Although I won't knock them for a single occurrence, thus far. Especially given the exceptionally friendly and helpful service I received. The one (1) strange bit in reference to organization is, there are two (2) separate stores in the Barnes Crossing location. One (1) is largely women's, cosmetics, etc. The other, men's, luggage, etc. It's strange given both are marked with simple Belk's signage on the outside, with no clear demarcation as to which store it is you're walking into (from the outside).

When we went to check out, the cashier looked at the book, and immediately walked over to say something quietly to a man behind the counter. She looked at us strangely and rang the book up. After returning home, I realized that she charged us 3 times the amount listed on the sticker!! At no point did she mention this AT ALL. I couldn't believe it, and I am so upset. Low and behold they called us that very night concerned and helped us find the missing piece. I've been wanting a candle from The Oxford Candle Company for a while. They're soy candles poured into pretty little pottery dishes that I can use after the candle is gone. I looked online as we were traveling through the area and found that they're sold here, so we took a slight detour. It was well worth driving a couple of miles off the highway! By the way, the candles are about $20, offered in a variety of scents and pottery dishes, and they're very fragrant. Walking in, the first thing that I noticed in the window, was they have a huge selection of shabby chic picture frames that my sister would love. Upon entering, the first thing that caught my eye was all of the pottery. They carry Etta B, Fingerprint, and maybe a few other kinds, but those are enough. As I'm scoping out the candles - Oxford Candles and Aromatique (my favorite), an employee walks up and informs us that everything in the store is 20%-50% off, except for the Earth Grace and Ronaldo jewelry. Wait, what?! Did he just say Earth Grace? That's my other weakness. Needless to say, my husband panicked. I picked out a few things and continued to browse the boutique baby clothes that would be so precious on my little niece, the collegiate items that would be great for your tent in the Grove, and the huge selection of jewelry. I could literally spend several hours and thousands of dollars in this store. The prices are very reasonable for what you're getting, the staff is helpful and friendly, and the selection is fabulous whether you're shopping for yourself or a gift. The only things that could make this store better is if they threw away all the Mississippi State junk and moved the shop to the Alabama Coast. Love this place!!!

With the…read morerecent decline of department store and mall closures I expected to see limited merchandise, but I was pleasantly surprised. I received a $50 JCPenney gift card for Christmas, but shortly after the first of the year the Huntsville, AL JCPenney closed and I didn't have an opportunity to use my gift card. I really liked the merchandise selection and they had all sizes at the Tupelo store. I was able to quickly find what I wanted in my size and desired colors. So I would give 4 stars for the store and merchandise. The check-out process was not so great. It took forever to checkout, not because they were busy but because the JCPenney checkout process is atrocious. It took three cashiers to finally check me out and the card swipe process because I was using a gift card is horrible. I almost gave up and walked out. So I would give the personnel and check out process 2 stars. So 4 stars and 2 stars average to be 3 stars.
