Back in October of 2012, the breeder of my first Old English Sheepdog, called to tell me there was a young OES available in Ohio. We made the journey from Buffalo NY to Columbiana Ohio to pick the dog up. He was the saddest, he was filthy, underfed and smelled just awful. We were heartbroken at his condition. The very next day we took Dashwood to the groomers and made him feel welcome to his new home. I always found it odd that no one had claimed him while he was at the pound. Because he was such a good boy. Of course, we had a few hiccups, and he needed to learn manners. He had Harry to play with, a large, fenced backyard, good food and lots of walks. He was a very happy boy. He had one disgusting habit I could not break; he ate poop. I recently learned that that habit is a sign of a dog from a puppy mill. After I read that I knew where he came from-Eagle Cross Kennels. It made perfect sense, location, his appearance, unneutered, untrained, etc. Why is this kennel still breeding dogs after all of the terrible stories regarding the filthy conditions of the kennel and the atrocious condition of the dogs, no access to the parents, it is wrong, wrong, wrong. Please tell everyone not to purchase a dog from these greedy, disreputable people. Animals are suffering. Dash was picked up by the Pound at a busy intersection looking as though he was looking for someone. Dash was 13 years and three months when I had to let him go two weeks ago. In December, my boyfriend drove to Youngstown from Columbus to pick up our Doodle, Tesla. He had little to report in the way of negativity, but did acknowledge that the breeder seemed high volume. There is a huge difference between a puppy mill and a high volume breeder. Tesla is a well adjusted, healthy pup. He was almost four months when we brought him home which most people know can be problematic since puppies that old who are still at the breeder often aren't properly socialized. However we take Tesla EVERYWHERE and he is amazing with dogs, people, and children alike. He loves meeting dogs of all ages and size, is happy to greet any person he meets, and is gentle and not aggressive with children. Socialization in the first few months of a puppy's life is so important, and if nothing else, Eagle Cross did an amazing job of making sure Tesla was well socialized and in a healthy environment for those first few months. If you want to get a pup from a place where the dogs are kept in little wicker baskets indoors with four other pups who are groomed and trained, look elsewhere. My daughter visited this kennel and was shocked to find the available puppy thin and filthy. Despite my protest, she felt she was "rescuing" the puppy by purchasing it from the "puppy mill". The puppy went immediately to our vet and we learned the sick puppy was infected with GIARDIA and ROUND WORMS. It is worth mentioning, the owner is very secretive and will not allow people to see The parents or other dogs, or the conditions they live in. Months later we found the puppy had a genetic vascular disorder necessitating much veterinary attention. (have also talked with other dog owners whose dogs having similar genetic disorders) When my daughter called the breeder to inquire about the "One year health guarantee" he told her that "if she put the puppy down" (voluntarily kill her puppy) he would replace it with another puppy. Clearly, the breeder knows a young girl is not going to destroy her cherished puppy because of vet bills. This appears to be his transparent, greedy and cruel method to avoid honoring the "health guarantee". Despicable. I don't know much about puppy mills, but this appears to be a bad one. It all about profit ...not puppies or the people who buy them. I would look elsewhere to a smaller and more reputable breeder. I've also seen a lot of bad reviews on this guy. He obviously works hard on having bad reviews removed from the Internet and out of your sight. read more

I bought my puppy in December of 2014. He was 5 months old when I purchased him. I heavily researched breeders online before purchasing and on Eagle Cross Kennel's website, they look great. However, that is far from the reality. When we arrived the kennel was extremely dirty and had a horrible smell of urine and feces. The puppies were confined to small quarters that were full of wet newspaper and feces. Greg brought out 2 puppies for us to see and they acted like they had never has human interaction before. We chose the older one that appeared to be in worse condition. We asked if we could see the parents but Greg told us we put the adult dogs at risk of getting sick so we could not meet them but we could see them online. The mother was not on the website. Greg told us over the phone that the puppies we were looking at were going to be $1000, but once we were paying him he quickly changed his mind and told us our puppy was $1200 because he "has a nice coat". Because our puppy was extremely dirty, matted, and covered in urine and feces, we called groomers on the way home and luckily were able to get him in that afternoon. The groomer bathed him 3 times attempting to rid the horrible smell and had to shave him due to the condition of his coat. The groomer explained they do not like to shave dogs that young but she simply had no choice because his mats were so severe. The following day we took our puppy to the vet. He was diagnosed with round worms and Giardia despite Greg telling us the puppy was treated for worms one week prior. We also found out the puppy was missing many required vaccines for his age and the ones he did receive did not have the appropriate boosters given so our vet recommended essentially redoing all his vaccines. We contacted Greg about the health issues the day we got the results but never received a response. Our dog is now 1 year old and the results of testing all point to a genetic liver disease (not yet confirmed). We contacted Greg to see if we could get our $1200 refunded to cover the prescriptions that he will need the rest of his life. Instead, Greg told me to "put the dog down" and he would replace him with a puppy of up to $2000 value. I told Greg I was not interested in replacing my dog but he continually repeated I needed to put the dog to sleep because he was only going to get more genetic problems. I would STRONGLY recommend not supporting this business. The puppies are not properly socialized or cared for. Greg is much more interested in financial gain rather than the well being of his animals. If you want an ethical breeder, I would suggest you look elsewhere. read more

Teddy is by far the finest, most intelligent, intuitive, and easily trained dog we have ever owned. We can only assume that was from careful breeding. Got my F1b a year ago. Ordered her over internet. Felt risky but sent cashiers check. Two weeks later I picked up the puppy from the airport. She was fine. The vet did all the normal tests. No worms, no ear mites, hips looked fine. Now a year later we love our puppy, Copper, BUT we were expecting a full size dog, around 60 pounds. She stopped growing at 35 pounds. Vet thinks she was from a miniature. Poodle father, not the standard size I wanted. She's a bit yippy, but very healthy. read more

If I could give this eaglecross kennel a no star I would! I drove really far to get a puppy which was stated to be 12 weeks old but upon arrival the dogs I was preseted with were about 6 to 9 months old. The poor dogs were not taken care of. About 30 dogs were stuck together in 10 cages. The place stunk of poop and pee. The dogs had poop on their bottoms and on their feet. Their poor fur was matted. These people do not even let the dogs outside everyday. Do not give your money to these people they do not deserve it. They only deserve to be put in a dark stinky tightly cramped cage like they treat their poor dogs! read more

I bought 2 dogs from this kennel over a period of 2 years both of them from the same parents. I never visited the kennel but purchased here after my sister got her dog there. The dogs were flown to me which was a little scary to do to a dog. The dogs arrived clean, and healthy with their appropriate paperwork in hand. They each slept on their way home and very quickly became members of the family. Looking back, I would have never made the purchases had I did my research properly on the kennel and I am embarrassed to say where my dogs came from whenever someone asks. Regardless, my oldest, a boy, is a wonderful,beautiful and intelligent dog who is a little high strung. His sister is a much better adjusted, again very very smart and so loving. I would not trade my dogs for anything but at the same time would probably not purchase here again. The breeder made no inquiries as to where the dogs were going, what kind of home, etc, have not ever called to check to see how they were doing, just seem to have forgotten about them. I was an uneducated consumer but got lucky with both of my pets. Maybe they are different now and I have heard things are better there, but caveat emptor. read more

My husband and I purchased a male labradoodles 5 month ago. He has turned into the best puppy. Any kennel has some differences between their pictures on the website and being there in person. Depending on time of day and day you come. I will admit it was not perfect, but is your home perfect? We are planning on a second puppy soon! We have a golden doodle dog. She is almost 8 years old. We were not allowed to see the parents when we purchased her. At three years old she had a hip replaced. At six years old the other hip was replaced. She had no injuries necessitating either surgery. The surgeries cost close to 13,ooo$ but more than that it was a very lengthy recovery. We love her very much but numerous surgeons and vets have commented that this was poor breeding. I would not purchase a dog from this kennel ever again. I had pet insurance that did not cover either surgery because it was genetic. read more

This place is not a business that takes care of their animals and they present falsified paperwork upon you paying "cash only" (which is all they will take). The puppy we bought is 4 months younger than the false paperwork stipulated and we had to pay for worms, dehydration, malnutrition and double ear infections on the day we picked him up. The place is disgusting inside the kennel where the dogs are left to lay in their pee and poop and there is no food or drink around and nothing but concrete floor for them to lay on. Their website is so deceiving as it appears to have a nice and clean facility and they claim to care about the health of their dogs. The vet bill and health report on the dog we purchased says neglect and health concerns. DO NOT consider buying from these people!!!! They SHOULD NOT have a business in making money for neglecting dogs and running a puppy mill!! read more

My wife and I had been looking around for golden doodles for weeks then we found these guys. We scheduled an appointment a week out and when the day to go see the puppies came we called them to confirm and they said they were booked. We were planning on adding a new addition to our family all week long and now to say the least we are very disappointed, especially my wife... Now the search continues definitely somewhere else. We drove 4 hours to pick up our puppy. She is laid back, mild-mannered and a good looking puppy. Just beware however, she had an ear infection, an "nick" in her nose, as well as worms. We picked up our puppy at this facility, and the staff was very attentive to all of the dogs there. Yes, it is a high-volume kennel, but if you have been to puppy mills before, this is a much higher level of quality. Our goldendoodle is a great addition to our family, and was healthy when we picked him up. Greg let us look around, and spend time with all of the puppies and did not try to hide any area of his facility. We felt he was honest and up front answering all of our questions, and he did take a check for payment, not cash. read more

While I absolutely LOVE the goldendoodle that we got from this kennel in Nov. 2013, I did not get what I had expected this past November. Prior to my 3 hour car ride, I had several conversations with the owner regarding the sex and exact coat type I was looking for. Upon my arrival, the two male dogs that he had sent me videos of and that I was expecting to choose from(just days prior) were both no longer there. I was then left to "settle" with what puppies remained. The kennel did not look like the one pictured in the website- there were a lot of puppies and they were not very clean. The 5 puppies that I interacted with had very dirty ears- (the one we brought home had a horrible yeast and bacterial infection in both ears). The 15 week old puppies were extremely unsocialized-she was afraid of EVERYTHING for a long time. The website boasts about its' skilled dog trainers, yet these puppies seemed to rarely even have any human contact- this is most likely why they suggest that you have your puppy go through their "training" prior to adoption. Our puppy was afraid to walk on every type of flooring, refused to do steps and while she has come a long way, she is still very fearful of many things that she has never seen before. It was so obvious that these puppies did not spent time away from their small kennel. We did choose an adorable and sweet puppy (we certainly couldn't go home empty-handed), but I wish that I hadn't been left to feel like I was not properly informed... and my minimal shedding puppy, sheds like crazy! I had read several similar reviews about this kennel but felt like I had developed a good line of communication with the owner. This was a mistake. If you choose to use this kennel, I suggest that you proceed cautiously. read more

I purchased a goldendoodle in april 2013. When I called about the dog I was told he was 12 weeks, when I got there I was told he was actually 16 weeks, then when I looked at the birthdate he was actually 18 weeks. The Kennel stunk extremely bad, there were so many dogs stuck in small confined areas. I ended up purchasing the dog because I am a true animal lover and could not bare to leave him there. When I got him home I had to bath him immediately because he stunk so bad. While bathing him I found that his ears where filled with black tar like substance, which is ear mites. I called Greg Fidoe and complained he told me he would send me medication to take care of it. I have yet to receive the medication. The poor dog is afraid of everything. He must have never left the kennel. He is afraid of doors, he is afraid of his food bowl. The first day I had to hand feed him. Thats another thing, he is so thin you can feel every single bone on him. He was eating his own feces. It took two days of actually eating good nutritional dog food and he has stopped doing that. I am assuming he did not get a lot to eat. I gave the kennel two stars only because, other than the condition of the dog, he is the sweetest, most laid back dog. I have three granddaughters under age 3 and he is really good with them. I have another 3 year old goldendoodle and he is really good with him also. He loves to cuddle and so far listens well. Although his he very timid and overwhelmed from his new freedom, it is hard to get his attention, I'm sure in time he will relax and be a great addition to our family. I suggest you do not purchase from this breeder, I got lucky that my dog does not have any serious health issues but I am sure most of the puppies there do. Update, it has been over a week and I still do not have the medication to take care of the dogs ear mites. I ended up buying it from the vet. I have contacted him several times, of course he says its in the mail. I've mailed things to places further from me in Ohio and it does not take more than two days to get there. read more

In April of 2016, my daughter and I got the last two puppies from a litter, two female "Goldendoodles". At the time we purchased them, they were 14 weeks old and apparently had never been outside. Now, a year later, we both still struggle with our dogs. We are thousands of dollars into damage to floors, furniture, and whatever else these dogs can get into. My dog, two months after purchasing her, needed a $3500 surgery for intususseption (telescoping of the intestine into itself), most likely caused by worms. The breeder assured us that the dogs were wormed properly, and we both had our dogs at the vet within 1 week of purchasing them. My daughter's dog is still not housebroken and cannot understand the concept of pottying outside. My dog seems to have finally figured it out, but will not potty outside if the ground is wet. I attribute this to them never having been outdoors until we took them home at 14 weeks. They are both very hyper, and even with professional training, my daughter's dog has not improved in this area. The only thing that seems to calm them both down is putting a cone on them when we need to leave them alone. They both have extreme separation anxiety, though mine has improved in this area, but probably only because we have two other dogs at home with her. They also do not look like Goldendoodles. Neither of the typical facial hair like most Goldendoodles do. As a matter of fact, their coats look nothing like a Goldendoodle. My daughter's dog looks more like a Golden Retreiver and sheds terribly, and someone commented that mine looks like a small greyhound. We're not sure what we got, but we think we'll be getting genetic testing done to find out what they really are. Our vet said that if it wasn't us who had gotten these dogs and worked with them, the dogs may have been in foster care many times. The most unfortunate part about all of this is that we had previously purchased two other Doodles from Eagle Cross in 2006 and 2007. Both are wonderful, easily trainable, healthy dogs. However, after this last experience, I know that we will NEVER recommend Eagle Cross Kennels to anyone. It seems like when they started out, they were much more concerned about healthy dogs, but now they are just in it for the money. read more
