The Stanhope Arms is a neighborhood pub located in the Burrough of Kensington. Built in the 19th century they offer traditional British food. The location was perfect for us, opposite of the Gloucester Road underground station and in walking distance of our hotel. Also, I like that you can reserve a table, and that they are open late if you are looking for a late night drink. We stopped in late one evening and really enjoyed the crowd and meeting all sorts of people. At this pub, I was introduced to the non-alcoholic Guinness which is my favorite NA beers to this day!!!!

This was my first meal in London! I honestly don't have a good frame of reference but after a 9 hour flight... this seemed great! Order everything at the bar and then grab a seat somewhere. Steak and ale pie (4): gravy had good flavor. Pie was crispy and somewhat flaky. Not too much steak inside but did I mention the gravy was good? I got it with mashed potatoes and the gravy just seemed to compliment it. The Guinness tasted amazing for some reason! Maybe I'm just used to the pours in the US but I could have drank a few liters of this stuff! Overall, great intro to London pubs IMO.

Fun pub. Only here once on a beautiful late afternoon for a couple quick pints. Lots of light and some folks doing the same, a few pints. Cider on tap and some N/A beers including Guinness.

My wife and I arrived at our Gloucester Road AirBnB after an 11 hour flight from Los Angeles and a 45 minute tube ride from Heathrow. Exhausted but starving, we ventured up the road and were overjoyed to find a proper traditional London pub not two minutes away. The Stanhope was the best thing that could have happened to us that damp and cold evening. It's golden glow welcoming us in from the night. We were revived with ale and food and the happiness one only gets from returning home after many years away. A proper pint of Guinness and a steak pie and chips for me, pint of Stellar  and fish n chips for the missus. And then back to the flat with full bellies for many sleeps. I look forward to my next meal at the Stanhope someday.

Came back after 13 years. I studied abroad in London in 2010 and came Back today. Good service and friendly owners

I always pop in for a drink and some late bar food. Great location next to the tube and extremely friendly staff and patrons.

So, I'm not quite sure whether I could consider this a pub or just a bar, but it seems that in England, or at least in London, pretty much all of the pubs simply look like old style bar. Hey, I'm not complaining, and in fact I personally don't care - they are pubs as far as I'm concerned, and like this one, they certainly have quite a bit of charm. Actually, it was in this one that I have discovered that in the six years since I was last here, craft beers, and proper Australian (or should I say Amercian) style craft beers have pretty much appeared everywhere, so I have to say that I'm certainly in my element here.

This is a cute small pub with great ambiance and decor. You can order from your table (recommended) bc the place can be busy. The steak and ale pie was delicious. As an American, I wasn't sure I would like it but it was so good. It has just a touch of ale in the gravy and the crust was perfect. They give a side of extra gravy which was a great call.

Nice typical pub. Great place to sit and have some beers. Old school decor. They have a nice variety of beer. They let you know when it's close to close with a bell. Near the tube

Place was very loud and bright. Service was not friendly. Chips were very good. Fish was a little soggy.

It's at the bottom of a Holiday Inn, or at least, it appeared to be that way, and was a strange mish-mash of a pub. I think it was trying to feel like it was really old, yet it had the strangest collection of furniture and decor. We had a blast making fun of this tavern. Tables were laid out in sort of a weird fashion and at first we were really close to this group of 20 somethings that were fairly drunk and really obnoxious and a woman who was sitting by herself at a table for 6 who was reading a book while her food sat off to the side. The drunk group left and it got nice and quiet and so did the woman who had a better table than we did so we took her table. Nothing we drank was anything we'd ever come back for. There are way too many good pubs in London. Unless everything else is closed and this is the only option, go elsewhere!

Not sure what the thing about hotel guests only is, I'm sure there were other people here and they weren't checking for room keys.

Confirmed with our hotel concierge, we set foot for The Anglesea Arms. When we got there, there were about 100 lads and lasses outside enjoying pints and conversation. Thought we would have to settle elsewhere for our grub. We decided to inquire inside and found the restaurant side to be relatively empty, this was about 7pm. Josh was our wonderful waiter. We all enjoyed our fish ( golden fried haddock) and chips, along with a few pints of local lager. Wonderful atmosphere. Highly recommend this pub. As a note, when we exited, we discovered even more lads and lasses had congregated outside. If your young and enjoy a few pints, this was a hot spot, at least on a Friday evening.

We came by to just take pictures to send to them but decided to pop in for drinks and lunch. It was 12:30 and we were hungry from walking around all morning. We sat outside on the patio out front. It had a reserved sign on the table but the hostess said we can have the table. It was a hot day with maybe the 3rd or 4th heat wave of the summer! We wanted to sit outside but in the shade. The table they gave us was perfect! The pints and cocktails were a perfect start. We ordered: Crab malfade £20 Chicken and Parm Ham Schnitzel £20.50 Fish & Chips £22.50 Only the crab malfade was good. The rest of the meals were not great but we were hungry so we ate them. Still giving them a 4 stars for great ambiance and service. Definitely more of a drinks spot.
