I've been seeing the doctors here for around 8 years and I love the doctors and audiologists and that's why I always come back, but the billing department is such a headache. Asking for an itemized receipt seems to be very difficult. It could be the IT's fault but c'mon. I should be able to know every charge I'm being charged for when I leave building instead of being confused. Also why do the receptionist have to use a calculator for what I'm being charged for. That seems a little dated and should all be done on the computer. I feel frustrated every time I leave after an appointment. I've also had some issues with scheduling but that has gotten better over the years. read more

I have been seeing the physicians and PA's at Ear Medical group for about 7 years. Late last year I called to get a follow up scheduled and they never answered the phone saying that they were having more traffic than normal and were trying to hire more receptionists. I left a message and after I made a post on Facebook with the issue they quickly called me back. Today I called again and got the same message that they were having more calls than usual. Again, I left a message and am waiting for a return call. If they can not fix the problem then perhaps the Office Manager need to explain the problem or perhaps they need to replace the office manager. I am very happy with the staff, Physicians, PA's, audiologists, etc. but they really need to answer the phones. Very disappointed. read more

My medical care here has always been fine, but the audiology department is such a rip off! I went to them when I first lost my hearing because I didn't realize that I had a choice. I thought I'd need to go to the place affiliated with my doctor. I paid $5000 out of pocket. The hearing aids themselves were good, but getting service for them was always a challenge because of staff turnover. This year, I went to a better audiologist who sold me the updated version of my last hearing aids. I only paid $2500 out if pocket because they work with TruHearing! And I get a 3 year warranty instead of Ear Medical's 2 year. Please shop around. Even Costco would be a better option. They inflate the price because the people who have to see an ENT are often scared, vulnerable, and don't know their options. read more

Took my son to see Dr King after a year with an ENT that couldn't find the problem with my son's constant ear pressure . In the first visit she diagnosed him! She is so thorough and asked all the right questions to get a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. I highly recommend her!! The only issue is staff doesn't answer the phones. I called everyday at different times for 3 weeks straight and never could get answered. It's unfortunate because Dr King is truly amazing!! read more

Their computer called me to reschedule my appointment which is 2 weeks away. I had to call them back. They didn't answer the phone. Finally, they called me back. What a waste of time. They offered me ONE option in the same week (yes, ONE) which conflicted with a specialist appt I have to take my Dad to. They then said the next available is EIGHT weeks later. GMAFB. I had an appointment with Dr. King M.D. for a Hearing Test Evaluation. I found her and her entire staff to be very professional and knowledgeable about the hearing problems I exhibited due to a congenital genetic defect. She informed me that I can benefit from hearing aids which couldn't help me in the past but, due to advances in technology can now. Her office is going to help me to obtain my hearing aids and adjust to them and I look forward to working with her. I highly recommend her for any medical condition requiring an Otolaryngologist or an Audiologist. She works just as well with children as she does with adults which makes her office good for the whole family. read more

Dr. King and her PA Sarah are both amazing! I have been using them since about 2001, so 19 years and her team are the only ones who solved my swimmer's ear infections. Most Doctors just give you drops and send you on your way, but they are thorough. They take their time on the exam, gently clean your ear, give you the right medication and teach you how to do at-home care. I haven't had to wait long for my appointments, but would. It is worth it. Dr. Brian Perry performed ear surgery on me a few weeks ago. He did such a phenomenal job. He is so knowledgeable and made me feel really comfortable during such a stressful time. I had a cholesteatoma in my left ear that he removed. Recovery has been great and the pain was bearable. People compliment the incision in the back of my ear. Post op appointments have positive feedback but that's in part to Dr. Perry being very good at what does. If you have the something similar I highly recommend this doctor. read more

My son sees Dr King and we have had a fairly good experience with her. I had eardrum reconstruction myself with Dr Syms,and the surgery and first couple of follow ups went well. We have had a couple issues with billing though, and lately I can't get a live person to make an appointment. I've been leaving messages on and off for at least 6 MONTHS and no one has ever called me back from his office. read more

Dr. Syms is a no non sense kind of doctor. I was having chronic ear infections in 2015, and was referred to him by the ENT. In May 2015 he had told me if I stayed infection free, we would do surgery to clean out the ear canal. In June he told me we were going to do the surgery. In July the surgery was completed with out complications and I the skin was sent to be biopsied. I had a follow up in a week but received a phone call to go to the office the next day. I went there and received the news that I had cancer. He felt confident that he had gotten it all, but before I left the office he was on the phone with an oncologist getting everything set up for my radiation treatment. When my husband retired and got a new job, he was no longer on our insurance. I continued to go see him and pay for being out of network because he is the only one I trust with my ear care. read more

Hello, I was very pleased with Dr. Brian Perry, as I work overseas and my insurance does not cover me here in the US. Back in FEB, I had a consultation w/Dr. Perry regarding my dizziness and imbalance. He was very helpful in helping me to understand a forward-moving plan once I returned to China, precautions, and possible causes/disorders of my condition. Once in China, I used the medical group answering service on skype to get some info. They responded to me. Now, this summer, I am rehabilitating with exercises given to me by ear/vestibular specialists in Korea. Dr. Perry wanted to conduct tests to figure out why I still have residual dizziness but once I reminded them of my insurance situation, they encouraged me to continue with what I've done on my own. I appreciated their honesty, directness, and help. These vestibular disorders are DIFFICULT! Along with rehab, I recommend the Paleo diet, lots of water, no alcohol, walking, golf, meditation including walking meditation, and acupuncture (Dr. HO in San Antonio/Kerrville is great). read more

I previously wrote a not-so-great review mostly pertaining to the wait times as well as some irritable staff. This part hasn't changed however... Dr. Syms is worth it. My diagnosis now requires surgery and Dr. Syms is very knowledgeable, has explained everything, and was supportive of a second opinion (in which I was referred right back to Syms). He is thorough and clearly an expert in his field without being a jerk about it, as some surgeons occasionally are. If you are a special case, I highly recommend seeing Dr. Syms! If you need basic care, just for purposes of not waiting several hours for an appointment.. you may consider going elsewhere (but would get really great care here). read more

I wish there were enough words for me to describe the terrible experience I had at Ear Medical Group yesterday. I've never gone out of my way to write a bad review, until now. That should speak for itself. From the parking lot attendant, to the front desk lady, to the doctor whom I saw, it was the worst experience I've ever had. On the throat portion of the test, I was struggling with my gag reflex and I was being told aggressively, "OPEN YOUR MOUTH, ITS ALL IN YOUR HEAD." Went in for Ménière's disease which they diagnosed. Every visit I had to do a hearing test which was very expensive. They finally recommended steroid shots that didn't help, and now I have this weird ventilation in my ear. I know it's not their fault but I feel like I spent thousands of dollars, hours of pain, and no resolution whatsoever. That info would have been helpful up front. read more

Literally wait over 1hr and 15 min every time we come here. That was written a couple months ago I never finished my review. This is about my 5th time here still the same thing. It's been over an hour from my appointment time, and I also arrived 15 min early, still waiting. my son is also being seen for an infection from a procedure that was done here. I agree with the other review that hardly anyone knows what's going on and to make sure you are being seen or having the correct procedure done. I had to tell everyone what was going on because no one knew. Thank god i had been paying attention or else who knows what would have happened to my son. Smh. read more

This is a sorry operation. From scheduling to the insensitivity of nurses PA's and Dr Syms. Three strikes and this practice is OUT! On one occasion, I arrived for my appointment with the Dr., arrived 20 minutes early. Taken to examining room 30 minutes after my appointment was scheduled. I waited for an hour in the examina room without so much of an interim explination as to why the were later an apology. I was the 1 st appointment after lunch. When the PA came in , there was No apology and I asked why I was not seeing the Dr. He did finally come in briefly talked with me, handed me back over to PA and the visit was over. I was there 3 hours by the time I left. Continued with seeing Dr syms and never had positive caring visits. Last straw was my inability to get an appointment to see dr when I was having drainage and infection issues in ear that he had inserted a tube into. Oh they said it would be a month. I needed to see the specialist who had been "treating " me for three years. That was the last straw after he had ordered many tests and xaminations with no solutions to my chronic problem with ear infections. Didn't seem to care either. DONE WITH THIS LOUSY CARE,! read more

Bad experience. Arrived at 8:30 for 9:00 appt. Told after an hour & half that my appt was at 9:30. Told I was a new patient after not being here one year..."new policy." Supervisor cane to talk to me... made it worse. I missed an 11:00 funeral of a friends 31 year old son passing away. It's 11:50, just saw the doctor for 5 minutes and waiting to be told I can leave. Two things: Customer Service and Efficiency are needed at this practice. Only good part: The resident doctor was very nice & thorough. read more

I have been seeing Dr. Susan King after a long and frustrating search for help with facial paralysis resulting from Hunt-Ramsey Syndrome. While it presents similarly to Bells Palsy, it is distinctly different. After two-three years I finally stumbled onto Dr. King who not only knew the illness but actually had a treatment plan. For the first time in years I am able to regain some control of the facial muscles that were affected and I can venture out without feeling like everyone is staring at my affliction. Finally the future holds some promise for recovery. Dr. King is nothing short of an angel from heaven. Her staff is equally friendly and knowledgeable. read more

I am in late stage pregnancy living 30 miles north and was told that the only way to get my test results was in office. Of course, I was charged for that visit. The diagnosis? I have received decent care here, though I have also suffered some of the long waiting room times that other reviewers mention. I would like to highlight that this practice has an unadvertised rule that they will not transfer you among doctors. While a bit draconian, it is what it is. HOWEVER, that information is not presented to incoming patients. In my case, I was referred to Dr. King, who had a long waiting list. I elected to see another doctor in the meantime. Now, I cannot even see Dr. King for a 15 minute consultation - unless I wait 3 years, at which point I'll no longer be a patient and can re-enroll. read more

This place is a joke, the doctor is very insensitive and acts like a little b****, does not work well with children, the staff does not know what the hell is going on, so if you do go in for a procedure, make sure you are being seen for what you went in for , Also the staff is useless, they do not help or assist with any information of the procedure or do they assist with the patient getting off the bed after being put under. Very Very disappointed with this operation...They herd you in like cattle! Treat you like a number, and only in it for the $ $. I have been lied to about Dr.'s orders being done and have been run around only to have cancel due to the incompetence of the staff there. I believe they are just too busy to give the individual attention and concern for a patients well being. I think they got off tract of a physicians true purpose... to help the sick. read more

5 O'Clock Surprise! The PA ordered multiple tests. I was given no information about the number or the exact nature of the tests, only that they would take about 3-4 hours and required some restrictions on diet and medications prior to the tests. I was not told anything about cost or what tests were covered by Medicare. When I arrived for the tests two weeks later the receptionist handed me a bill for $500 and indicated that the $500 had to be paid up front for all the tests to be done that day. I was not feeling well and had no way to get home if I refused the tests, and so I signed hoping the tests would help doctors find a solution to my problem. I did not know that the bill was for only two of the tests and that I could have refused those two tests and still continue with the other tests. I signed the agreement to pay for the tests under duress. My blood pressure tested that day was much higher than normal! Don't go here! The doctors may be competent but the staff operates like a shady car repair. Really- this incident is just one of many I've endured here-. read more

First impressions mean the world. When you are the front office scheduling coordinator, you are the pillar of the practice, the face of the experience, the first impression. My first impression was very unwelcoming. Their office hours are 8:00a-5:00p. I called and left a message at 9:00 and another at 10:30. No return phone call until 11:03. I am being referred for surgery by a fellow ENT for an intimidating surgery and the scheduler was insistent that I was being seen for vertigo, not true. She proceeded to tell me how much I don't know. I informed her that the referring ENT called her doctor personally as well as sent the referral paperwork stating my condition and she said, that's not why we are seeing you. Our doctor will have to run tests to determine your condition. I told her I have CT results (a huge pack of heavy xray paper). She told me I wouldn't be seen unless I had a disc of my CT scan and that it was up to me to get it. Here's my beef. I already know I'm getting ready to have an alarming surgery (for me) and could potentially lose my hearing for good...why make my first impression such an icky one? I don't understand why medical professionals tend to hire such rude front office staff. We come to you in need, in pain, treat us with kid gloves and an ounce of kindness, please! read more
