Solidly, absolutely, totally fine. We came in for our first meal in London after flying into town and just needed a place that was open at 11:30 AM on a Saturday. Earl's Court Tavern checked the box. All of us thought the food was fine, the beer was cold, and the service was friendly and quick. I tried the fish and chips, and it was squarely in the middle on the fish-and-chips food spectrum--it wasn't bad, and I'll never get it again. The kids got wings and they had enough to say that they were fine, too. This would be the kind of place I would hit from time to time in emergencies if I lived nearby, because I have a feeling they do everything on the menu moderately well. read more

Ahh... my old local! Came here most recently in October 2023 and can honestly say that not much has changed! I popped in for an afternoon lunch and was happy that it was pretty quiet.. able to easily get to the bar, order, get a table, etc. I did walk by on a Friday night, too, and it was more crowded -- so depending on what type of atmosphere you're looking for, it varies. My wife and I found this tavern near our hotel after we landed in London for our honeymoon. This is a good solid British pub/tavern. We ordered the Big Fish & Chips and Halloumi & Chips for food. I realized we could not eat the scampi due to it not being a kosher fish and my wife's shellfish allergies (as I discovered it is a type of shrimp), so we got all cod instead. To drink we got the Camden Pale Ale which was very good and the Greene King IPA which wasn't bad but not as good as the Camden. The prices are affordable and the service was friendly too. Apparently, I now see this is part of a network of over 3,100 Greene King pubs as their menu is on the Greene King network's site. read more

During our stay in London, we stayed at the Kensington Court Hotel in Earl's Court. As soon as we landed and checked into the hotel, our first stop was Earls Court Tavern. We JUST got to London so we were all excited to be at an English Pub. The interior was just perfect to set the mood for our arrival. Since it was a Thursday morning around 11am, there were hardly anyone at the restaurant so we had full attention from the Bartender :) We ordered the fish n chips (get the mashed green peas on the side they are SO GOOD), chicken pot pie and some bangers (Bratwürste) with our Guinness :) the Fish n Chips were pretty good but nothing special... but the Chicken Pot Pie and the Bangers were BANGIN'! We went a bit early to order the non-breakfast menu so we got there and drank beer for an hour before we ordered~! Go after 12 noon for the full menu! Next time you are in Earl's Court and you are looking for an English Pub or just looking for a place to eat, try Earls Court Tavern :) I liked it! read more

It's a decent London pub. Nothing to make it stand out among the hundreds of pubs in London and the 3 other pubs within 100 yards. We ate here and the fish & chips were good, not great. It's a Pub-in-a-Box owned by a huge corporation with hundreds of locations. Nothing wrong with that, but I will usually save my pounds for a locally-owned pub with a bit more character. read more

My husband's cell phone was stolen while eating at this pub. Workers at the pub allowed non-patrons into the restaurant who were going from table to table under the auspices of selling newspapers, but were pick pocketers. When we reported the theft to the people working at the pub, they said they called the police and handed the phone to my husband only to learn they contacted the "wrong police department." On vacation in London and on our first day wanted to visit a true pub. We picked Earl's Court Tavern based on other ratings (which were good) and proximity to our hotel. First time we went it was very crowded (a good thing). They had a soccer game on and it was great. The people in the pub were really into it. We had a couple of beers and some fish & chips. The service was very good, the beers were draught and very cold, and the fish & chips were excellent. Only negative was halftime when they switched the game audio to music. When the game restarted one of the patrons had to ask them to switch it to the game. This was probably a flag that we should have picked up on. But it ended well and we went back to the hotel. We came back a couple nights later. The crowd wasn't as big, but was a little earlier than our first visit. They had a snooker game on, which was great. The service started off good, and the beers were once again ice cold. The problem started with the music. It was techno style mixed with some pop songs, none that of which was very good. And certainly not a good fit for a British pub. And it was loud!! Really loud!! Far more of the patrons were older, like us (mid - late 60's), and it was obvious they didn't care for it. I asked the server at the bar to turn it down a bit and her response was "the manager told her to keep it loud". I asked for the manager but he conveniently wasn't there. I told her it was wrong and she should turn it down. My wife went up to the bar a little while later and again told her it was too loud, so she gave in and turned it down. A few of the other patrons nodded in agreement that it was too loud. When our fish & chips arrived it wasn't nearly as good as the first night. The fries were fewer, and the fish was cooked but the batter coating was rubbery and fell off the fish. It was pretty obvious the oil wasn't hot enough. We finished our meal and drinks, and paid our bill. Just as we were going out the door the girl cranked the music up. A petty move by an immature kid. I'm giving 3 stars because I can't give a half star, and the first night was really good. We won't be going back. read more

Earls Court was disgustingly busy while we were looking for dinner, so this place was the 5th (FIFTH!) pub we tried. The Tavern was moderately busy, but large and so not packed like some of the other pubs. The beer girl greeted us warmly and had a few rounds of playful banter as she poured two drinks. Good start! I ordered the small fish and chips and the server kindly let me exchange the peas with salad. Another good sign! The food came out after a short wait and I dived in. Salad: excellent. Chips: perfect. Fish: ehhhhhhhhh. The fish needed a little love. The portion was large, but the batter was just OK and a bit too greasy for me. The tartar sauce was basically mayonaise with a hint of relish. I applied ample amounts of both lemon and vinegar and that helped, but I prefer food that doesn't need help. Earls Court Tavern had an awesome vibe, great servers, and a full menu of both food and beer, but the fish and chips failed to impress. I'll definitely go back, but might grab dinner somewhere else first! read more

Diners beware! Initially looks like a lovely pub w/ delicious menu. UNFORTUNATELY, they seem not to have most of the food on it (from onion rings to sirloin steak) but worse, they don't bother to tell you when you order that your sirloin w/ onion rings, pepper sauce & chips will end up being a rump steak with late cold congealed pepper sauce AND without onion rings (& no they don't bother refunding you the difference proactively but grudgingly agree to give you 2 pounds for the wrong steak after you insist). Apparently they had run out of a lot of ingredients over the weekend. Unacceptable uncaring service. The chicken & mushroom pie was also a little dry & I have had much better. Disappointed. While traveling in London we stayed at a hotel down the street from this tavern. After sleeping all day and trying to adjust to the jet lag we woke up in the middle of the night and were craving food! This was a great choice that we made, the food here was so good. I loved the Fish & Chips. It came with everything! The bar had a huge range of ciders to try. I started bouncing between different ones, with my favorite being the Kiwi & Lime Cider. Not a huge tavern, but perfect for the area that it is in with a great atmosphere. The bar staff were really nice and friendly. I am looking forward to coming back and getting the Fish & Chips again for another late night "dinner" and I would easily recommend this place to any friends that visit the same general area. read more

We had just landed in London for the first time ever, and wanted a convenient, but ideally authentic, pub experience. We walked up and down the street a bit to find something that looked realistic and not to commercial. The menu at Earl's Court Tavern looked... touristy, but also stood out to us because it had a lot of clearly marked vegetarian offerings. I had already accepted the fact that I wouldn't get an authentic Fish & Chips experience on this trip at all. But then I saw the Fries Halloumi Cheese and Chips item on their menu, and we stopped immediately. The meal was great, the service was fine, the beer was tasty. This was a nice pub. I went with a few co-workers. The food and atmosphere was nice. I think it's a typical London Pub. I ordered sausage and mash. Which is sausage and mash potatoes with gravy and bits of onion. It was good the sausage was lacking a bit of flavor for me but the gravy and onions really made up for it. I loved the onions in the gravy sweet and perfect. The mash potatoes were a bit stiff but I think that's how they do it in London. My co-workers loved their food. They had fish & chips. So pretty much your traditional English pub. Nothing too special but nothing bad. Good Beer and cider selection, basic fish n chips, and always some kind of Soccer (football) game or highlights on. I also went their for breakfast and even though the food was just like every other English pub breakfast, I must say the staff was a lot friendlier than most English pubs, especially typical night staffs. If you are in the South Kensington/Chelsea area, not a bad place to hang out, meet new people, and have some good old English food. Their website says they open at 11:00am, however they are open around 9:30am for Breakfast. The staff was friendly and helpful, and very patient with our out-of-town-ness. The barkeep suggested a couple ales to us, and we proceeded to have a relaxed, enjoyable time at the pub. The food was standard, average pub food. Good chips. I really enjoyed the perfect tavern ambiance that this place had going for it. Very clean and kept-up, yet completely traditional. Ordered big fish and chips, regular fish and chips (it appeared the only difference was bread come with the big fish and chips), tomato soup and Mac and cheese - all were quite tasty. We broke one of my cardinal travel rules: we went to the same restaurant twice. BUT in our defense, the breakfast was so good, we wanted to try their dinner. We enjoyed our nice leisurely breakfast. The hot chocolate was so good I had to have a second. My egg, sausage, bacon wrap was so large I couldn't finish it. This place was the first stop we made upon our arrival into London. We were staying in apartments down the road and while we waited for our check in we stopped in to Earl's Court Tavern for lunch. The pub/restaurant is conveniently located across from the Earl's Court tube station. We had great service and excellent food. We ordered a couple of pints, a burger and the steak pie which were both very good. This is your quintessential British pub with creaky floors, wooden beams and a good selection of pints on tap. We enjoyed this place so much we ended up returning two nights later for late night drinks. Unfortunately, food was only served upstairs in the dining room after a certain time of night so we didn't end up ordering dinner. I would definitely recommend this place as there are lots of people coming and going, great food and friendly service.
