Beauitful, modern, clean. I'm happy!
Anna C.

Great transportation system. How does this not have more reviews?! Easy to use and efficient for out-of-town travelers. There is an inner and outer loop MetroMover downtown, which connects to the MetroRail, which has reach to MIA airport and more. Highlights -Modern -Clean -Well lit -MetroMover is free -Metrorail is $2.50 per ride, no matter what distance Beware being lured by the food court. Reasonably priced but lackluster food and they switched my burrito with someone else's and didn't realize until I bit in to it on the train. An unpleasant discovery for someone with dietary restrictions. Plus, if you want to get on the Metrorail from the food court you have to buy another ticket. Learn from my mistake, and the entire family who made the same mistake 30 seconds after me.

Ah, Briteline Station. A yellow explosion of everything you didn't ask for in a travel hub…read more Aesthetically, it's like a lemon threw up and said, "NEON." It's a lot to handle, honestly. If airports are elegant chaos, Brightline is... well, a well-intentioned chaos with a touch too much flair. The smell? Oh boy. I don't know if they're going for "fresh" or "citrusy," but it hits you like a scent bomb that's somehow both overwhelming and... confusing? I'm not sure whether I'm in a train station or a high-end cleaning product store. Bathrooms? Peak. They were actually the highlight--clean, functional, and definitely the only place where I felt my dignity was intact. But when you have to do your business on a train with moving bathrooms, it adds a level of adventure I didn't ask for. The whole "swaying while you use the necessary " thing is a unique thrill, though. The store? Closed early the morning Now, let's talk about the train itself--big, comfy, and pretty solid for a ride. The seats are spacious, and the vibe is more "luxurious commuter" than "who's-holding-my-seat" chaos. Would I return? Well, I guess. The train's solid, and the station's got character... even if that character is a bit much. But hey, it's an experience, and sometimes you have to embrace the madness.

The primary focus of the museum seemed to be the aquarium. The boys really wanted to see the dinosaurs and the museum houses a small exhibit. there were many options for the kids to interact with throughout the museum and they came away with big smiles. As an adult, I wished the museum were laid out differently to enhance the flow from one exhibit to the next. Easy access both inside and outside. Ramps between floors and elevators made access with wheel chairs and strollers easy. Parking is relatively expensive but leaving the car at home and taking Brightline made that part exciting for the kids and more relaxing for me.

It took us about 2.5 hours to explore the entire place including the planetarium show. The show that worked out best with timing was called "How to Die in Space: An Interactive Adventure Through the Cosmos." The girl leading it was wonderful but as you may figure by its name, the show was not a peaceful experience. There were a number of explosions that I think scared some of the kids in attendance. The other exhibits included one about flight, the human body/mind, an aquarium, dinosaurs, and general Florida wildlife. I can't say I learned a terrible amount of new information but it was fine. I appreciate the museum's mission and it probably would be cool for toddlers-little kids.

It does lose a star for the constant problem (across MetroRail stations) that the machines don't take a variety of debit/credit cards. Otherwise, it's positive that it's so well integrated within its urban environment, with bus stops and a nearby vehicular parking garage. As usual, there's typical anxiety if the train is coming, the trains don't run late enough, and it is so absurd that you have to tap your ticket/card to leave the station - what kind of regressive, criminalization of transit usage is that!? Absolutely needs to be changed. ALL THAT SAID, it's such a net positive to have rail options (with signage and audio message in three (3!) languages) in this urban-surburban-car-dominated-megaopolis - and I support it fully and want MORE investment in stations (better than this) to make it better.

From there, we can get to several stations to transfer to a bus or to get to downtown. The trains are clean and they have good climate control. Many people use them and they bring their bikes and scooters on as they embark to a different destination. A good choice if you are in the Miami metro area. We got the Easy card for $2 and then the day pass for less than $6.

I've always been pretty intimidated to try this and since I love to walk I never find the point on hopping on but I was pleasantly surprised by how fun, easy, safe and efficient the entire experience was! We hopped on from Brickell City Centers location and managed to get dropped off right by my apartment. Though, I don't think I'd use it so often because I enjoy walking I could see myself using the metro rail on rainy days, lazy days or even for longer distances!

Like any big city, you do need to use your common sense when taking the train. Still and all, with the growth Miami has experienced in the last few years, it is certainly getting better. There are a nice amount of apartments, bars, restaurants and shops right next to the Brickell stop. The Brickell station also connects to the Metromover, which puts downtown and the Edgewater area a short ride and definitely cheaper than an rideshare. Walk a few blocks down the Underline Park under the tracks, and you're in the Coral Way / Roads area as well. Case in point, this last Friday night I was able to enjoy my Elite Experience Burger at Burgermeister (2 blocks away), run an errand on Coral Way and jump on the Metrorail (30 minute wait at that time) to the station closest my house and uber over. Glad to see this growth in multimodal transportation for our city.
