I booked an 8:00 AM lesson before my 10:00 AM road test. The instructor picked me up in a dirty car, BLASTING music, and made absolutely no effort to be professional. Instead of giving me the 45-minute lesson I paid for, he randomly dropped me off at some sketchy corner store at 8:45 AM and left me there alone for over an hour. No warning. No communication. I was just stranded until he decided to come back. When he returned, there was already a random person in the car, and they were talking over me the whole time while I sat there anxious about my road test. The instructor never once offered helpful feedback--he only pointed out everything I was doing wrong in a loud and aggressive tone. No encouragement, no reassurance, just complete discouragement before a major test. After my road test, which ended around 10:30 AM, I asked to be taken to the nearby train station. Instead, I was told I had to wait for ANOTHER STUDENT'S 11:00 AM test to be completed--something that had NOTHING to do with me. I was refused a ride because they didn't feel like making an extra trip, even though the station was 10 minutes away. Then it gets worse. A DIFFERENT instructor shows up in a second car that was absolutely TRASHED--garbage everywhere, completely unsanitary. And he had another client already in the car. On the way to the train station, this new instructor completely forgot about me and said he was just going to drop me at "Sutter." Then, right in the middle of the street, HE LET THE OTHER CLIENT GET INTO THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND START DRIVING--WHILE I WAS STILL IN THE BACKSEAT. How is that even legal? I was so uncomfortable and over it, I ended up paying out of pocket for an Uber just to get home safely. When I called the manager to explain everything, her response wasn't apologetic--she was DEFENSIVE, RUDE, and straight up THREATENING. Her exact words to me were: "If you do something stupid, I would see you in court." A manager threatening a customer who had a terrible, unsafe experience? That says everything you need to know about this business. This company does not care about safety, professionalism, or customer service. They only care about your money. Once they have it, they'll treat you like garbage. Untrained instructors, dirty cars, unsafe behavior, complete disrespect, and a disgusting manager who thinks threats are an appropriate response to a legitimate complaint. Save yourself the stress, money, and danger. I will be filing a dispute with my bank, reporting this business, and doing everything I can to make sure others don't go through what I did.

For the second lesson - no one showed up! Then when I showed up less than three days later to get my $50 refund, the owner said if I don't generate a receipt I can't get my refund. But, I enjoyed my 20 lessons and I learned a lot also. I also appreciate the fact that he drove to me instead of me going to him; not all driving schools offer pick-up. I paid the full amount on the first day using a card, you can't pay in increments. I started taking lessons in July, which was the soonest I had ever been offered a lesson, doing 1-2 lessons per week. I knew there was a rush for driving schools because a lot of the driving schools I had called before Evolution was full from July-October, so I had no problem doing a few lessons per week. When it was time to schedule my test, Mr. Merldon gave me the time and date. I simply told him this would not work for me since I had to go out of the country. We had to reschedule a few times because my vacation took longer than expected. But, when my road test was scheduled, we also had a lesson scheduled before then, to help get rid of my nerves! After my successful test, Mr. Merldon drove me back and that was it! **I should note that Mr. Merldon does have the radio playing on low. If you find music at any volume, to be distracting while you're driving, then you can ask him to turn it off. I, personally, had no issue with this and found the music therapeutic during our lessons. ***ADVICE: When you are taking your road test, be mindful and vigilant! Always yield to oncoming cars when you're parallel parking and make sure you're looking around in all directions when doing a U-turn. The road test is short, so relax and drive safely!
