We scheduled our appointment via their website and had a quick home consultation where we told him what we would ideally like done. I did a bit of quick math on the mulch and sent me a text shortly after with the rate for the labor and the materials. I found it to be incredibly reasonable so we decided to move forward with the job. They are booked pretty heavily so it took a couple of weeks for our appointment but they showed up and worked efficiently to finish the job neatly and thoroughly. Our garden looks amazing and they did a great job pulling all those pesky weeds in our rock beds that had been causing me grief (and back pain!) over the spring and summer. I'm so happy with how it all looks. I can't stop marveling at our very cute yard now! And my plants seem way happier now that we've got the mulch around them as well. Will definitely keep them in mind for any future jobs we may need.

Trisha was always prompt responding to questions I had and clarified everything for us. The crew was outstanding as well. They worked very hard, and spent three days digging out the old plants, adding soil, and planting and mulching all of the beautiful new plants. The flower beds still contain a large amount of clay and rock, and it is difficult to dig without immediately hitting hard material. Many of the plants did not survive. The company returned and replaced plants and added soil around them, but we felt the underlying soil preparation should have been addressed before the original installation. In our opinion, the beds should have been prepared more thoroughly from the beginning. Most of the attention during the project appeared to be focused on the brick paver patio. The landscaping work seemed to be performed primarily by less experienced workers, and the owner did not visit the site during installation to review the work. We also paid for a landscape design plan, but many of the original plant selections were later changed when plants were replaced. Because of this, we felt the value of the design service was limited. The company believes watering was the issue. We had a sprinkler system in operation and believe soil preparation was a significant factor. The clay soil conditions were discussed before the project began and the property was inspected before work started. Overall, we were disappointed with the quality of the landscaping work and the value received for the price paid.

While the main house of The Weed Lady is technically a gift shop, it couldn't be further from the cheap, overpriced connotations mentioned above. They set the atmosphere in the entryway, with an assortment of tea, coffee, and cookies to enjoy while you browse (edit: this may only be present during Christmas shopping season. Still, a nice touch!). It's obvious that every item in this shop has been deliberately chosen by the owner, and each one uniquely captures the natural environment. Cedar and sage scented candles, stone vases, tempered votives, long-stemmed glassware, handmade soaps... you could spend hours looking at all of the ornaments and decorations on display. Gorgeous, inviting, warm.. it doesn't even begin to describe the atmosphere that they have created in the 3 main rooms of the house. The Weed Lady is also a florist, with quite a large greenhouse in the back. Will definitely have to do more exploring here during the summer. The prices are a bit high, but also fair when considering you're paying for unique, quality products and excellent, knowledgeable service.
