Gardenland carries many plants that are not readily available in conventional garden centers,…read moreincluding many native plants adapted to the northern Great Plains and front range of the Rockies. Some unusually shrubs and trees as well as herbaceous plants. If you need a lot of plants of one kind for your landscape, you can get smaller sizes here (3-4" pots) and save a lot of money over quarts found at other nurseries, which basically buy from Bluebird wholesale and then grow them into quart size containers. For example, I needed a lot of ground cover Veronica and they were able to provide them at a reasonable price. Summer sales in August help also. The people are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. It is worth a drive through the rolling hills of eastern Nebraska to buy from Gardenland. Only about 2 hours from Lincoln/Omaha so makes a nice day trip.

Bushes I ordered from other nurseries looked like sticks and arrived mostly dried up. Grimm's Gardens delivers excellence every time. Update: I planted the cherry tree last year and now it is all coveres in flowers, going to feuit in a few month. Black currants already started fruiting (just planted a month ago!)

We picked up some sandwich pickles, local honey, and a massive seedless watermelon. Prices on some items were a little higher than expected, but given they're local, I didn't mind paying a bit extra--it feels good to support nearby farmers and makers. That said, there are a few things I'd probably skip. One thing to note: they add a $1 fee for card transactions, so if you want to avoid that, bring cash!
