I guess not everything can be as good as you remember from when granny took us here 40 years ago. It wasn't that busy, but we waited for a table to be bussed. Service from the kitchen was slow. My grilled walleye fish sandwich was way over spiced. The generous basket of chicken livers were good as was the ribeye sandwich with fries. Their coleslaw is vinegar based and okay. No desserts available on a Thursday night. Fresh baked home made desserts come in on Friday afternoons and are generally gone by Sunday. Our awesome waitress told us that tip. She also kept our iced tea glasses full. This is a family owned and operated tavern with kitchen, dining room, and beer garden/patio. Available to cater or host parties.

A true dive but with great service and food - it's clean - bathrooms and food areas. Service was friendly and quick - got the "special" was pork cutlet with green bean and mashed potatoes with gravy . Reminded me of my grandmas cooking . Worth the extra few mile drive off the freeway

Would you like a little bun with your walleye? It was loaded with crumbed fish, and I was filled to the max afterwards!

The fried chicken dinner is an unbeatable value at the Eagle's Nest. It is always a solid menu choice. During my other trip there, I went with the walleye sandwich, and it was terrific. The sandwich was made with a hoagie bun, and there was enough breaded walleye in between to make two sandwiches really. I look forward to coming back.

We heard this place was the best kept secret for fried chicken and we heard right. After heading about the place for two years we took a 35 minute trip to see what it is all about and the food and service was excellent. We had freshly made onion rings, fried chicken and mashed potatoes! Jared was our waiter and he took great care of us! It's worth the trip and we will be back!

Eagle's Nest... a family favorite for many years. Have had some great meals here, but our recent visit was not good. Fried chicken portion was small and dry (overcooked). Food took a long time to come out even though the place was nearly empty (late lunch on a Thursday). Waitress was not friendly at all. Step it up, guys.

    Walleye fish basket, delicious!

Our server Hailey was very bubbly and welcoming from the start. She made sure we took our time to figure out what we all wanted. Took my dad out for early father's day lunch. We all got sweet tea. Husband went with the all you can eat chicken option. Which they do that on Wednesdays and Sundays. You can mix/match dark or white meat. You get all the sides. Dumplings, mashed potatoes, greenbeans, corn, coleslaw, and apple sauce. He was full and definitely enjoyed the chicken. My dad did the chicken meal 2 dinner with 2 sides. I have food left over for later. I was so full. Food came out in timely manner. And for what we paid in total with 3 people wasnt too shabby. Theor parking lot is off to the side and wraps around l. They do have aome street side parking. Or some park across the way in a lot. Good ol days Is a staple in new baden. When you're burnt out on going to chains like cracker barrel. You forget about the small mom and pop restaurants. You like hometown vibes and southern food. Come check them out. I mean their slogan does say ' good so good you'd think we stole your grandma!!"

So, when the place my wife wanted to take me to dinner for my birthday was closed on Tuesday, she though she'd take me to a place I had never been. She's so funny. She said, "It's not Ruth's Chris, but you will love it". She was right! I ordered the 4 piece of fried chicken, beets, baked potato and it came with coleslaw too. It does take about 20 minutes as the chicken is made to order, but well worth it. Skin was delish and the meat was tender too. My wife got a smoked pork with bbq sauce and it was great too. Took about 1/2 of our food home as we shared a homemade pecan pie slice which was soooooo good with ice cream. I can't wait to go back! I love their slogan too "Food so good, you'd swear we stold your grandma!" Don't miss this place!!!! They also have ALL YOU CAN EAT fried whitefish on Tuesday and ALL YOU CAN EAT fried chicken on Sunday and I think Saturday. Not 100% sure. Go and you will thank me!

( I never had the chance to try when it was originally open) They were busy! Which I did expect as downtown belleville had a few things going on. They were so busy that sadly they were out of meatloaf and limited on some hoagie type Sandwich. I ordered the pub burger with the garlic mashed potatoes. The burger itself wasn't bad a little too salty than I'm use to. I swore I asked the waitress for the garnishes to be put on the side but they had it all on the burger. ( no big deal) the garlic mashed potatoes was a staple according to a guest that was talking to us as they left. They were good. Mine came out a little on the almost past the Luke warm stage ( I was a little bummed on that). Our oldest ordered the bone in wings buffalo flavor as a meal ( it's an appetizer) she said those were good. We also shared their French onion dip with chips. Husband had the same pub burger but he got his with steak fries. He wast thrilled that he couldn't order the burger in rare form. He too thought the burger itself was a little on the saltier aside. The prices seemed a little steep on some of the menu. ( expected on steaks and fish) I had to give them a bit of grace with all the chaos going on. Our server was kind and attentive. They didn't have much options for the festive drinks. I ordered their thin mint martini. I'd love to give them another shot in the future when it's less chaotic and they have food we want available. I will say th bar itself is cute. Reminds me of cheers. They had their front area setup with fire pits/heat lamps and tables to enjoy some hot chocolate that was only $3 for reg but if you wanted to "boozie" it up it would depend on the alcohol. They had cookies out from The cookie stroll that they offered for free. Then had a nice set up for those interested in making s'mores! Charlie's is located within historic downtown Belleville on the corner of Abend. There is only street side parking available. Keep in mind they do have breakfast or brunch too on weekends.

This place has what most wineries need - wines to suit everyone's tastes. Personally, I'm a dry red drinker, but I enjoyed almost every wine I tasted, including the sweet stuff. I was surprised to see they had a great tasting wine for those who prefer dry to the semi-sweets all the way to the sweet ones. That's an exceptional selection! We arrived when the place was hopping with a couple big parties on buses, but heard Shannon giving a tasting later in the afternoon when there wasn't such a crowd. For those who love wine and are interested in the grapes and process, find the time to do a tasting with Shannon. I was a little sad I missed the story behind the wines when we did our tasting. Regardless, the scenery was incredible and the wines were fantastic. You gotta Love a place where they treat you like family, even on your first visit!
