The meat was quite odd, both in consistency and taste. If I had to guess, they took reject pieces from their steaks and ground them up, perhaps several days ago? You couldn't cut through it with a fork. It had a strange taste to it. It wasn't at a warm or hot temperature and tasted stale. The onions that they added were delicious, but way too minuscule in size and bulk to have any taste impact. The bun was ordinary, despite their raving and reliance on its quality, and it being a Kaiser roll. The burger lacked customary garnish. Why I order cheeseburgers at high end establishments? In part? I like the quality thick beefsteak tomato slice and crisp, fresh lettuce. Here? No garnish at all, just a patty with a little cheese and onion. If the patty was fresh black angus and juicy, without the weird consistency and taste present here, and had they lavished it with mountains of similar onion and more cheese? --The risky and odd approach to making a cheeseburger might have proven successful. For this cheese to suffice, it, too, would have needed to be more pungent in taste, and abundant in presence. You could barely taste it. The mashed potatoes were quite good but way too salty. I literally crunched down on some salt crystals. That's when you know there's inordinate salt. Weird service and rock hard chairs made this bizarre stop on the way to St. Louis/ Denver more painful to savor. What irritates me was that I had to order a Caesar salad just to obtain roughage. And when you take the $30 for the salad and burger combined into account? That's a lot for such an odd experience. In summary, anyone who watches and implements the Gordon Ramsay Fword cheeseburger recipe on YouTube will end up with a vastly superior cheeseburger. In this town, while I am visiting only, from what I've read and seen in reviews, I'd recommend instead the frosty mug for basic food along these lines. My partner went with the wimpy burger ( not a wimpy burger.. 1.2 lbs) and cajun fries. From the moment you walk in, you know you've found a true local spot. It's small, cozy and decorated with fun signs and memorabilia. The staff are amazing, friendly, welcoming, and just the kind of people you want to see when you're about to dive into comfort food. Even at 1:30 pm, that in between lunch/dinner time, the place was steadily busy. And now I know why. The onion rings? Fantastic. I'm an onion ring snob and these were fresh, crispy, and legit. no frozen batter here, and none of that "pull the whole onion out in one bite" nonsense ( I hate that). The fries were hot, crisp and perfectly seasoned. And the burger is 100% beef, juicy, and packed with flavor. This is a local gem and I'm so glad we went. We'll definitely be back.

The service the last few times wasn't great, and the food quality varies a lot. For Takeaway they add extra fees that aren't disclosed prior to ordering, and then food portions are about 50% of the restaurant plate at full dine-in price. The last time we tried takeaway was on our way home the week of Valentine's. Even though they were slow when we ordered, we waited over 20m when we got there to pick it up, and the person ringing us up told us twice there's a tip line. We both got the Arroz con Pollo, and it came with chips and salsa, but the salsa container was less than half full and didn't go very far. The dinners came in very small aluminum to-go trays that were maybe 6x10". They had about 1/2" of rice across the bottom and mine had 7 small chicken strips. My husbands had a couple more strips. I can never finish the dish when we dine in, but ate the to go easily. My husband ate his and then started raiding the fridge for something else to eat. Usually we'd eat there every couple weeks, but after Valentine's, we took a little break and dined in again a couple weeks ago. I got the pineapple chicken fajitas, which were fresh, perfectly cooked and really excellent with a generous portion. My husband got the paella, but the meat was really stringy and tough, and the rice was very dry with almost no cheese sauce. The cheese sauce that was there was a weird dark brown, didn't taste good, and made him uncomfortable. When he asked the server about fixing it, he kept shrugging like he didn't understand, then said "kitchen is closed, that is all" and walked away, even though it was only a few minutes after 9, and they were open for almost another hour. (He does speak excellent English, we heard him with other tables.) After that, we sat with empty cups and didn't see him again until he handed us our bill. Over the years we've been pretty happy eating there, and had the occasional hiccup like a forgotten drink or our order getting lost in the kitchen on a busy night, but those things were rare, the staff took care of them quickly, and the food was good. These last two trips were really disappointing, though.

She did not offer a replacement of any kind and our bill DID NOT reflect a discount either, disappointing. The customer is always right, remember that!
