First off, we love Dr.Handler. He's amazing and the only reason we're still with EBP. And setting up appointments and working with the front office is fine. But Dr. Miller is why I decided to write this review. She was on call when our son was born so we met her in the hospital, and now again today (a year later) when we needed to speak to the on call doctor about an injury my son just had. From that first interaction to this one, Dr. Miller has made us feel like insufficient, blundering parents. Today my son accidentally got hold of a clothes hanger and cut the inside of his mouth. I obviously already feel like a terrible parent, and the questions she asked, and the way she asked them, were so condensing and judgmental ("does he often play with hangers?") it pushes me into an even deeper feeling of insufficiency and guilt and is entirely unhelpful in trying to assess if my child needs additional care. When trying to describe what happened, she asked for pictures and I asked a clarifying question and she laughed at me and responded in a way that made me feel so stupid for asking. She was like this the day he was born as well, trying to push us into make a fast decision on a very important topic that we learned later we actually had weeks to decide on. As a parent, this is the last person I want to answer the phone when I'm at my most vulnerable, panicking about a situation, and need advice. I would not advise working with Dr. Miller. read more

Hi new parents! I love our pediatrician, so let this be an ode to her! Dr. Pickering at East Bay Peds is a great choice for your pediatrician needs. And to add: We've seen a few other doctors from East Bay Peds right after our son was born due to the nature of newborn's doc schedules, and everyone has been so nice. They do have 1 or 2 doctors that do circumcisions (lots of info for ya, right there). Back to Dr. Pickering. She's funny, she's real laid back in the most professional kind of way, she's smart and easy to talk to as a parent. She takes time to answer all our questions, and makes sure to ask us questions. She's far from uptight or reserved and we really like that about her. She's fun! We def are first time parents and have 1000000 & 1 questions every time we see her. Half the time she laughs and tells us we're doing a great job and keep doing it and the other time she elaborates to us what really getting at: what should we be feeding our son? Is there anything we can be doing to make sure he develops the best way possible? Yada yada yada. They're pretty on time. We've never had any problem scheduling an appointment. There's a playground next door. It's a few blocks from Elmwood if we need lunch. They have a 24 hour hot-line with a nurse which I'm not gonna lie: we've called probably about 20x this first year: is his head flat, he has a splinter, why is his butt so red, etc... Overall, we're super happy with East Bay Peds. They are organized, professional, but also so warm and inviting. * I'd like to thank the heavens and stars that be that our son is healthy and we haven't had any issues; I can't tell you how they deal with that or emergencies. read more

To simply change an appointment, you have to go through 2 people and repeating the dates a few times. Only a nurse can do that. Why is it so complicated? In France, it is less expensive and very easy to schedule something. Simple doctors don't even have assistants and handle everything. read more

Our 3-year old daughter banged her foot on the stairs and was limping so we called to get an appointment from the nurse line to get an x-ray. They told us we could get in with a late appointment so my wife drove up to the Berkeley office. Upon arrival, we were told that the tech was ready to sign off for the night, there were 3 people in front of us, and our daughter would not be seen that night. Growing up in a medical family, I understand that doctors and staff are frequently running late, often for reasons out of their control. That said- it's poor practice, poor management, and poor supervision if you allow your staff to accept appointments you cannot honor. read more

Dr Oken has been my 4 yo sons pediatrician since birth and he is phenomenal! When I took my newborn to Dr Miller because Dr Oken was not available that was a huge mistake!! Dr Miller is a joke! I took my son in for a preventative care visit, which is 100% covered by insurance, but she made sure she was going to bill me for something. She literally asked how my baby was doing and I said I believe he has acid reflux because he excessively spits up. She told me to sit him up after he eats instead of lying him flat. 1. We had been doing this , which I told her 2. Common sense taught me that...She billed me for this "advice" and when I complained to the office she said this subject was discussed extensively with me and she's not changing the charge! What!!!! This was petty, unethical and ridiculous! She will never see any one of my children again! So if you must see this lady, be careful at preventative visits. If she ask how your child is doing, just nod and say fine! Unless there's a serious issue! She will find anyway possible to rack in money! read more

We had been quite happy with the medical care our daughter received at East Bay Pediatrics, but a billing mistake on their end (a sudden switch from billing in-network to out of network) has already caused us 5+ hours of unnecessary phone calls. We are both working parents so this is incredibly annoying. Cannot recommend until they fix their processes around this. read more

The doctors are great. However, it's very difficult to make an appointment. Currently, it's not even possible to make an appointment by calling the office. One instead goes through an "Advice Nurse" system. Calling the Advice Nurse line, one just waits on hold for someone to become available. This might be a few minutes or an hour. There used to be a way to leave a message and request a callback, but this option doesn't seem to be available right now. The practice has an online "portal," but one can't use it to request an appointment. Once one is able to actually reach an Advice Nurse, they're great: helpful, knowledgable, and super nice. Interactions with the Berkeley in-person office staff have sometimes been frustrating. I've had better experiences with the Orinda office. I remain loyal because I really like my doctor. I would not recommend the practice to new patients. read more

The doctor we saw here (Dr Pickering) was great with our kids and she was competent and professional! Sometimes she didn't have any appointments available for a few months out but lucky for us she was one of the doctors who was usually on call. I also liked that the office made time in the morning for walk-in appointments when your kids get sick unexpectedly. The problem I have with this office is that they charged me $50 when I had to cancel my son's appointment the same day because I had the stomach flu. Seriously!?! My husband even tried to take off work to go but was unable to and we were very communicative with the office about what was going on. Would they rather I came in and spread a very infectious virus to all the children who visit the office? Having the stomach flu is bad enough but having to pay $50 for no reason just made it all worse. I can't bring myself to go back to this office with this type of service. read more

There are only two problems I have with this practice: ethics and poor medicine and my complaint is with one of the partners, Dr. Mary Jones. On the plus side, Dr. Jones takes a nice, touchy-feely approach with her patients; very good bedside manner. But her medicine is questionable, to say the least. She tends to prescribe antibiotics before determining whether the problem is bacterial or viral. As a result, according to one parent I spoke to, at least one of Dr. Jones' patients developed later in life (teenage years) a resistance to antibiotics that caused problems with some dental work he was having. Perhaps a more serious problem is Dr. Jones' lack of honesty. Several years ago, my ex-wife and I were in court, fighting over legal custody of our two young children, both of whom were patients of Dr. Jones. My ex managed to get Dr. Jones to perjure herself for the benefit of my ex. Perhaps she did it out of meanness, knowing that I would have pulled my kids out of her practice and taken them to someone more careful about her diagnosis. In any case, it was an ugly time and thoroughly destroyed any respect I had for Dr. Jones or her practice. I would much rather preferred Dr. Franks at Berkeley Pediatrics. A great doctor in a great practice. I can't recommend them enough! read more

We went there once pre-birth and 3 times afterwards. You have to wait in average 45 minutes. They don't spent much time per patient. Their advice wasn't helpful. Even the answer of one of our questions consists out of an printout of some internet pages at the next visit. They charged us some stuff what our health insurance didn't cover. I was surprised because we asked before. And even for the pre visit they told us they will refund the payment. It never happened. Terrible. read more

We loved doctor Mary Jones. She even gave her mobile to us if we needed to call her directly !!! She was nice until what happened we have no idea - between me and one of the receptionist after our phone cal about appointment for my kids. My boys were coughing for a long time and Mary Jones gave them allergy medicine and told me to have an appointment after medication finishes. Kids stop coughing, I needed the appointment right away as doctor was asking me to have. This receptionist didn't want to ask to doctor or willing to call me back with sooner options or even she didn't ask me if I want yo be in a waiting lust or do :( I got the appointment when it needed but after this phone experience with this staff- nurse, all staff and the doctors start to be mean to us. They were upset and mean if we call after hours - which you cannot know, when your kid will get worst, when they are sick - :( They constantly push us away every time we needed them and eventually we had to leave this office. When we called for appointment they put us on hold or give us date longer than it could be. We don't know how this staff- nurse pass her experience with me on the phone to the doctor but we are sure she made great story out of it so we all became unwanted to EastBay Pediatrics :( read more

We see Dr. Jennifer Miller at East Bay Pediatrics for our 3 year old son. She is one of the best doctors I have ever had. She is extremely knowledgeable and is very direct and helpful. She has a way of getting my son to interact with her. We had a 'scare' with our son and had to go to Children's to get some tests done. It was nice that she had solid relationships with the doctors there as she served as Chief Resident there. We love her. She's awesome. If you want the best, go to East Bay Pediatrics! read more

Raising a young child is an endeavor unlike anything else. It is both wonderful and dreadful. When the dreadful part comes (your little one is sick) if your pediatrician is east bay pediatrics, you get to talk to somebody very kind and knowledgeable, even late at night, even on a Sunday. We returned to the Bay Area to have our second child, and were so grateful to use Dr. Richard Oken and East Bay Pediatrics for our care. Their two offices (Berkeley and Orinda) provided convenient options for us, and from our first consult to inpatient rounding to well baby visits, the care was always well-coordinated and solid. The large office staff is down to earth and great to work with. The entire practice seems very well established. They have been doing this a long time and know what works! For scheduled visits, we saw our primary every time. During and right after our hospital stay we saw four different docs in the practice, and preferred some over others, but they were all fine. We also utilized their after hours care and received invaluable phone advice and reassurance. (The only room for improvement I see is extending after hours/weekend care a bit. We dreaded having to brave the hectic Saturday AM Berkeley clinic!) Dr. Oken himself is a gem. Highly competent and experienced with personalized bedside manner, we deeply valued his rich expertise when navigating the murky waters of having a new baby. He encouraged us to get in touch at any time and welcomed all questions. We were extremely well cared for by him. Thank you, EBP, for such a solid experience! read more

THANK YOU DR. MILLER! Our little girl Serafina is two and a half. When we traveled to Italy last year she had had one MMR vaccine shot and Dr. Miller recommended that we give her another one out of sequence before the trip. Heads were spinning given all the negative press about the vaccine, but we trust Dr. Miller with everything, so we took her advice. Thank Goddess we did! Measles outbreak in the Infernetto, a suburb of Rome where my wife's parents live. Their next door neighbor has five kids and DOESN'T vaccinate! Holy stupid! We got the talk when we first went there: If you're not into a regimen of vaccination, we don't want your business. Vaccination is part of our core value system. Well, I'm a pro-vax dad, and my wife is an immunologist, so we were on board, but never have we had it be so apparent as now why it's so important. Thank you Dr. Miller and EBP! In other news: The drop-in set-up for evenings and weekends has helped us many times. Their doctors are all on the same page, using technology to be sure that if your child sees another doctor in the group all medical knowledge is available to that person. The support staff, nurses, clerks, etc, are a diverse, caring and wonderful group. Always caring, kind, and soothing. In the classic tradition, your kid gets to choose a prize toy from the treasure chest at the end of each visit, which always brings a smile and reinforces your kid's memory of the doctor visit as a good thing, even on shot days! read more

The business office and interactions regarding insurance at East Bay Pediatrics is absurdly broken. The "front office" staff did not properly communicate the information I provided them to their business office and then to my health insurance provider. I have spent countless hours correcting the problems in coordination with my health insurance provider, who has (like me) had an incredibly hard time contacting anyone who can provide any clarity regarding their billing procedures or efforts to actually send the correct information to the health insurance company. East Bay's business office support hours are terrible, everyone you speak to directs you to someone else or passes the buck, and they keep inconsistent records of previous conversations regarding billing. If i listened to east bay I'd have already payed hundreds of dollars for things that were ultimately covered in full. I still have bills that are oustanding that they are sending to collections even though they are in the process of being paid. I hope to never waste this much time with an incompetent business office again. read more

I give Dr. Tracy Evans-Ramsey ("Dr. Tracy") five stars. She sees both my kids and all my friends' kids. She's incredibly caring, thoughtful, helpful, and flexible. She never makes me feel like my questions are stupid, and she's been agreeable to a delayed vaccine schedule (my kids get all their shots, just not 4 in one visit; usually break it up to 2 in one visit, and then the other 2 a month or so later). My son actually wants to go with me when I take his little sister to the office, because he just loves seeing Dr. Tracy. But I give the practice itself four stars because every single time except one that I've called the on-call doctor (which trust me, I try not to do; my sister is a pediatrician and she tells me how much being on call sucks), the on call doctor has responded to my questions with condescension and almost anger. Look, I'm sorry if I wake you up at 11:30 pm on a Saturday night to ask you about my infant's 104 degree fever, hacking cough, and rag-doll like demeanor. But I'm pretty sure you're compensated for these calls. And having a sick infant who can't tell you what's wrong is very scary for a parent, especially in the middle of the night. So suck it up and see if you can strap on a little bed side manner for a few minutes. Half the time, parents are calling you more out of fear than out of there being a real medical emergency for their child. If you don't like dealing with frightened parents, then maybe being a pediatrician isn't the right gig for you. But beyond the really crappy on-call doctor experiences, their daytime advice nurses are AWESOME. They are extremely supportive, empathetic, and helpful, and they take a preventative stance on getting kids in for a same day appointment. At our old pediatric practice in the city, I had to practically lie and exaggerate my kid's symptoms in order to get him seen within 24 or 48 hours. So I appreciate that East Bay Pediatrics does their best to accommodate same day appointments. We're very happy overall with East Bay Pediatrics and would recommend it. read more

I wish I could give negative stars for my experience here. As new parents searching for a great pediatrician was my number one priority. When I was interviewing for pediatricians I found East Bay Pediatrics and called and asked all of the proper questions, including if they supported a delayed vaccination schedule which I was told they were "fully supportive of". This was clearly a lie, at our two month appointment we were told to find a new pediatrician and they would arrange our discharge paperwork. The tone was it's our way or no way and we had two weeks to decide and we could only stay on if we did the vaccinations they deemed necessary at 2 months. Additionally at the time of delivery we made the decision to decline any newborn medications, a personal decision and every parent needs to do what is right for their child, not with this group. 10 minutes after delivering my child I was greeted in recovery, I did not ask to have any pediatrician come to the recovery room and once again was strong armed into changing my mind. This is 10 minutes after a C section and after signing all waivers with the hospital to decline medications. I was sick from the anesthesia and again told my decision was wrong and the pediatrician went as far as asking me where I got my information from and gave me a dissertation on her credentials and that I was wrong for a variety of reasons. I literally wanted the entire experience to end so I gave in, a decision I am still to this day highly uncomfortable with, I then received a $360 bill for this. I would highly think twice before bringing your children here, the belief in their practice is their way is the only way and if you don't comply then hit the road. read more

Dr. Miller gets 5 STARS The office gets 1... Let me explain.... Our daughter was a preemie and speaking with some of the nurses in the NICU, Dr. Miller came HIGHLY recommended as a pediatrician! We checked our insurance and she was in our network! Excellent!!! We called the registration line who told us that their office didn't accept our insurance. Huh? So I re-checked and called back, and our daughter was REGISTERED with no problem! I'm not a huge fan of the Berkeley office. It's a little cramped and a couple of the administrative workers have rubbed my husband and I the wrong way. Our "troublesome" insurance was incorrectly entered and we were billed for co-payments when we were clearly not supposed to be. Wow! After all of that, we finally met Dr. Miller. She was AMAZING! Cheerful, insightful and our daughter took to her immediately. I'm a little bummed out because her office will NOT be renewing their contract with my primary insurance in a couple months. I will miss Dr. Miller greatly! We are still sticking it out until the contract expires in a couple months... that's how great of a pediatrician Dr. Miller is! read more

I would give them a "0" star if there is an option for it. I'm writing this review to warn parents against East Bay Pediatrics. While I liked Dr. Vo, I'm very dissatisfied with poor communication, poor customer service, and insane office fees that nickel and dime parents. First issue: I called EBP to get instructions on how to get a daycare physician's report filled-out for my son. I was instructed to fax in the request, which I did. The following week, I get a call informing me it was ready for pick-up at the office, when I requested in writing that it be mailed to me. I called and asked that it be mailed to me, and got confirmation that it would. Then, I get a call saying there is a $10 fee for the form. Additionally, I was told that "you have to pay this in order to get the form." So, I gave them my credit card information and was charged $10. Second issue: I get a call from Dr. Vo because I was going to Berkeley Pediatrics as I did not like what happened. I was told the $10 fee was waived, yet I was charged and never got a refund. Third issue: I faxed in a request to get my son's medical record forwarded to Berkeley Pediatrics. I get a call saying there is a .25 cent fee for each page, unless I get a summary, which would included everything. The conservation went something like this: "There is a .25 cent fee for each page if you want the full record, otherwise, it is a summary and there is no fee. Since your son is under two, we would send everything." So, my question: "What are your telling me? Is there a fee or are you sending his records without a fee?" After hanging up, I'm left not knowing if there is a fee or not. Summary: I have seen many doctors and have had my own records forwarded to other offices and have never encountered a fee for it. This is the first time in my life, where a doctor's office is attempting to charge a fee. I recommend you AVOID this office, because they need to improve staff training and reconsider their nickel and dime policy. Save yourself the headache and go to another office. read more

We've been going to East Bay Pediatrics for almost nine years now, ever since our first child was born. Throughout this time, we've received very caring, nurturing attention from Dr. Myles Abbott. He has been very thorough in examining our two children, spotting some real health issues quite early, and recommending good follow up. He's an excellent listener, and very funny and silly with the children, which is great as it makes it a much easier sell to go in for their check-ups and other appointments! Dr. Abbott has been very prompt in calling us back with any concerns we've had--whether around one of our children's allergies, or to follow up on some tricky, unexplained symptoms. I really appreciate that Dr. Abbott views us parents as partners: he isn't one of those authoritarian doctors who are set in their ways, but is very willing to listen to our thoughts as partners in our children's health, and takes time to get to know us. He's readily willing to give referrals to other specialists when needed, and has been very thoughtful in putting us in touch with other highly-skilled physicians when we needed specialized follow-up--all of which were also great providers of care, with deep knowledge and good bedside manners. The support and customer service by the office have also been great throughout our nine years with them. We appreciate the extended hours and weekend service, as well as the advice nurse that is available to talk with so you can triage whether a trip to the office is really needed. Just this week I had an excellent experience with their new, extended after-hours urgent care service: I needed to get a new prescription issued late at night for an ongoing issue, and the after-hours nurse promptly called me back, got in touch with Dr. Abbott who was on call, and got the prescription to our pharmacy at 11:30 pm, making sure the pharmacy actually had the medication, then called us right back. Throughout, the people I talked with were friendly and supportive--even though it was very late at night. I have read some of the bad Yelp reviews of this practice, and they prompted me to write: if you want caring doctors who partner with you, and a medical office who puts in place practices to support good customer service, do check out East Bay Pediatrics. read more

She's been our son's pediatrician for the past three years, and there is no one we trust more when it comes to our child's health and well-being. My family and I are very pleased with our selection of East Bay Pediatrics for our son. While Dr. Evans-Ramsey is our primary Physician, we have also seen Dr. Vo, Dr. Charles-Mo, and Dr. Handelsman. Everyone has been extremely friendly and professional. We love that they are a large practice with ten doctors and two locations to choose from, which means that making a last minute appointment has been very easy for us. They have other excellent services such as an advice nurse phone line and morning/Saturday drop-in hours for sick children. read more

I took my children here for 3 years. Our primary doctor was Dr. Evans-Ramsey, who was absolutely wonderful! We seen her regularly but we also had great experiences with Dr.Abbott as well. Unfortunately front office staff lacks. I've never had any direct bad experiences with them but they always seem so unhappy and unfriendly. My last 2 experiences at East Bay Pediatrics explains why. I was in the office back in the Summer last year waiting to be called back with my daughter when a father trying to get a form was unhappy about not being able to have it signed on the spot and threw a receipt at the receptionist, a doctor walked by and said nothing. I just figured they would discuss later although she should've stepped in right at that moment or brought a manager out to deal with it. The last experience I had, I witnessed a mom slap the receptionists hand! There was a doctor present at that time as well and she did nothing. I came to pick up a note for my daughter a couple weeks ago and that same mom was still being seen at the practice. That is unacceptable. No wonder the staff isn't friendly, they have no help. I left 2 messages for the office manager and haven't heard anything back. read more

The office management at EBP and Carol in particular is unresponsive and unprofessional. The doctors, on the other hand, are wonderful. My mother worked and retired from Alta Bates Hospital after 30 years. She brought both my younger brother and I to see Dr. Rhea throughout my childhood at East Bay Pediatrics. After my son was born in 2001 I began bringing him to see Dr. Rhea until he retired. We continued to bring our son for his wellness appointments, check ups, etc because they replaced him with another fine doctor that we really liked. Unfortunately in 2008, my son's father, who was an Alameda County probation officer was killed. We lost the insurance that we had and the billing department at EBP gave us an extremely hard time over a bill that was not paid that fell between the cracks when our insurance ended. I was made to go back and forth with the insurance department and the billing manager in circles trying to work out this ONE bill. I was suffering from the loss of my husband and trying to take care of sorting out this tragedy and got no empathy or help from the EBP billing department. For this reason they "dismissed (me) with no exception" and ended a long, generational relationship with my family and this practice but never explained that to me. Recently I got new insurance and decided that I would try to call the office manager. I called and spoke with the receptionist but couldn't reach Carol. I left her two messages to call me back hoping that we could talk and repair our misunderstandings, but she never did. Then, I did receive a message from the billing department saying that they would help me get added back into the system so of course I was very happy. When I returned that phone call, I was sadly disappointed to be told that they had made a mistake and that, in fact, that they could not add me back to their system and see my son. I still don't know why Carol won't take the time to respond to my calls. Sad. read more

We've been with these guys for over a decade. They don't always get it right, but usually do. While the practice (which has multiple doctors, most of whom are good, some of whom are ok, and one of whom was a disaster, but apparently isn't there anymore anyway) gets 4-stars from us, Dr. Marcia Charles-Mo gets 5-stars. She's like a country doctor in that she's very practical and down to earth. Yet her knowledge is solid and up-to-date. She's been there for us, and has demonstrated a genuine care for our children. We couldn't have asked for better. read more

Have mixed feeling about this place. The horror of seeing one of the doctors just plying open my child's mouth after declaring what kind of a kid my child was is still vivid. My kid cried for a while. Although this event does not define my family's overall experience with other doctors, that is the first thing I remember when I hear East Bay Pediatrics. We only visited East Bay Pediatrics twice, because we ended up having to change our baby's health insurance coverage to Kaiser Permanente. However, I wanted to write a review to say that even in those two visits we were really impressed and our experience at East Bay Pediatrics was awesome! We saw Dr. Christina Vo, and liked her very much. She was friendly and knowledgeable and gave us some great tips for soothing our infant. She was also really good at handling him and doing the exam without upsetting him too much. Also, I didn't even realize how awesome this was until we went somewhere that didn't have it, but they have padded countertops to put your baby on during the exam, which is WAY better than trying to do the infant exam on a regular medical bed like for an adult (that's what happened at Kaiser). This review is about 17 years overdue but each year would only receive 10+ in excellence. My daughter is 18 and has been a patient of Richard Oken since she was six months old. We have lived in SF, Sonoma and Marin and have always kept Dr. Oken as her primary and only physician. Why? Just yesterday, I called for same day appt. as late as possible in Berkeley which was granted and Dr. Vo spent nearly an hour with us. Diagnosis was ulcerated tonsil but to be safe strep and mono test were done. Dr. Oken called first thing this am to see how his patient was doing and we agreed to check in tomorrow for test results. Dr. Vo called two hours later with lab results and a further check in. This simply does not exist in today's medical world sadly. This team is without question the BEST medically and with compassion. They still do things the old fashion way with amazing care and can do, over the top results. That is today's review. Over the last 17 years, Dr. Oken was shepharded us through tubercular meningitis, asthma, concussions, hyper mobility and shoulder dislocations, 18 months of severe whiplash, appendicitus and all with one child. We love EBP! We use Dr. Handelsman and we love her. She is not only well qualified, but is very sweet to. She works with our parenting choices and never makes us feel stupid for asking even the silliest of questions. Plus, our daughter loves her, which seems like it really should be the most important thing. I also like that they call to remind you of appointments which is nice for us forgetful new moms. The front staff and nurses are all super friendly and easy to work with. They don't have a seperatw sick room, but quickly get you into rooms so that's really not an issue. You're never left to wait and be around other, possibly sick kids. I would highly reccomend EBP, especially Dr. Handelsman, for new parents. read more

As a Nurse Practitioner approaching motherhood 24 years ago, my husband and I were careful in choosing a pediatrician. We interviewed Dr. Charles-Mo at East Bay Peds and over the years have never doubted that choice. The whole practice, from office RNs, front desk and bookkeeping staff, as well as the other doctors we've consulted through the years supported us in making good choices with and for our daughters. "Dr. Marcia" has been a trusted consultant and role model, and yes, a friend as the decades roll by. This practice is up to date and I've never had trouble getting an appointment when the need arises. That East Bay Peds has grown to include so many well-educated/trained physicians may seem testimony enough but my healthy, happy daughters -- who know they could call Dr. Marcia with questions - seal the deal. read more

I know in pediatrics that managing crazy parents is a huge portion of the job, so it behooves me to let the team know how grateful I have been for their work and responsiveness in dealing with our situation. My daughter has severe eczema and anaphylactic allergic responses to a number of things. As young first time parents, both locations of east bay pediatrics has been essential in educating and supporting our journey. They have always seen us promptly on numerous emergency visits, made and followed-up with referrals, and the doctors always call me afterwards to make sure everything is ok. I've seen Doctors Abbott, Oken and Cahn Handelsman who have all been superb. Both my husband and I are healthcare providers and have been nothing but impressed by the experience, CV, and service of all our physicians. My two sons are seeing Dr. Myles Abbott and they love him. Well, I have to admit that I like him a lot too. This is the pediatrician you hope for and wish for your kids. His personality is very funny and he always manages to make even the sickest kid smile. He listens VERY well, always explains the details of his diagnosis and treatment options. He came in highly recommended by our fantastic pediatrician in San Francisco (Dr. Brock Bernsten) who we sadly had to leave when we moved to Berkeley. However, Dr. Myles Abbott totally meets our expectations! I also have to say that the day time advise nurses are the best: Friendly, sympathizing, knowledgeable and always anxious to get your child into the office within the next few hours. I had to call several times last week for two sick children and got to see our doctor within two hours each time. I am so happy with the office I would give more starts if I could! read more
