. The missing cover caused severe damage when Bob tried to run the watch.

I've had nothing but great experiences from Jerry/Watkins. Prices are good and I've found the staff to be friendly. Good people, solid work & fair prices have been my experiences.

I was told it would be finished in a week. I followed up multiple times asking for the status and was always told they were waiting on the part and it would be ready in the next week. After several months of waiting for them to fix the chain, I finally called and told them I wanted to come in to the shop and pick up the clock. When I arrived at the shop, they acted as if they had no recollection of the phone conversation. They couldn't find the clock and when they finally found it, it was missing the bird and hands. They found the bird but not the hands. They seemed very carefree about it and offered no apology. Unbeknownst to me because of lack of knowledge at the time, the bellows were missing and they gave me the wrong movement for an 8 day clock when my clock contained a 1 day movement. Essentially they disassembled my clock and returned it with incorrect and incomplete parts. I didn't realize this at the time so I didn't question the parts they gave me. Later after watching repair videos, I had to order new parts to replace all the parts they didn't return to me. It's outrageous that a business this unorganized and unprofessional is still operating. Do not use this shop.

I wanted to bring attention to their lesser-known wonderful watch services, since I've only seen…read morereviews on the jewelry at Robert's (which look incredible! Maybe one day...). I've been here twice, and both times service was quick, friendly, and satisfying. Robert (I assume?) explained everything he did clearly, and I really appreciate when people take the time to let you know what's going on. There was also another jewelry artist there who was also all-around awesome. I swear I'd hang there all day if that wasn't weird. I've only needed small repairs so far (reattaching a crystal, replacing a wrist strap), but this would be my first stop if I needed any watch repair, simple or complex, quartz or mechanical. And the prices are very fair, so don't let the jewelry scare you off. AND I learned that Robert does pocket watch repair too! It's a vanishing craft, and we are really lucky to have a specialist right in town. A few years ago I had been searching for someone to service my pocket watches (regular cleaning), and had no idea Robert's was even an option--I wish I did. The location I went to specialized in clock repair, but even they had to outsource the work. I may have briefly come across Robert's online, but probably assumed it was the "battery-change specialist" kind of jewelry shop. I'm kicking myself for past-me being a doofus. Champaign truly has a gem (ha ha) in Robert's!

They didn't even put any pressure on me to commit once they gave me their estimate. They do a quality job, caught a lot of weak areas in my ring, and it still ended up being cheaper than the estimate and they gave me! They offered me practical tips and suggestions that'll help with wear and longevity! I'll return 100%! I'd give them them my business any day compared to a chain jewelry store!

He takes breaks every 5 minutes and is often gone for 20+ minutes leaving customers waiting and most often they just leave out of frustration. Though I decided to give it one more chance yesterday when they charged me $20 to take off one link (a service that took only 3 minutes)! This service had always been free before but apparently is not now. When I got the money out I said that it had always been free before and the new manager acted like I was an idiot telling me they have always charged for that service. Then he tells we it's actually going to be 22.87 but when I questioned again he told me it would just be $20 after all. He then asked me if I wanted a receipt and I said yes. He then said if you want a receipt you'll have to pay $22.87. So I said I guess I don't need one then. He then left the money out and didn't put it in the cash register because I'm pretty sure he is pocketing it for himself as he knows the service should've been free and he wanted an extra large tip. Needless to say this manager ought to be fired! But if not it won't matter to me as they have permanently my business! A place that I have spent hundreds and hundreds of dollars at before. I will never make that mistake again!
