I felt it important to write a review to offset all the negatives! I had a great experience with Easirent at Glasgow Airport. Though it was inconvenient to catch the shuttle to their car pickup (which their car yard is a bit offputting when you get there because it is in a gravel lot full of potholes and in an industrial area) the staff was very kind. The desk attendant was very distraught that I would not purchase car insurance (I use Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card that provides primary coverage up to $75k) but let me take the car anyway. Upon drop off of car, they did not point out any new scratches. The shuttle driver was awesome! I reserved my Easirent car through Expedia and it stated I would pay $103.64 for a week rental of a compact car. I was, however, charged two amounts on the day I picked up the car. I was charged $101.42 from Easirent Glasgow and $120.54 from easirent.com. I was refunded $119.94 after car drop off so paid less than what Expedia anticipated (obviously exchange rate had something to do with it). No surprise charges like Hertz charged me the week before when I was in Ireland ($7 a day mandatory liability insurance that wasn't part of the reservation quote)! read more

DO NOT BOOK HERE. It's expensive (they overcharged for no reason) and the service is ridiculously bad. We booked a car online Fiat 500 3DR (Manual) or similar. Upon arrival we were charged extra fee for some insurance we didn't want but HAD to take. And then, they told us our car was not available so we'll have to get (at the same price) a commercial vehicle. Of course we had no other choice than to accept as they told us this AFTER we paid everything. They refused to give us a full refund even if they couldn't provide the service we paid for. This is a pure SCAM. The vehicle was in disgusting conditions and hadn't been cleaned at all. We had to demand that the car got cleaned up, and therefor had to wait for them to clean it up and receive the vehicle hours later than planned (it was for a day trip.) This was my worst experience with a rental company. Well it's more a scam company than an actual company. Avoid it. read more

Have a £79 rental. I am told in the UK, I cannot deny rental insurance, even as I explained I had car rental insurance through my credit card. Must purchase at least a £189 car insurance policy, which I am told covers everything but tires and glass. This voids my credit card insurance. I harass them enough to actually have them let me see the policy. It covers nothing but some types of damage to the outside of the car, not including the undercarriage or roof. Unfortunately they have transported me far from the airport, my phone and internet do not work (I am from the US), and I essentially have no other options for other rentals and I will have to pay the majority of the cost for the rental car. read more

NOT AN HONEST COMPANY! This is the first negative review of my life & I am not young. This was the worst car rental experience of my life. Actually, it has been the worse business experience of my life. I rented a car in the UK (Luton branch) & I paid for a 4 month rental upfront & also paid $1,708 (a lot of money) so I would be covered by CDW with a deductible of $195. 2 weeks into my 119 day rental, I had a relatively small accident. Nobody was injured & the other vehicle had a scratch. My rental vehicle had bumper damage & had to be towed. After the accident (on a Sunday), I could not reach Easirent by phone although I tried at least a dozen times. It then took 3 days to receive a response from them - an email from their Midlands general manager. That email, confirmed later by a call from me, stated that I would receive no money back nor would they give me a replacement car. I paid $4,835 for a 119 day rental & had the car for only 14 days. Easirent then refused to give me a replacement or any refund whatsoever although I had purchased CDW from them with an excess of $195. I was told that this is standard procedure but it is not the procedure of any other rental company. I was told that it was in there contract but I cannot find it anywhere in the contract I signed. They have not responded to any further inquiries from me seeking an explanation. I should have been charged for 14 days or given a replacement vehicle & they were also entitled to the $195 deposit (the amount of the CDW excess). However, $4835 for a 14 day rental when I was covered by their insurance is totally dishonest. read more

Summary: Between inaccurate information, unfair fuel policies, hidden charges, and a ludicrous drop-off charges I STRONGLY advise that nobody use this car hire company. Location: They claim to be in Glasgow's Central Station, but are a 25 minute walk from the station. I don't mind a walk, but this might come as an unexpected surprise and I certainly wouldn't classify it as a station rental company. Fuel Policy: You have to either take their over-priced tank of fuel, or buy fuel from the local garage AND PROVE IT with a receipt. I have rented cars all over the world and have never come across this kind of insane requirement. Surely fuel is fuel regardless of where it is bought? I was given a nonsense reason of "it might not be full if you fill it far away" which is fine, but I was also told that they'd not accept it if I "topped off" at the local garage and would require receipts from all garages. This is completely bananas, and made me suspicious of the whole thing, but I proceeded with the hire anyway. Pick up: I was given a car, and told it was "immaculate, not a scratch" but sure enough, when I did my walk around (whilst being hurried by the staff member) I found at least 5 obvious scratches.They clearly wanted me to not inspect properly, or hoped I'd not notice. Drop-off: Upon drop off I was told that one of the aforementioned scratches had happened during my rental. Despite having highlighted it, the first staff member hadn't noted it down and told me "not to worry about that one". The scratch is barely visible, thinner than a human hair, but still they managed to file it under a charge category which saw me paying £260. It's a case of my word against theirs, but this was a serious case of going by the book, even when it was clearly unfair. 1 star is still too much. They hook you in online with what looks like the cheapest daily rentals but it's when you turn up that the reality truly bites... I booked a 4 day hire online from Christmas eve for £120 (with my Visa debit card), all seemed well until they insist i MUST pay the insurance, basic £117, Standard £140 and 'super ease peace of mind don't need to think of nothing' policy of £157. Now, in my history of car hire, i get the option to pay for in-house insurance, it's not mandatory. This wouldn't wash with the guys. Ok then. Next, payment...I can only pay the holding fee with a credit card, not Visa debit. WHAT?! I can pay the rental with Visa debit, but i can't pay the insurance with it? Something real fishy is arising! Me - "I don't own a credit card mate" Easirent guy - "Well you can't book the vehicle then, you need to get someone physically in front of the desk with a credit card (not over the phone) or you'll lose the booking". Me - "What are the consequences of cancelling?" Easirent guy - "You lose 3 days rent equivalent, so £88" Me - "The rental was £117" After frantically phoning a couple of friends, one said they could be there in 15 minutes, i turned and said to the Easirent guy to which he responded... "Mate, we're shut now, i'm going". The end. The morale of the story is... If you want reliable, reputable and cost effective rentals DO NOT EVER GO HERE, THEY WILL FIND A WAY TO FLEECE YOU OF YOUR MONEY. WITHOUT EVEN LEAVING WITH A CAR! ZERO CUSTOMER SERVICE. ZERO CARE. ZERO RATING. You could be forgiven for thinking they are actually incentivised to make you leave without renting anything, like i did today. Gifting them £88 in my example for merely wanting to hire a car. Jeez, Boulevard Of Broken Vans seems light-years ahead of this 'company'. read more
