We had problems with the wooden gate since the beginning. It has since fallen apart. I spoke to him several weeks ago, and he promised to show up and repair the fence last Saturday. It is now a week later, and he has not called or emailed me. We were going to have Brian build a privacy fence for us this Spring. He only knew how to install stockade fencing,, or a variation of that. We have taken bids from several contractors who will build an attractive fence for us for 1000 dollars less. Beware of this company. They are amateurs. Buyer beware! Note: After I published this honest, albeit negative review, the owner of this company, Brian Maynard, has threatened me. I should add, that there has never been any "civil litigation." However, Brian Maynard has attempted to slander me online. He has persisted in name-calling, and other types of intimidation. I reported Maynard to the Sheriff's department, who phoned Mr. Maynard on my behalf. If he does not cease in this behavior, I will sue him for slander. It should also be noted that the gate that Maynard "built" has fallen apart. The fence, itself, is an eyesore.

He walked the driveway twice with me with hid proposal and I was assured of all removal and replacement. He explained the area of work, tonnage of the coverage and possible additional costs if we requested more work. We did make changes along the way though he was there to direct the hard working crew to make adjustments. Equipment was well maintained and performed well. All work was completed and then cleaned up over a period of 2 days. We are delighted with our new driveway.

Sommerset Paving was in our neighborhood for several days replacing several driveways. Their heavy vehicles left large ruts in our grass and two holes where the front wheels were turned. They never asked if they could park on our grass and they didn't respond when I sent them a blistering email. Then 4 weeks later, a roofing contractor delivery truck damaged our new driveway when they used hydraulic jacks to stabilize their truck. Sommerset came out to "repair" the damages and now our new $2,000 driveway looks worse than before their "repairs!" I wish they'd just left it alone.

We recently hired Eric Kowalski and his company, Earth Concepts LLC, to replace a seawall, replace…read moreand enlarge walkways and patios, and create terraced planting beds on our property. The job was begun with great energy and the actual hardscape is acceptable. We did, however, experience several problems which appeared to be the result of Eric leaving the state, with multiple week long absences while work was underway leaving inadequate supervision. At one point our job was interrupted so that Eric and his crew could do another nearby job despite Eric's initial assurances that he would have his crew dedicated to our job from start to finish. There was improper attention paid to landscape grading, which resulted in the height of some of the concrete being raised in order to properly cover the base layer of stones under our limestone slabs. This change, in turn, negatively affected the transition to two separate sets of stone stairs which had been previously laid. Lack of attention to proper grading also played a factor in severe drainage issues which became evident after job completion. Multiple passages with heavy machinery carrying heavy loads over inadequately protected ground created a shallow bowl shape which was not corrected prior to laying new sod. Water was unable to drain from the heavily compacted soil and pooled in the "bowl". To make things worse, our gutter and downspout drainage system was not adequately protected from heavy machinery being driven over; nor were all the damaged drainage pipes replaced and connected. This, combined with the bowl shape that was created by the heavy machinery, resulted in a serious drainage problem. The drainage was so poor that the grass in the affected area could no longer be cut due to how boggy the soil became, and even our neighbor had difficulty cutting their grass near the property line due to excessive water accumulation. Prior to commencement of the job our drainage system was independently evaluated and found to be in good working order. The existing condition and location of our underground drainage pipes was discussed with Eric prior to beginning our project. After project completion Eric was advised of drainage issues and sent out a crew who only partially corrected the problem. I contacted Eric again advising him that we still had a significant drainage issue and he responded that he would stop by to take a look. We currently live in the same neighborhood making that a fairly easy task. Two weeks passed without any contact from him. My husband and I wound up hiring another company to fix the numerous problems Eric and his crew left us with, having arrived at the conclusion that they were unable and/or unwilling to fix the problems. We spent $4000 to fix their unfinished work. As if all this wasn't enough, upon learning that we had hired another company to fix these multiple issues Eric responded by informing me that "Now that another company has modified our work all warranties are void".

The crew worked very hard in very cold weather and even some light rain, from morning until dusk. They were very good at what they did and even corrected thing they found not working correctly. The job took far less time than we anticipated and the crew cleaned up well, especially with all the heavy equipment they used. The cost was very competitive and worth the value. Peltz put my sod in 9 years ago when they put it in they put down dust not soil so the grass had…read moretrouble growing every since it's a battle to keep it from dying it looks horrible all the time this was a new black neighborhood and they did most of the lawns all of our lawns look terrible except for the lady who put down her own sod never use Peltz they know that putting down dust instead of soil will kill your lawn in the long run.

Their prices are competitive and their work crews have always been highly professional, friendly and willing to do the extras. We paid a lot of money for an awful landscape job. They did not prepare the ground with adequate…read moreamounts of dirt we paid for. You can't even put a shovel in the flower beds before you hit rocks and clay. Many of the plants have died. They came back and dug up all the plants and put fresh dirt in the small holes they dug around the plants. However, trying to fix this after the fact, when the grounds weren't prepared right in the first place, did not work. All the plants should have been removed and the ground prepared correctly. The owner told me the person from her company that did our job was no longer with them. I was shocked when I heard this since our job was VERY expensive and I thought she would adequately manage it. The fact that her foreman was no longer with them did not help us after the fact. It would have helped if during our job she would have come by to check on what her foreman was doing. In addition, the initial design document she created, (and charges a lot for) had shade plants under a tree that would not be big enough to supply shade for 20 years. Her son even commented when they came back to dig everything up, "that tree won't supply shade for 20 years", as he pulled out all the dead ferns and shade plants under it. They pulled out so many dead plants and replaced them the different plants that design document was no longer valid. We should have been refunded for her bad design. The owner knew coming in that our soil was clay and we were near wetlands but promised that she could make it "beautiful". They even dug up the big pine trees they previously planted to add adequate soil under them (something that should have been done in the first place). Some of the pine trees are now dying. We spent so much money for our landscaping and it looks horrible and many of the plants look horrible or are dead this spring. They even had to dig up sod in the front and put soil under it because it was so uneven. Worse of all, we have water coming into our basement and found out it is because Karleen's crew DID NOT FOLLOW CODE WHEN THEY INSTALLED THE PATIO. Brighton Township code says that the patio should be 5" under the door. As you can see from this photo, it is flush with the door. You do not have to pull a permit on a brick paver patio because it is not considered a permanent structure but LD&A SHOULD KNOW WHAT CODE IS! When it rains heavily we get water in the basement. Basically, the whole patio will need to be torn out and brought up to code. Also, they put a rock (pictured here) to close to the house and it is funneling water directly down on the side of the house. It should be funneling the water AWAY from the house. BAD DESIGN. Wanted to warn others!!! This company charges top dollar but the results are awful and they do not monitor their jobs properly. They ALSO DO NOT FOLLOW CODE!
