The people who work in the office are very nice and competent regarding scheduling and the DMV. I…read morerequested a driver and car for my road test. I was told to arrive to their office an hour before my test at Starrett. However, the driver didn't arrive to their office until 20 minutes before the test, and then he had to get breakfast, which wasted more time. I was instructed to drive a block away from the test, and was told, "hurry up" to get there in time. We arrived to the test with a couple minutes to spare, and needless to say, I was not in a calm mood. Image tells you, on the parallel park, to put your right hand behind the front passenger headrest as you reverse. DRIVING WITH ONE HAND on the road test is an automatic fail for many examiners. Following Image's instructions, I failed at Starrett and Seaview. The examiners literally hit the passenger side brake of the driving school car as I was backing up to attempt my parallel. I was done before I barely began thanks to Image's instructions. I took my third road test on Staten Island, and used a Staten Island driving school for my car and driver. I was told to keep both hands on the wheel at all times during the test. I nailed my parallel park and passed. My test literally was less than five minutes, close to four. My advice to anyone scheduling a road test in Brooklyn: Avoid Starrett, Coney Island, and Red Hook. Seaview is arguably the easiest test site in NYC. Just know there are wide streets and your three point turn cannot become a near U-turn.

My journey with driving started over 10 years ago. It was 2015 when I decided to get my Learner…read morePermit for the very first time. After signing up with a local school and scheduling multiple driving lessons, I ended up failing the road test miserably. I was so disappointed that I ended up taking a break from driving. That break lasted 10 years. Fast forward to 2025 and I felt like I owed it to myself to give driving another try. Again, I signed up with a local school and paid for a package to take multiple lessons, but as before, I failed the road test for the second time. This is when I knew I had to make a change. I met Raymond during a 5-hour class where he was the instructor. I remember him telling us that if we needed any additional help that we could reach out for some guidance. I took his advice and did just that. This is when Mentorship Driving School changed my life. Raymond was a very thorough instructor who taught me how to not just drive to drive, but to THINK driving. He seemed to genuinely care about whether or not I succeeded. He preached the idea that you must be intentional and tactical about your every move on the road. His methods are just what any potential driver needs! He was also a fan of repetition which then led to enhancing my skills. Be ready! After only four lessons, I was ready for the road test. I'm not sure what it is, but when you know, you know. I just felt confident in my abilities. When you get to this point, driving doesn't feel like a chore, it feels like a natural task that's been integrated within your skill set. Even though I finally passed my road test, I feel like I've earned more than a Driver's License. I've earned respect for the art and science of driving and the rules that come with that world. If you ever find yourself in a rut like I did when it comes to driving, you need to find yourself at the Mentorship Driving School. It changed my life, and with enough practice, commitment, and guidance, it will change yours, too. Raymond is your guy! Thank you, Raymond! We finally did it!
