Pros: I like this station because it is less congested than the nearby metro stations like Civic…read moreCenter. Usually there are not too many people waiting around to get on the metro and you get an extra jump on a seat on the train. Also plenty of parking to leave your car. Cons: I have heard of car break ins lately. Not sure how this happens because I always see security there looking but I guess this station is not in the most favorable area in town and things like this can happen anywhere, anytime.

While I am sure they pass inspection yearly, they could still use an upgrade. For one they are way too small. When my son was stroller age, I could barely fit his stroller in the elevator. The wheels were barely able to fit through the elevator doors. Transportation itself is ok as long as the trains are not late or stuck on the track. Perhaps this was the motivation to replace the older the trains for newer ones. While I have seen the implementation of newer trains, all trains have not been replaced. I rode two older trains today that reeked of urine and were a little dirty. I am happy to see that they upgrading the trains however. I hope they keep that same energy and give the metro rail stations a makeover.

One of the shadier metro stations on the line... but then again, they all are. Between the Overtown…read morestation and the Civic Center stop, Culmer seems to be a strange place for a metro stop anyway. Not that I'm complaining, considering it's convenient for when I'm visiting friends who live at the apartment building right across the street. Standard security courtesy of MDC Transit, the elevator here is out about 40% of the time, and the escalator is almost always going up. Good enough, it's a metro station.

You can also take the orange line to get to the airport. It also has a transfer at the Tri-Rail station where you can opt to go all the way to West Palm beach. This particular station has connecting bus routes to downtown and connects to the 595 express that takes you all the way to Sunrise in Broward County. Additionally if you are going to Marlins park and you don't want to get stuck in traffic and avoid 20+ dollar parking this is a great solution. You can park your car at any Metro-Rail station and get an all day pass and come to this station and the marlins shuttle (the 55 bus) will take you to and from the Stadium. They have shuttles running from the Stadium to the Culmer Metro-Rail station from prior to the game up to 2 hours after the last pitch. Also pointing out that riding public transportation is great for the enviroment and helps decongest highways. Great work Miami-Dade Transit!

The train came and left on time. And I got to my destination of Sheridan Street at the time the schedule said. This station though is located right next to a waste facility. The entire station reeks of garbage. I should've taken my Lyft up to the Metrorail Transfer Station if I had known about this before... Do NOT use the vending machines here. First I tried using the snack machine. I inserted my coins first and the bill slot did not work, so I pushed coin return and it did not return my change to me. Then I tried using the Pepsi machine. Every time I put in my dollar and tried to make a selection, it spit my dollar back out. And finally, I tried using the Coca Cola machine. The machine took my bills, but I think something was wrong with the number pad. When I pressed coin return, the screen showed my money being returned in 25 cent increments, but no coins came out. Oh and conveniently, the snack machine had a plastic covering the QR code for refunds. My phone wasn't able to scan it. My phone was able to scan the Coca Cola machine's QR code for a refund. But the machine number was covered by a white strip of tape... At least the Pepsi machine didn't take my money.
