Although a 3, it's a bit better than that. But a few obvious items prevented a 4. Easy access off the highway was the big plus. Fuel price was comparable to others in the area and like Shell gas. The exterior aesthetics are meh, but it works. No issues at the pump with it processing my payment. However, no wash and it looks like they never provide based on the container. The men's room was pretty clean with one sink out of commission. Everything worked properly other than that Although I did not purchase anything they offer a lot of merchandise for road warriors. Clean, well stocked gas station/store. Easy access from highway. Wide variety of drinks and munchies.

I am a huge fan of Truck Stops so I was excited to try The Down Home Diner at Eagle Travel Plaza. This is a small little Diner inside the Travel Plaza. I've been in twice so far and the crew consisted of a cook and waitress both of which were friendly. The Coffee is always hot and strong. Better that I'm used to around here. There are always specials and this Sunday morning was no exception. I ordered The Country Fried Steak which comes with 2 eggs and your choice of Biscuit or Toast. I added a side of hashbrowns just to round out the hearty meal. Just looking around I can see that the portions are definitely above average. I can't imagine anybody leaving hungry. I sure didn't. I really enjoyed my Breakfast this morning. I'm in the area for a while and you can bet I'll be back to The Down Home Diner at Eagle Travel Plaza. read more

This place looked like it was going to be great but it was just so so as far as taste of food goes. I was impressed but the size of the food which made me excited but just not the taste so much. MY burger was tripled cooked and very dry. I sort of question if what I was eating was 100% beef or not. They also have a weird payment method as you pay at the front gas station register and then they question you when you leave if you have already paid earlier. I will try it again next time I'm in town but would of course never make the hour trip just to eat here. read more

The food was nasty. Ordered the baked spaghetti with homemade meat sauce. There was hardly any sauce on it. Ordered chocolate cake and it was one of the frozen varieties and was very dry. The side salad was big and it was good but I didn't know that it had ham on top, if I knew I would have told our waitress to leave it off. The only good thing I can say is that our waitress was nice. The cook and waitress really made me feel welcome. The chicken salad was good and filling. The poor cashier out front was being lorded over by what appeared to be an owner. Dude! Hire people you believe in, train them well and be open to questions, then back off! Making them feel incompetent is not how to have them take pride id a job well done, thus helping YOU succeed. Moe and his prep chefs served a party of 9 in under 30 minutes. The food was DELICIOUS. I had the codfish special and the fish was neatly prepared, the tartar sauce was distinct, tasty, and fresh. The macaroni salad was some of the best I have ever had. The highest praise for this truck stop in the middle of the country. What a great surprise this place was. Traveling and needed to stop and get gas and saw they also had a diner. So we figured we could gas up & eat at the same place. Staff was great for both the gasoline portion and the diner. It looked pretty good, however tasted pretty bad. My sister and I were sharing the baked spaghetti so each took a small portion....we couldn't even finish our small portion. Also had chocolate cake...Sara Lee obviously works here because that's what it tasted like (and was cold from refrigeration and somewhat and pretty dry).
