I love to support other women in business, particularly one who offers the kind of stuff I am into. This quaint shop is in my neighborhood, which is so cool. I consider all of the businesses in the neighborhood special, it is not a terribly busy area. I admire their drive, economic contribution and good energy that they bring to the area. I had intentions on stopping by the shop. I'd previously purchased things from the owner as a vendor at an event I attended. However, I had never stopped by. Saturday, I saw an event posted on Facebook that was held there, it seemed interesting, so I dropped in. My experience with Yvette happened a month ago now, but I was using this time to reflect and gather myself before posting a review. Yvette was supposed to officiate my wedding on June 12, 2021. We booked her almost a year beforehand and everything seemed great at the initial meeting. She was pretty cold and distant at first, but quickly warmed up and we had a great conversation. My husband, my mother, and I were all very happy and excited to work with her. I never had Yvette's personal phone number, just her shop number and email. I reached out to her multiple times leading up to the wedding to make sure everything was fine and to see if she needed anything from me. She was very kind and told me that everything was right on track and to not worry about anything. She informed me that she couldn't make it to the rehearsal, but would be at the wedding early to run through things with us. The day of my wedding comes and everyone is scrambling to get ready. The ceremony was scheduled to start at 2pm and Yvette had told me that she would be there by 12:30pm. I lost track of time and didn't even think to check on my officiant. My wedding party was carted over to the ceremony site while my father and I remained in the house, waiting for our call to come down. As we are waiting, the event coordinator asked me when my officiant would be there. He had people searching the crowd for her, the parking lot, the reception location, everywhere. My husband called me from the ceremony site telling me that Yvette was nowhere to be found and everyone was spiraling out of control. He managed to get all of our waiting guests under the shade of the trees while I figured out what to do. Since I did not have her personal phone number, I called the shop. A man answered and told me that she had left almost 2 hours ago to come to my wedding. He said that he would call her and see what was going on and that he would call me back if he couldn't get ahold of her. So I waited another 20 minutes but heard nothing. Nothing from Yvette. Nothing from the shop. I then received word from the coordinator that 3 of my guests had gotten ordained online and my husband's cousin, who is a judge, was ready to marry us. I decided to stop waiting around on Yvette and get married. Almost 40 minutes later than my ceremony was scheduled for. After the ceremony, we took photos and I repeatedly told my bridal party that I hoped Yvette was alright, I was afraid something terrible had happened to her. Then I received the email in the attached picture. At 3:30pm. An hour and a half after my wedding was scheduled for. That's all that was said to me, no further explanations. Needless to say, I would not recommend Yvette or her shop to anyone. She left me and my husband scrambling on our wedding day. Had me worried that she was in a ditch somewhere on the side of the road. She was cold upon our first meeting. She obviously does not care about her customers or the fact that she is in a service industry. Don't trust this woman or her business. I'm assuming you reported my Google review since it is no longer appearing there. But in regards to the recent response by Yvette's husband to my review on Google, I had black family members and black friends join us at our wedding celebration and not a single one of them had any sort of problems. The wedding was for a family of wiccans who happened to be some of the most liberal, Democratic people you can find. Just because the demographic of a city you had to drive through made you uncomfortable, does not mean that the event or the family you were going to meet with has those same beliefs. Keep in mind, my wedding wasn't even in Fowlerville, Michigan, you just had to drive through that to get to my wedding venue. And I'm having a hard time understanding what my cousin marrying us has to do with my review? My cousin was there in attendance because she is my cousin and she just so happens to be a Macomb county judge so she could marry us. However, I hired Yvette for her services because she offered what we were looking for. We did not want a normal state union or any sort of Christian belief systems in our ceremony. read more

I met a woman in a coffee shop one morning who smelled incredible. My friend and I asked what she had on, she said it was the handmade rose shea butter from MotownWitch. It wasn't too strong or too sweet, but in a store filled with the scent of coffee, the shea butter reached my nose like a love spell. My friend and I went straight there. Ms. Yvette was welcoming and we had a great time talking to her. She has a ton of herbs and other practical spiritual items for a wide array of manifestation work. I called this place and they were rude to the point I would never go in there. If your goal is to vibrate higher and connect with good energy then you don't want to get anything from this place. I had been looking for a new botánica to go to when I moved to detroit for ALL my needs and Motown Witch has everything & more babe! There is an amazing selection of candles for every need, oils, herbs, and washes. Even though I moved away recently, whenever im in the city I make sure to stock up on what I need here. Amazing energy my favorite botánica in Michigan for sure! Service was great! The owner & her son they were helpful, knowledgeable, and accommodating. Prices are great here too. As a mama I greatly appreciate that they don't allow children in the shop maybe partly because of the nature of some of the items used in rootwork and sexually explicit candles (which I LOVE as a Scorpio). I saw some reviews complaining about the no children policy but this is extremely wonderful for the protection of children and also to keep the shop in order. Props to y'all for making boundaries and sticking to them! Keep the babies at home LOL! You have to respect the businesses you are walking into! 18&up vibes and I love that! I drove all the way to your store to support and buy some supplies and I wasn't allowed in because I had an arm baby! No, where on your Instagram page or on Yelp does it say no children are allowed. First, it's all highway to get to the place where this bride got married. Fowlerville has nothing to do with this wedding. The staff are super friendly! This shop carries items you can't just find in any modern fluffy metaphysical shop. Their incense is absolutely fabulous and they carry many wonderful candles!
