I had 2 children at the daycare, I removed them because my 3 year old had been acting out. The director of the daycare is not friendly at all and could use some people skills. How can you run a business and not like speaking to people or smile? I gave a 2 weeks notice for my son to leave, and was released before the 2 weeks. Read all these horrible reviews for this company and god help you if you still choose to attend. I have been attending this daycare on and off for 5 years. My first experience was great but recently it just SLACKS TREMENDOUSLY in all areas. The director, mrs jackson, and here assistant director , Elizabeth , are TERRIBLE COMMUNICATORS. They each will tell the parent one thing on the phone only for it to change when they actually see you in person. They dont care about your situation or your kid just their pockets. If a process changes , like not accepting vacation days for a full week , they will not tell you until it is too late and make you pay out of pocket. Then they tell you that they will give you time to pay but they switch it up on you and try to tell you that they wont accept your child unless you pay immediately, even though paperwork in their handbook it says balances are due at the end of the week! Terrible that they expect someone who is poor and needs to have state assistance ,to be able to pull money out of nowhere same day in order to keep their day job....which is why children go in the first place. They have also misplaced my payments for days claiming it was never received and make you stand there (wasting your time) and watch them look for it and find it before allowing you to leave. They tried overcharging me for weeks when I first enrolled telling me I had a larger copay then i did.. Instead of giving the money back when they relized I was overpaying they held on to it until about a month later ,when I used all my vacation days , they told me " you have to pay out of pocket , the money you paid us for a copay you never had is going to applied to this balance". The infant room toys and exersaucer are ALWAYS DIRTY from babies puking on them and they dont clean it up , they just stick the the next kid in there to play with puked on toys. I brought this to their attention, they cleaned it one time during the 5 month period I was there. After that one time it was never clean on any given day. The infants are always sick because of LACK OF SANITATION. The teachers told me they are responsible for cleaning everything in their own room and there was no janitor to vacuum and wipe down surfaces and toys. There was a time that they OVERFED my daughter significantly and called me telling me I needed to come get my daughter from school because she was "uncomfortable ". Ive told them not to feed her certain foods but they did anyway. They told me my daughter had a rash and to come get her but nothing visible when I showed up. They intentionally do things to send your child home so you dont meet the required hours just so they can charge you out of pocket. They are an on an outdated system , only giving you a paper at the end of the day ,which are forged half the time to look like they did well caring for your child. Ive caught them lying about what time they fed her and changed her. They would write down they fed her at 245 when i picked her up at 2 or that she ate at home in the morning when they know she didnt. Everyone else is using the brightwheel app providing live updates. DO NOT SEND YOUR KIDS TO THIS DAYCARE.... not at all they withheld information from me until the very day that my son was to start class there and it caused me to almost looseeverything because i had no where for him to go. They told me i could get part time care then said no you cant but you cam at our other locations, then turned around and told me it would be 400 dollars a month ...IM UNEMPLOYED this place is a freaking joke they need to be under new management read more

I absolutely loved my son's teacher, she was awesome. The curriculum was effictive and they were actually learning. However, my son mentioned to me that someone hit him on two different occasions. The director is the rudest person you'll ever meet. I had a conflict with my son there and the director did not let me see the security cameras. Which lead me to believe that there was something to hide. read more

Working for Early Steps has been a wonder experience. The Directors are caring, educated, professional people. The owners have worked very hard to offer (5 Stars) quality service to the children in the Richmond community. It as been a joy to be a part of a professional team of teachers, and staff. The teachers were so ready to help me as a new teacher by taken me under their wings and training me on how to run a classroom. We share teaching ideas, and activities as a team. We have dress down day on Fridays, team building meetings, and we typically have dinner together monthly. I'm not sure about anybody else, but I actually like working at Early Steps. read more

Just don't do it!!! Not a reliable daycare. If you're a week late they'll kick your kid out!

The worse daycare EVER. unfortunately all the reviews I read were ok and it was only 2 min from where I live in bed so it was VERY convenient for us! But here's a review from a mom who actually went through a lot of crap at early steps learning center in Chardon! First of all my son was always sick there! He always got pink eyes literally at least once a month! That told me a lot about how dirty the place was!. One day I walked in to pick up my son who's 2years old, I found one of the staff changing him on bare bathroom floor nothing underneath him at all. When I asked why she's changing him on the floor she said" this room is for toddlers and they all have pull up and your son isn't in one" keep in mind my son just started transitioning to the toddler room! The director is very rude! I dunno why I kept my son there for a whole year there. When we wanted to transfer to another day care she gave me such a hard time! She wanted me to give them two weeks notice, I did give them two weeks notice, then the next day I dropped him off I found out that she is letting us go early (basically she screwed us over because, I already gave two weeks and all the arrangements I made for him to start the new daycare were supposed l to be in two weeks) when I tried to talk to her she refused to keep him two weeks and she gave us only 4 days to stay at the center!! I've never met such a rude person in my life. She's a very unhappy person and she should not be running a daycare center At all! I don't recommend this daycare to my worse enemy, now I drive 10 min to get to the new daycare and we couldn't be any happier with it. read more

I do not know how this company continues to operate under the guise that they are a faith based-organization. I was hired around late September of this year and fired by early October 2017 due to failed work performance. I am walking around the Executive Director daily; she never once pulled me to the side about work-related issues. Additionally, I was still in training. Now people can run there company as they wish but to informally dismiss someone via telephone through your assistant seems unscrupulous. You win applicants with the false advertisement of career opportunity and stability only to fire them. Had I known about their deceptive and cutthroat tactics; I would have stayed at my previous employer of 5 years. If you are not in the clique or likened by the seasoned employees; I believe you will not last long. The Director at the Chardon location in my perception does not want to pay people. Here I had experience with an undergrad degree and she still came up with a menial wage. They do not clearly define your job title; they float continuously which should be broached upon new hire. I was told that I would be hired for pre-school and was placed in another classroom with an unpleasant and negative lead teacher. I was told you are not an official staff member because you have not had orientation. I never received a projected date for orientation. They frown upon family emergencies and work atmosphere is toxic. Team members/teachers aren't affable or helpful during training but haste in reporting to the hire up for your dismissal. I came to work and get extensive training. It did not pan out that way unfortunately. read more
