What a beautiful organization Martha's Table is!…read more Martha's Table provides access to healthy meals, fresh produce, and offers education programs for communities. We have an ongoing partnership where bags of groceries are delivered to our families - they're filled to the brim with fresh produce and items that can help create a healthy and a balanced meal. There are volunteering opportunities and other ways that you can get involved and give back. The staff here are super friendly and welcoming, and the organization runs like a well-oiled machine - super efficient and on point! Thank you, Martha's Table, for existing! +volunteering opportunities available! +friendly staff

[Part of Giving Tuesday 2019]…read more I can only write from the perspective of a volunteer/donor, but Martha's Table seems to have a strong mission towards helping children and families in the DC area. Our class wanted to organize a clothing/food drive, and Martha's Table seemed to have the most bang for your buck. You can always donate in liquid like every other organization, but not as feasible for someone on the student lifestyle. There's plenty of drop-off locations for clothing and baby items across the city. If you can give food items like canned and dried goods, you gotta go to their Maycroft location on Columbia Rd NW. Easy to just reserve a 15-minute appointment on their website and drop off our load. I see their trucks all around the city serving the community - here's to hoping everyone's littles go a long way.

A nice man came out to my waiting car to gather the other boxes and bags....hey, curb service. It was early Sunday morning, so I was able to slip into the alley for the brief moments to unload. Imagine it's hectic other days, but manageable to drop off. S.O.M.E is real deal help for the community. If you ever worry that your donations wind up with a bargain hunter who resells, give your useable stuff here. Can't say I've given to them through CFC, but I sure will start doing so after seeing their excellent website. They do it all, and, with a big smile. Thank you S.O.M.E. http://some.org/services/

We entrusted Brandywine Valley ASPCA with our 5-month-old, 8-pound toy poodle, Cali, for her spay…read moresurgery. While the surgery itself appears to have gone well and Cali is doing fine, our experience surrounding her care and the follow-up afterward was deeply disappointing. When checking in, we were specifically asked whether Cali needed any vaccines. We clearly said no. The front desk staff even told us that her records indicated she did not need a rabies vaccine, as she had received her final rabies vaccination just three weeks earlier. When we picked Cali up, we were shocked to learn that she had been given another rabies vaccine anyway and that we had been charged for it. Mistakes can happen, but what has been most frustrating is what happened afterward. We asked to speak with a manager before leaving and were told none was available. Over the following week, we called four separate times and spoke with two receptionists, Emily and Beta, requesting a call from Crystal or Barbara. Despite being assured our concerns would be passed along, no one has ever returned our calls. ASPCA did offer us a credit for the cost of the unnecessary vaccine-$30, but we respectfully requested a reimbursement instead. To date, we have received neither a reimbursement nor any communication from management. We would have appreciated a simple phone call, an acknowledgment of the mistake, and a reasonable effort to resolve the issue.
