Because it is new, a good 25% of their stuff is still in boxes or teetering perilously. I'll visit again in a couple of weeks to see if it has better handicapped access. No A/C. Stuffy. The assortment of curio cabinets, china cabinets, and shelving up front is very well organized and easy to see, BUT if you like to poke, rummage, sort, dig, dive and tunnel - this is your new paradise! There are lots of picture frames and actual artwork (mostly prints, some originals), a plethora of crystal vases/dishes/glassware, hundreds of little decorative bears and animals (Boyd's? not my area of expertise). Some of the china is in sets and labeled with its type/setting/collection (?). The store is loosely organized by area - furniture, crystal, art, Christmas, tools, crafts, books, music, etc. The biggest category right now is STUFF. Against the back wall (trade X damage to get there) is fabric and crafts, to the right of that is books, and to the left is Christmas items. The tool & hardware area is dangerous wasteland full of sharp items arranged for maximum lethality. Hardhat required for your safety (not really, but if you have one, wear it). There are fishing poles, recip saws, circular saws, tons of wrenches (no wenches), hammers, and pliers, etc. The middle of the store is a mish-mash under the category of EVERYTHING ELSE. If you have a high tolerance for dust and must, you could spend hours poking around. I have dug around the best (and worst) thrift shops in the area, and this was too much for my tolerance. Considering I have endured places that smelled of compressed dead rats (now out of business, thank God), I could deal with the best of them. However, this one defeated me quickly. Why did I rate it highly? Because I am gracious in awarding extra stars for cool stuff in new places that I hope will finish unpacking and run an air purifier for a decade. Give me a month or so, then check back for an updated review. Until then, enter at your own risk.

The Daily Thrift has multiple rooms packed floor to ceiling with treasures. Everything over $1 was 50 percent off when I visited. They sell bags, home goods, collectibles, shoes, small appliances, clothes, jewelry, art, and tons of other things. They had a whole hallway of cool vintage toys. Some of the more unusual things I spotted were a suit of Spanish armor and all of the medals a marathoner won in his many races. I ended up spotting an entire shelf of the Royal Rose pattern of my grandmothers China that I inherited so the friendly owner and I made a deal and I took two boxes home. Someday soon I will be able to throw a dinner party for 100. I was sorely tempted to take home a few other things but I don't think I have the room to display them the way they deserve. If you love treasure hunting, add Daily Thrift to your list.

Jordan along with Habitat founders Millard and Linda Fuller developed the concept of partnership housing. Those in need of shelter would work side by side with volunteers to build affordable homes at no profit. House payments would be combined with no interest loans provided by supporters which would then be used to build more homes. In 1973, the Fullers took their house building concept to Zaire where they worked for three years. They then returned to the United States and founded Habitat for Humanity International in 1976. President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn became involved and raised awareness. Habitat is now in all 50 states in the U.S. and in more than 70 countries. They have helped 29 million people be able to afford safe shelter. In 1991 Habitat for Humanity launched the concept of the ReStore in Winnipeg, Canada. In 1992 the first Habitat for Humanity restore opened in the U.S. in Austin Texas. The ReStores accept donations from the community and home improvement stores and then resells the items to the public at a discounted price. The profit from the ReStore supports the local Habitat for Humanity affiliate. This store in Palm Bay is part of the Space Coast Habitat for Humanity. They have helped 575 families in 37 years and they are designated as a Veteran Build affiliate serving the veterans in the community. They support programs for home ownership and home preservation through zero-interest mortgages, volunteer labor, and community support. I love supporting Habitat for Humanity and stop in the thrift stores whenever I can. This store was large and clean with a mixture of new and gently used items. They had furniture, home goods, home improvement items, and more. My favorite find was a vintage Capodimonte porcelain mirror vanity with perfume bottle. If you have any home improvement projects on the horizon, I encourage you to check them out.

They operate one main no kill animal shelter for adoptions and four Molly Mutt Thrift Shops that provide financial support to the organization. They also run a Spay and Neuter Clinic, a low cost clinic to provide affordable health care options, and the Heavenly Paws Chapel to provide compassionate care to those who have lost a pet. During a recent visit to Palm Bay, I was able to visit Molly Mutt IV. They also have locations in Melbourne, Rockledge, and Merritt Island. The store was clean and well organized. During my visit they were having a sale on handbags. Other items they sell include clothes, home goods, collectibles, holiday decorations, furniture, books, records, silver, toys, jewelry, pet supplies, and more. There are two full rooms to explore. I love any charity that helps animals. I found the prices to be fair and the proceeds go to a wonderful charity. Please consider donating to and shopping at Molly Mutt.

My husband and I recently brought quilts and drapes to donate. They were packed in plastic…read morecontainers that we wanted to keep, so we drove around to the back as instructed. Unfortunately, the donation area required carrying everything up a flight of steps, which is very difficult for us. I knocked on the door to ask for assistance. The woman who answered seemed irritated that I had interrupted her, was rude, and appeared very reluctant to help. She eventually brought out cardboard boxes for us to transfer our donations into and, again reluctantly, helped us. Since the quilts and drapes could easily be damaged by rain, I suggested they might want to move the boxes inside. She simply shut the door. The experience left us feeling unwelcome and unappreciated. Donations are given freely by people who are trying to help, and a little kindness goes a long way. Sadly, because of this experience, I will be taking my future donations to Nana's House instead. Marcie Ramirez
